OK, I understand what Romney is against - anything Obama does and releasing tax returns - but what does he purport to actually stand for?

3 ( +4 / -1 )

" as Washington lost global supremacy and leadership of the free world."???????? Global Supremacy /Free World ???? What is this, surely they don't belong in the same sentence. When are men like Romney going to accept that the USA is not the Worlds police force or policy makers for the rest of the world. And the phrase "GLOBAL SUPREMACY" leaves a bad taste, hasn't history heard that phrase before. My own personal opinion, is that the owners of those defence contractors run America, they are more powerful than the government. Romney sounds just like one of them. I hope he never gets to be the president of America.

bass4funk:the link doesn't work , but ,For 8 years prior to President Obama the USA was run by a president who couldn't string a bunch of words together to make a sentence. Who successfully in 8 years from inheriting almost a clean balance sheet from Bill Clinton to the huge debt that President Obama inherited , plus a failed worldwide economy that wasn't his fault. I think he( President Obama) has done a reasonable job under the circumstances. So what miracles were all the americans expecting. The last 4 years the republicans have spent trying to get rid of President Obama and thats been documented, instead of trying to work on bipartisan policies for the benefit of the american people, your check mate was a little premature

"Republican economics (trickle down) is nice on paper, but doesn't work, the rich just keep the money, they don't hire new employees or raise wages if they don't have to"

And hoard it offshore or in Switzerland like Romney and the rest of the tiny elite....

2 ( +3 / -1 )

". He earned it. Out of curiosity, you are so desperate to find out exactly how much he paid in taxes last year, why?"

Because he's exploiting loopholes written into law by the elite for the elite whilst the American middle class get shafted. And because he's asking to hold the highest office in the land and Romney's own father set the precedent of transparency. Oh, and because he's got secretive Swiss accounts too.

Obviously radical Republicans say boo to transparency, we saw enough of that from the disastrous Bush regime and the support you all gave that as he spunked the American economy, but hey-ho that's why you guys are radicals. The rest of us want to know what exactly he's hiding from the American people.

Out of curiosity, do you still think "Obama is a Marxist" Molenir?

Bass,

Paragraph's are a neat invention.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

I can't believe the next president of the United States is going to be either Barack Obama or Mitt Romney.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Kudos to Obama.

Surely you jest.

I can't believe the next president of the United States is going to be either Barack Obama or Mitt Romney.

Barry gonna sweep the South because I cant see any white Southerners voting for either major candidate on election day.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Don't get fooled, these two will lie through their teeth and make promises that they'll never keep.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Republican economics (trickle down) is nice on paper, but doesn't work, the rich just keep the money, they don't hire new employees or raise wages if they don't have to. As well, How can there be a good economy when there are tax loopholes which prevent the state from getting millions if not billions in revenue? On the other hand, Romney raises some good points about foreign policy and as well as the fact that Obama is not tough enough on the Chinese who manipulate their currency and commit human rights abuses.

Financially (domestic), I'd vote for Obama. Foreign policy, I'd vote for Romney.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

"Oh - and he'd invade Venezuela for reasons he'd declare "inconvenient to explain."

Maybe he'll explain once elected - like his tax returns and the offshore/ dealings and secretive Swiss bank accounts. COUGH

1 ( +2 / -1 )

lol, ok Romney is rich, we get it. He earned it.

Wasn't quite the "job creator" though, was he? Well, not in the US anyway.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Military_budget_of_the_United_States#Budget_breakdown_for_2012 here is a link for the defence budget of the USA , in reply to "If that were true, the US wouldn't be in the state that it's in, the country is in financial ruins" your call !!

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Mitt's a really tough guy on defense. Or maybe he's just blowing smoke out his @ss.

Romney's foreign policy positions are quite clear and distinct. Regarding Afghanistan, for example, Romney demands a removal of all troops except for an amount sufficient to pacify the country (curiously, something the current number has been unable to accomplish) under a definite timetable which would be unknown to all so as not to encourage the terrorists.

Regarding the Middle East, Romney would outsource American policy to Israel; he's good at that type of thing.

Regarding China, he'd do everything Obama is doing and nothing different, but without the Kenyan post-colonial secular Marxist Islamic tinge.

And regarding Russia - well, if the Republicans cannot bring their foreign policy in line with the 21st century, they can sure well endeavor to bring the times back to the last time their foreign policy made any bit of sense: the Cold War.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

"but without the Kenyan post-colonial secular Marxist Islamic tinge."

You can add Venezuela now too.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Oh - and he'd invade Venezuela for reasons he'd declare "inconvenient to explain."

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Romney did not detail how, specifically, he would alter U.S. policy

Oh, OK.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Obama's foreign policy was very evident the day he (the most powerful leader in the world) bowed to the king of Saudi and not the other way around.

At least he didn't dance with him.

Very cute but definitely apples vs oranges

One powerful leader playing with another isn't even close to another all powerful leader bowing subserviently to a lesser one.

And please, please. Don't start that Republicans never wanted to work with Obama, Clinton was like that in his first term, but in his second term, he reached through party lines put bipartisan and got a lot of things done that way.

I don't think Clinton had to reach out to intransigent tea party right wing fundamentalists.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

@billyshears

Sorry, but that's another typical liberal myth, here are the facts.

Romney was a "job creator." contrary what liberals want you to believe, Romney's "Free market", privately funded style vs. Taxpayer big government Obama style. Romeny:

AMC Entertainment

Burger King

Burlington Coat Factory

Clear Channel Communications

Dominoes Pizza

Dunkin' Donuts

Guitar Center

The Sports Authority

Staples

Toys "R" Us

Warner Music Group

The Salt Lake City 2002 Winter Olympics

Did some companies fail under Romney, sure, just like any FREE market enterprise company, you are bound to have hit and misses, but Romney is NOT the King of Outsourcing, sorry. He created millions of jobs for people. Now let's take a look at Obama and do a comparison and see his achievements.

Obama's invested Tax payer money

Solyndra-Bankrupt

Ener 1- Bankrupt

Beacon Power- Bankrupt

Abound Solar- Bankrupt

Amonix Solar- Bankrupt

Spectra Watt- Bankrupt

Eastern Energy- Bankrupt

Not to mention, these companies were Obama campaign contributors. So there you go. No wonder Obama will NOT and does NOT want to talk about the economy. I wouldn't either if I were him, the Dems can't run on that, impossible, so the only thing they can do is try their best to vilify and to make Mitt look bad, that he outsourced. Obama should know a thing or two about outsourcing, but of course, liberals will see it always it differently. Because only a Conservative can outsource jobs, never Liberals. Stop drinking the kool-aid.

That's why my name is BASSfunk as a Bass funk player, Bass slapping, "I jam in a lot" of notes, comes with the territory.

"Republican economics (trickle down) is nice on paper, but doesn't work, the rich just keep the money, they don't hire new employees or raise wages if they don't have to"

This in contrast with Dem policies designed to take money from those who create jobs, reducing their incentive to create new jobs, and give tiny amounts of money to those who either don't work, or make so little money they have little impact in creating new jobs. Sorry, but regardless of how you slice it, the rich will get richer, the poor will get poorer. The difference is, that in America before Obama, sometimes the poor became rich, and vice versa.

Maybe he'll explain once elected - like his tax returns and the offshore/ dealings and secretive Swiss bank accounts. COUGH

lol, ok Romney is rich, we get it. He earned it. Out of curiosity, you are so desperate to find out exactly how much he paid in taxes last year, why? Oh, and are you as curious to find out Obamas grades, that years later he still refuses to release...

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

@minello

I wasn't talking about the breakdown, I was referring to your accusation that Romney and or the government out right owns them, let alone run them. And your evidence of that is... Bottom-line, we are financially worse off than ever in our history and it seems like there is no end in sight, so you should ask yourself, "has Obama been a good leader, has there been any monumental significant changes in our economy?" http://aolanswers.com/questions/happen_america_obama_monetizing_518015793548766 Check mate!

Gee only 4 negative votes so far for telling the truth :-)

Bass great post!

I will give you that Bush would quite often butcher the English language, this is true. However, we have a President that can't speak WITHOUT a teleprompter. As long as he has one, he is good to go, otherwise, ouch!! And Bush DID inherit a recession from Clinton. Both had their shortcomings, Both I really admired. I didn't like how Clinton handled that Whole Lewinsky situation, but that's for a different topic. Also, shortly after Bush came into office, we had 9/11 and Bush had to deal with that, people dead, the stock market, the travel industry was in taters. But Bush did manage to get us out of that and we had the LOWEST UNEMPLOYMENT in our nation's history until about 2006, when Dems took control of Congress. To be fair Obama did inherit a deeper recession than Bush did... but he (Obama) hasn't had to deal with a 9/11. And under Obama, the unemployment rate has kept rising and now we are over 8%. Under both Clinton and Bush we had lower taxes, pretty much everyone was working, despite the challenges both men faced. So I really don't want to hear poor Obama inherited a mess from Bush and it will take him some time to fix it, that argument is older than time. Every President had their share of problems: Lincoln inherited a fiery issue that erupted into the Civil War. FDR took office in the midst of the Great Depression. Truman took over after the death of FDR and during WWII. LBJ took office after the assassination of the beloved JFK, during Vietnam and the Civil Rights movement. Reagan inherited the fiasco of the Carter years (which might I tell you was a disaster) When will Obama take responsibility for HIS economy, he is after all the President am I right? Of course, the Republicans don't like Obama's policies and don't want him to govern, they don't believe in big government apparatus and an entitlement society. We were NOT expecting ANY miracles, but at least a shrinkage in the unemployment number, but now it's going up over 8%. and climbing. And please, please. Don't start that Republicans never wanted to work with Obama, Clinton was like that in his first term, but in his second term, he reached through party lines put bipartisan and got a lot of things done that way. Now compare that to Obama records, failed stimulus, bailing out GM, highest unemployment over 8%, borrowing from China (with NO end) Obamacare implementing and the list goes on... Obama has weakened our military and NASA, but increased the deficit and won't stop spending. Now you really thin that Obama deserves a second term??? By far, he is THE worst and I really hope he loses. One term is enough.

My own personal opinion, is that the owners of those defence contractors run America, they are more powerful than the government. Romney sounds just like one of them. I hope he never gets to be the president of America.

If that were true, the US wouldn't be in the state that it's in, the country is in financial ruins and not as attractive for domestic and foreign investments. Since the US is turning more and more into a socialist country by every means of the word. THE most powerful man in the world running the US, NOT the defense contractors for sure. It's Obama. Personally, I would rather be a stronger nation than to become a 3rd world nation, which this President is doing quite well as taking us down that road. Also, I feel that Obama doesn't care about his country the way Romney does. If Obama did, we wouldn't be in this financial state. Kudos to Obama.
