His heart aches for being caught on camera saying something he didn't want the jobless to hear.

37 ( +36 / -1 )

Let me get this straight: Mitt's heart aches for "that 47% of Americans [who] are “victims” who depend on government, don’t pay federal income taxes and are unlikely to support him."

Those folks?

The ones who were so turned off by Mitt's insensitivity and crass ongoing stupidity that they sent his poll numbers south and who are behind him trailing the president in 7 out of 8 swing states?

Gosh, that's sure sad news.

My heart aches for Mitt's predicament.....

22 ( +21 / -1 )

Romney has a heart? Did not show that when he closed companies down sending thousands into that street so he could make a quick. buck. Mt heart goes out to anyone clueless enough to vote for the guy who wants airplane windows to roll down.

17 ( +17 / -1 )

This carpet bagger Mitt Romney has just PROVEN he will say ANYTHING to get votes! He was caught off record insulting the so called 47% of Americans that do not have as much $$$ as the other half, now he says his heart aches for them???? Boy oh boy, I smell a strong odor of BS!!!!

17 ( +17 / -1 )

Got a heartache, Romney?

Take care, have a rest, don't bother about the election and stay in bed until the end of it.

8 ( +10 / -2 )

Oh pleeeze.......we have heard enough lies, Romney.

13 ( +14 / -2 )

Romney's attempts to shift the focus with tough talk on the ME has failed completely, and now he's shifted to desperate damage control just before the debate coming up, which he already asked Americans not to expect much from him on. This guy is beyond sad -- yeah, his 'heart aches' alright, aches over getting caught red-handed saying he doesn't give a damn about these people.

10 ( +11 / -2 )

Stomach-churning. I could just about keep my boiled egg down. Don't even try the compassion act, you look revolting.

9 ( +10 / -1 )

The jobless aren't those the 47% freeloaders?

3 ( +6 / -3 )

“I’ve been across the country. My heart aches for the people I’ve seen,”

I've been across the country, and my heart aches for the people you've seen as well.

7 ( +8 / -1 )

and I am sure that the hearts of the jobless will ache when you lose the election Mittens...

OB 2012

4 ( +6 / -2 )

the good news for Mitt: he can afford a VERY lavish consolation election loss party

6 ( +7 / -1 )

That's not heartache Mr. Romney, that's heartburn! Perhaps you overindulged on the pickled working class souls again sir?

7 ( +10 / -3 )

If he's honest about it, I'm glad his "heart aches" for those people.

But honestly, I hope he would have a toothache ... so that his brain can formulate a "more elegant" way of stating things before his mouth can open to talk.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

The part the article left out.

"I've been across this country. My heart aches for the people I've seen," Romney told the enthusiastic supporters seated on folding chairs around a high school gym. "And the difference between me and President Obama is I know what to do and I will do what it takes to get this economy going."

-12 ( +1 / -13 )

Mitt Romney and Jack Nicklaus, two of a kind.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Sailwind,

The majority of Americans now feel that Obama can do more to help them on economic matters, a remarkable shift in the polls. The top 1% in the USA no doubt are confident that Romney will help them, as he outlined in the 47% video to the $50k per plate attendees.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Paulinusa,

Mitt, Jack and Clint Eastwood. Three of a kind.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

Heart? didn't know androids had them.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

His heart aches for being caught on camera saying something he didn't want the jobless to hear.

Absolutely. That and the fact that thanks to the video, Americans have seen through his veneer, and seen his real soul. And, as a result, the polls, especially in the battleground states, are all turning in Obama's favor. The latest Ohio poll shows the President up by 10%. Mitt's gonna have plenty of time to heal his aching heart. And more than enough time to do lots of volunteer work to help these folks he is so concerned about.

5 ( +7 / -2 )

Romney is right. So many young Americans are unemployed. It makes patriotic Americans heartsick. Worse, lengthy unemployment will make many of these people unemployable, even if the economy picks up. The late IT genius Steve Jobs was correct when he informed Obama that his would be a one-term presidency.

-7 ( +1 / -8 )

This twit is clearly the bain of us all!

2 ( +4 / -2 )

“America cannot afford four more years of Barack Obama’s failed policies,” Nicklaus said. “We need a real recovery.”

Oh my Golden Bear, I must say I am disappointed, I bet you lost a lot of fans today! Best go & hibernate!

1 ( +3 / -2 )

I wish the Romney bashers on this site would zip it for the next six weeks. Romney didn't: 1) create 5 trillion dollars of new debt in the last four years 2) appease Islamic extremists leading to the murder of a diplomat and three other Americans 3) bail out the banks which only helped Obama's WS pals 4) create Obamacare that will cause small businesses to cancel their employee's existing medical coverage since its cheaper to pay the fine -- leaving said employees to purchase insurance on their own 5) destroy our relationship with the only democracy in the Middle East

Oh, but wait, Romney is evil because he only pays 14% income tax -- which by the way, in dollar amount in 2011 was more money then all the posters here on JT each earn in a lifetime -- but you would say "that is not his fair share" Tatanka, stop confusing us with the facts...

-19 ( +2 / -21 )

sailwind: "The part the article left out."

Still flat out lies either way, and still doesn't take away the fact that he already said he's written off the very people he now says his heart 'aches' for. Why does his heart suddenly ache for people he called worthless 'free loaders' in May, sail?

3 ( +6 / -3 )

Tatanka: "I wish the Romney bashers on this site would zip it for the next six weeks."

I bet you would, indeed! Now doubt Romney does as well, so he doesn't have to get any blowback for his myriad of gaffes, lies, and general screw-ups.

Anyway, substitute pretty much everything you said your arguments about Obama (as deflection for Romney's slipping in the polls, and the embarrassment of the recording) with either GWB and/or Romney and you're bang on. Obama did ADD to the already burgeoning debt, to be sure, but he didn't suddenly create it any more than he suddenly started the war in Afghanistan. You really seem to enjoy twisting the time-line of reality around so that: the debt was started by Obama, it was actually GWB who killed OBL, Obama started the war in Afghanistan, etc.

5 ( +7 / -2 )

So to our dear Romney supporters, how much $$$ does he have in off shore SECRET bank accounts??

3 ( +5 / -2 )

@Tatanka 'I wish the Romney bashers in this site would zip it for the next six weeks'. If I were you, I'd wish Mitt would zip it for the next six weeks. Mitt's aching heart nonsense drips with hypocrisy given his previous statements and actions, and this pathetic attempt to plug another hole makes him look insincere, incompetent and frankly unpleasant.

9 ( +10 / -1 )

smithinjapan: it was actually GWB who killed OBL

With his bare hands as I heard it.

Mitt feels for the jobless. Of course he does being unemployed himself and having to just live of the income from his investments. How much was he declared in income last year?

4 ( +5 / -1 )

Heartache? Let's check the GOP medical dictionary ... lessee ... hemorrhoids remedy: tax cuts - nope ... headache remedy: tax cuts - nope ... ah, here it is.

Heartache remedy: Tax cuts for the wealthy!

7 ( +7 / -0 )

Only 53% of them though, aye, Glove, I mean 'Mitt'. WHAT a shyster.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Now if this were a publication originating in the US then the hardcore republicans would be going off in this comments area. I have come to the conclusion that after people have spent some yrs overseas their views seem to change. Is this true or just my imagination??? I'm in Houston now and Obama is so hated here its not even funny. The parents views here passed on to their children and the cycle repeats... They can only think for themselves and start opening their eyes when they are not bombarded by family and friends. Im generalizing but you know where I'm coming from. I'm not saying Obama is so great, but when you compare to Romney the obvious better choice is Mr O. Republicans must be kicking themselves for not getting themselves a better candidate to run against Obama. Personally I'd like to see a new party, no collecting money from anyone, straight up debates, all neg ads banned, a set and equal amount of dollars to be spent by each party for ads, that's it!! Then let the people decide. BTW if I were a leader of a major country, I would start a global campaign to make every person on earth have to spend 2-3 yrs in another country. Paid by governments of course. Get some more culturally diverse people in leadership roles in the near future

5 ( +5 / -0 )

Correction-- If they can only think for themselves

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Correction -- no "if"..... jeez I feel like Romney...or that other joker Gov. from Tx. Rick Perry. He was a candidate at one time???

0 ( +0 / -0 )

How many jobless Mormons has sympathy over him?

1 ( +1 / -0 )

@Tatanka

Oh boy...another conservative cheer leader and propaganda ditto head.. Where to start...Where to start...

Romney didn't appease Islamic extremists leading to the murder of a diplomat and three other Americans

Neither did Obama...just wishful thinking by Fox News pundits running talking points put out by Romney's campaign manager.

bail out the banks which only helped Obama's WS pals

Almost...although Obama does have pals on WS, they're mostly friends of the people in the congress.

create Obamacare that will cause small businesses to cancel their employee's existing medical coverage since its cheaper to pay the fine -- leaving said employees to purchase insurance on their own

Wrong again Bob...only thing that is questionable about "Obamacare" is the mandate, which I say again was a republican initiative.

destroy our relationship with the only democracy in the Middle East

Who? Israel?...How? This is news to me! BTW...Israel (if that who you're referring to) is not the only democracy in the middle east...but I let you believe that if it helps you sleep.

create 5 trillion dollars of new debt in the last four years

to stimulate a wrecked economy...its a lot better than sending to middle eastern "allies" or waging 2 senseless wars

Oh, but wait, Romney is evil because he only pays 14% income tax

Not the only reason why he's evil, but yeah...

-- which by the way, in dollar amount in 2011 was more money then all the posters here on JT each earn in a lifetime

Don't think so, but it says a lot about you, since you're a fellow poster

-- but you would say "that is not his fair share" Tatanka, stop confusing us with the facts...

25% tax on a person making $30k a year vs. 25% or even 30% tax on a person making $20M a year (who, may I remind you DOESN'T EVEN WORK by his own admission)...who do you think the tax impacts more? Trust me, paying $5M in taxes for $20M you made buying and selling stock ain't gonna hurt, but to a person who makes $30k a year salary, while he slaves in factories working with his hands, $7k is A LOT. That's the definition of "fair share" my friend.

9 ( +10 / -1 )

Tatanka, if all the Romney bashers shut up even for one day, JT would lose 95% of the click traffic, including me because I'm an equal-opportunity critic. And some folks would have nothing to do.

-6 ( +2 / -8 )

What's interesting about the video isn't the video itself, but rather the mystery around who actually recorded it. It's highly unlikely that the recording would have been approved if permission had been sought. Further is the legal issue. Under Florida law it is a crime, a felony, to secretly record someone who has a reasonable expectation they are not being recorded. I wouldn't be too surprised if damaging videos about The One were to surface in the near future.

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

@Herve

Exactly! I just wish some of these Obama supporters would wake up from time to time and just admit Obama ain't no Saint, Romney has his flaws, but you guys TOTALLY overlook Obama's and that is just absolutely amazing.

-16 ( +0 / -15 )

Herve: "Further is the legal issue."

So if they catch the person, punish him/her. Doesn't change what was caught on camera.

bass4funk: "but you guys TOTALLY overlook Obama's and that is just absolutely amazing."

Not at all. In fact, people who support Obama readily point out his flaws when the time comes; the problem is you rely on FOX Network 'facts', and won't see anything objectively, hence you miss the forest because of all those trees in front of you. Meanwhile this is your 'argument' in defense of Romney when most Romney supporters go out of their way to deny he's done anything wrong, or simply deflect (and badly) when they cannot disprove it, as with the recent video.

7 ( +8 / -1 )

Agreed, both Obama and Romney have their flaws, but even if Obama yelled "allah hu akbar" as an answer to every debate question, the liberal posters on this site would still only find flaws in Romney's answers....

Under Florida law it is a crime, a felony, to secretly record someone who has a reasonable expectation they are not being recorded. I wouldn't be too surprised if damaging videos about The One were to surface in the near future.

In Florida, it's illegal to record a conversation without either party knowing it....this is the law. The person who recorded this video, recorded a presidential candidate, standing behind a podium in front of a room full of people, with a mic to amplify his voice. This wasn't a private conversation nor should he (as a public figure running for president) have any expectation that his speech is not being recorded or stay private.

Think about it. If one of those food servers, or Romney's rich donors went to the press and told them what Romney said about the 47% and all of the other incriminating thing that were said, Romney would most likely say, "you're lying, and its my word against yours"

The video taping was GOLD and brilliant. The person who recorded deserves an award for exposing the fraud that Romney really is.

11 ( +12 / -1 )

the problem is you rely on FOX Network 'facts', and won't see anything objectively

Kindly explain how this so called "objective" article got a headline like this and a focus on his past comments during the video of the fundraiser in May:

Romney says his 'heart aches' for jobless

From what where his real words that he actually said in Westerville Ohio.

Romney, at a morning rally in Westerville, Ohio, on Wednesday, said his “heart aches” from the struggles of people he’s met on the campaign trail.

“There are so many people in our country that are hurting right now. I want to help them. I know what it takes to get an economy going again and creating jobs. I know that a lot of folks that have jobs that wonder how they can make ends meet till the end of the month, how they can put food on the table for their family,” he said.

-7 ( +0 / -8 )

but even if Obama yelled "allah hu akbar" as an answer to every debate question, the liberal posters on this site would still only find flaws in Romney's answers

If he were Muslim, there would be absolutely NOTHING wrong with saying "allah hu akbar" (Allah is the greatest).

But you conservative air heads seem to not be able to get it past your simpleton brains that Obama is NOT Muslim,...he's repeatedly stated that he is a Christian (which I really don't give a rats behind either way). I find it a BIGGER issue when a president shamelessly says that he started a war with Iraq because his sky god told him it was okay, and pleads with the French president to help him battle the biblical demons Gog and Magog.

7 ( +9 / -2 )

" This wasn't a private conversation nor should he (as a public figure running for president) have any expectation that his speech is not being recorded or stay private."

Wrong again BOB! It was by NOT public, and clearly indicated as a PRIVATE fundraiser, ir did you miss that word PRIVATE? BOB?

-8 ( +0 / -8 )

Tatanka: "But even if Obama yelled "Allah hu akbar"..."

Once again we see the levels the Republicans stoop to when they cannot provide proper retorts to valid arguments. First, what's wrong with saying (or shouting) the aforementioned? Second, why would he when he's not Muslim (or wait... are Republicans trying to associate Obama's name with radical Islam again, like they can only do when they know the cards are stacked against them?)?

Like I said, a pathetic 'retort' because you know you have lost and have nothing. Try again in 2020 -- and this time pick someone who is not such an utter loser.

sailwind: "“There are so many people in our country that are hurting right now. I want to help them. I know what it takes to get an economy going again and creating jobs. I know that a lot of folks that have jobs that wonder how they can make ends meet till the end of the month, how they can put food on the table for their family,” he said."

And once again you are deflecting. How you do you defend what he said in the film? Better yet, why do you DENY what he said in the film by quoting such rubbish? Seriously, just admit what he said already and admit he's not qualified -- because he's not. Clearly he cannot relate to the general public, let alone appeal to them. And as of yet he refuses to spell out any details of his plans to 'save America' (and the world). All he ever says is: "I'll give the details after being elected" or, "I think it's quite clear in my proposals..." (which it obviously isn't since they lack any detail). He has given "empty promises" a new meaning, literally.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Herve: "Wrong again BOB! It was by NOT public, and clearly indicated as a PRIVATE fundraiser, ir did you miss that word PRIVATE? BOB?"

And once again, regardless of whether it was legal or not, you cannot deny what he said in the tapes, nor somehow nullify his remarks by claiming they were obtained illegally.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

Hello? I will say it again...it was NOT a private CONVERSATION. It was a SPEECH given in front of MANY people. Is he suppose to think everyone in that room is going to take what was said to their graves?

Any time when you speak to the masses, you cannot have ANY expectation that it will not be repeated to someone else or that there are no recording devices taping the speech. Florida law even backs this. Google it and see for yourself. And if Romney wanted everything to be hush hush, first of all, he should have given more thought to what he was going to say...otherwise he should have confiscated all cell phones and ran everyone through a security screener.

6 ( +6 / -1 )

How you do you defend what he said in the film?

By actually reading the transcript of what he said and not the what the Media spun and twisted. And Smith I agree with his answer 100 percent as Obama's base has always been about 47 percent of the electorate.

MALE VOICE: For the past three years, all everybody's been told is, "Don't worry. We'll take care of it." How are we gonna do it, in two months before the elections, to convince everybody you've gotta take care of yourself?

MITT ROMNEY: Well, there are 47% of the people who will vote for the president no matter what. All right? There are 47% who are with him. Who are dependent upon government, who believe that-- that they are victims, who believe that government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they're entitled to healthcare, to food, to housing, to you name it. But that's-- it's an entitlement. And the government should give it to them. And they will vote for this president no matter what.

And-- and-- I mean the president starts off with 48%, 49%, 40-- or he-- he starts off with a huge number. These are people who pay no income tax. 47% of Americans pay no income taxes. So our message of low taxes doesn't connect. And he'll be out there talking about tax cuts for the rich. I mean that's what they sell every-- every four years.

http://firstread.nbcnews.com/_news/2012/09/18/13943563-full-video-and-transcript-of-leaked-romney-fundraiser-remarks?lite

-5 ( +0 / -5 )

that they are victims, who believe that government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they're entitled to healthcare, to food, to housing, to you name it.

And Smith Romney should have added free birth control to the list while he was at it.

-6 ( +0 / -6 )

Look who's deflecting now...

BTW, Romney was correct in what he bluntly said, and it just may have cost him the election as the sheeple are so easily swayed. But please read the following commentary(by a Romney critic):

http://robertringer.com/columns/gov-romney-was-correct/

0 ( +0 / -0 )

The Romney campaign is clearly in damage control mode. Managing debate performance expectations is a clear sign that they are beginning to doubt themselves. Thay have all but thrown up their hands! Mitt ought to get Ryan to serve him some of that great Wisconsin cheese with his "whine"!

1 ( +1 / -0 )

" even if Obama yelled "allah hu akbar" as an answer to every debate question"

What a strange thing to say.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

sailwind: "And-- and-- I mean the president starts off with 48%, 49%, 40-- or he-- he starts off with a huge number. These are people who pay no income tax. 47% of Americans pay no income taxes. So our message of low taxes doesn't connect."

Funny to watch you dance in circles. You deny what he said because it was not the full speech, then defend what he said as being correct. You remind me of nutbags like Hannity who called the video a liberal smear campaign, lies, and illegal, then said it was the truth, a good thing to say, and a win for Romney.

You guys just can't decide, can you? I realize how embarrassing and frustrating it must be to continue to support a dead duck, but the denial is simply amazing.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

sailwind: "And Smith Romney should have added free birth control to the list while he was at it."

And that 'businesses are people' and 'airplanes should have windows that roll down'? How about the fact he's asked people not to rely on him in the upcoming debate.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

"The Romney campaign is clearly in damage control mode. "

Bah, even the Damage Report machine has gone up in smoke.

Time to fuel the rocket and enter the galactic coordinates for Kolob.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

@mirai, you know, name-calling of those who don't agree with your opinion doesn't bolster your position nor does it serve to sway anyone toward your viewpoint. Stick to the issues, please. As any politician, both Romney and Obama tailor their speeches to their audiences, telling them what they want to hear. It's a dog-and-pony show starring an elephant and a donkey.

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

@sailwind

Its very clear to me that you don't know who the 47% are. Chances are, you are a part of the 47% and don't even know it.

This is who the 47% are

Who are dependent upon government

Um...we ALL, ALL OF US, depend on the government in one form or another.

who believe that they're entitled to healthcare, to food, to housing, to you name it

The essentials for life..YES, everyone IS entitled to them. They are not asking for tax breaks for owning dressage horse. They are asking for means of living with dignity.

And the government should give it to them

No the government should provide it until the person can find a means provide it on their own.

47% of Americans pay no income taxes.

Yup and many are Romney's millionaire and billionaire buddies.

And he'll be out there talking about tax cuts for the rich

Whereas Romney keeps it under cover until after election day.

Who else were part of the 47%? Former governor George Romney (his father) and Scott Walker Governor of Wisconsin. People aren't dummies, the whole speech is out there to listen to in context, in its entirety, free from pundits planting thoughts in our heads. 90% of swing state voters have heard his words and many have decided not to vote for him because of it.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

Smith,

'airplanes should have windows that roll down'?

When are you going to ever doubt that everything reported by in the Obama tank media is true, true, true and you just repeat the " Media truth".

The Los Angeles Times story that relayed Romney's airplane remark to the world was based off a pool report written by the New York Times's Ashley Parker. When we asked Parker this morning whether it seemed as if Romney made the mark in jest, she left no doubt. "Romney was joking," she e-mailed. Parker told us that while the pool report didn't explicitly indicate that Romney was joking, it was self-evident that he was. "The pool report provided the full transcript of his comments on Ann's plane scare," she said, "and it was clear from the context that he was not being serious."

Madverts: "Bah, even the Damage Report machine has gone up in smoke."

Very true! The campaign and supporters still trying to spin such thing put whirling Dervishes to shame. They remind of this poor little goat I saw in a science film as a kid -- one that develops this disease called 'turning disease'. It spins around and around, bleating in vain, as the rest of the pack distances itself and eventually just forgets all about said poor goat.

Romney should wear a muzzle and put HIMSELF on the roof of his car -- might keep him from saying anything else that will further destroy his campaign.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

You can't close the gate on a horse that has long bolted, Mitt.....

4 ( +5 / -1 )

The essentials for life..YES, everyone IS entitled to them.

No we are not entitled to them. We work for them. It's the very reason most of us get off our butts and go to work in the morning to a job that many would rather just quit, but since it takes money to pay the rent, pay the health insurance and put food on the table we do it. We go to work and we do what we have to do and we sacrifice our time away from our kids and our families and put our efforts into whatever profession or trade we have chosen to make their lives better than ours in the future for them and their children.

Our current entitlement mentality has done nothing but make that future bleak and poorer for them as they are now saddled with paying the entitlement debt we've acrued for ourselves and put on them to pay back. All due to our short sighted me, me, me give it to me because I deserve it without having to actually work for it.

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

@Sailwind

No we are not entitled to them. We work for them. It's the very reason most of us get off our butts and go to work in the morning to a job that many would rather just quit

What if you lost your job, could not find another job for several monthsm and depleted your entire cash reserves...what would you do?

3 ( +4 / -1 )

@Herve As one of the 'sheeple' I'm glad to have your penetrating and profound observations telling me that Obama and Romney tailor their speeches to particular audiences.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Mirai: "What if you lost your job, could not find another job for several monthsm and depleted your entire cash reserves...what would you do?"

He'd be one of the people his presidential hopeful rights off and pees in his face while he does it, all the while denying what Mitt said and admitting it's the truth. Don't you understand? :)

2 ( +2 / -0 )

I'm in Houston now and Obama is so hated here its not even funny.

Well here on JT it's smoke, mirrors, and heckling from the cheap seats; the non-citizens that won't have to live with the aftermath of an extended reign of King Owebama.

-7 ( +0 / -7 )

Mirai,

What if you lost your job, could not find another job for several monthsm and depleted your entire cash reserves...what would you do?

What if you lost your job,.....Been there done that......could not find another job for several months........Been there done that............and depleted your entire cash reserves..........Been there done that............what would you do? Give up some personal freedom, get discipline and acquire skills to make myself marketable again. I joined the U.S Military after being out of work for about 7 months back in the day and though I didn't know it at the time it turned out to be for over 20 years of Service to my country.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

pamelot: "Well here on JT it's smoke, mirrors, and heckling from the cheap seats; the non-citizens that won't have to live with the aftermath of an extended reign of King Owebama."

Clearly you need others to tell you what's best, since some of you on the inside can't see the forest for the trees in your way. In fact, the most objective posters and those who stick to the facts are usually non-Americans, free from the bias. I mean, "King Owebama"? You can't even say the man's name properly, let alone realize how wrong Mitt Romney is for the job.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Mirai,,

Go give some of your cash to the family down the street that needs it. I thought you wouldnt. Both Obama and Romney are the same. Obama has the lead at the moment because he just keeps promising everyone assistance. Of course people want the freebees. Private industry should be creating jobs not government. They arent because they continue to work everyone to the bones and pocket the profits. No tax cuts for those giant companies not hiring; that was the deal. People have lost their way. They have become weak and unaware. It is the people that need to find ways to fight back and demand more employment. No hire, no buying. Simple. If these multinational corps want to send jobs overseas so they can pocket more fiat money stop buying their products. Their loyalty has done nothing but fool every American. The only way to get things back is to revolt (in a nonviolent manner) against the current corrupt system. Obama has fooled everyone and if Mitt gets in he`ll continue to do the same.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

"And the difference between me and President Obama is I know what to do and I will do what it takes to get this economy going."

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Exactly! I just wish some of these Obama supporters would wake up from time to time and just admit Obama ain't no Saint, Romney has his flaws, but you guys TOTALLY overlook Obama's and that is just absolutely amazing.

I bet it would be pretty easy to find one bunch of liberals who support Obama 100%, another bunch who think he's just like a Republican and another bunch who think he's too radical. I think many people who voted for him in 2008 would agree he's been a bit of a disappointment, why else do you think there's been serious talk about the possibility of him losing this election? But you're right about Romney having flaws, the main one seems to be his ability to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. It must be hard for you to accept, but right now for most US voters I imagine it must be looking like a choice between a bit useless (Obama) and totally useless (Romney).

Herve Nmn L'EisaSep. 27, 2012 - 02:34PM JST

No, Herve. Romney has no case as he is a public official campaigning presidential election therefore, the content defamatory of official reputation, or both, are insufficient to warrant an award of damages for false statements unless "actual malice" -- knowledge that statements are false or in reckless disregard of the truth -- is alleged and proved. Please research on Sullivan vs New York Times case decision by the US Supreme Court.

As any politician, both Romney and Obama tailor their speeches to their audiences, telling them what they want to hear. It's a dog-and-pony show starring an elephant and a donkey.

This is a clear choice election for next generations. Obama has been very solid in his vision and ideology unlike Romney. Romney is a great guy, but he is a terrible politician. There is nothing wrong with Romney campain, the products (ideology and vision of GOP SuperPAC ) are non American values. I would not underestimate comprehension and intelligence of aggregate Americans. They see a big difference.

Pointofview: "No hire, no buying."

So they just die if they can't find anything, right? One less vote against Romney, so I guess that makes Republicans happy.

"People have lost their way."

Some have indeed, no doubt about it -- but that's not because of Obama, and Mitt certainly wouldn't help them find it; according to his own words he's already written them off the and voting hasn't even started!

"Private industry should be creating jobs not government."

Better not say that around Mitt -- they are the only ones who will vote for him after all his recent remarks.

"If these multinational corps want to send jobs overseas so they can pocket more fiat money stop buying their products."

And how many jobs did Mitt outsource to make extra money?

"Obama has fooled everyone and if Mitt gets in he`ll continue to do the same."

Not correct. Obama fooled no one -- all of his attempts to change the things he said he would were filibustered by Republican Congress. Look it up! Tell me how many filibusters in the history of the presidency under GWB, then tell me how many times the Republicans have filibustered against Obama's proposed legislation. It's not his fault they said 'no' simply for the sake of saying no (even in some cases to things they agreed with when GWB was in power). Heck, Mitt himself has flip-flopped on his stance on Obama's issues several times in some cases.

When Obama wins in November it's true the Republicans will still do everything in their power to simply say 'no', but if Romney were to get in not only would he'd only fool you if you were dumb enough not to see through his lies -- he'd simply throw you to the dogs after behind closed doors with rich people at fundraisers, then cry about how it 'breaks his heart'.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

gw, as usual we'll just have to agree to disagree. " The now-infamous video of Mitt Romney speaking to donors at a private fundraising event in the Sunshine State back a few months ago may have been recorded in violation of Florida law, Tony Romm of Politico reported this afternoon:

The rules in Florida — where Romney spoke at a private fundraiser — generally require consent from both the person recording and the person being recorded when one of the parties has a reasonable expectation of privacy, experts told POLITICO.

But the question is whether Romney can claim that expectation, partly because fundraising events are about influencing supporters and spreading word about his candidacy. "I think there are good arguments both ways under the statute," said Peter Swire, a professor at Ohio State University who led up privacy work during the Clinton administration. "Both sides can write a good brief now."

And my point was that it was interesting, not that the legality was clearly defined.

We are in agreement that Romney is a great guy but a terrible politician(as I've previously stated he wouldn't get my vote), however Obama is a tyrant, but perhaps you think him to be the lesser of two weevils.

@Mirai

Um...we ALL, ALL OF US, depend on the government in one form or another.

You said that before, but what he meant was that under Obama, that dependency has increased 3 times over, from unemployment benefits, to disability benefits, food stamps, it all went up and is STILL going up!

The essentials for life..YES, everyone IS entitled to them. They are not asking for tax breaks for owning >dressage horse. They are asking for means of living with dignity.

Everyone is entitled to these essentials, says who? Where does it say that the US government or any government is responsible for caring for you from cradle to grave? If they want to live with dignity, then the first step is to get rid of this President, because he is NOT helping the unemployment to go down, in fact, he is making it worse!

No the government should provide it until the person can find a means provide it on their own.

To a point, you are slowly thinking like a Conservative, give you the tools to help you get off your feet, but extending unemployment from 90 days to 99 weeks and the liberals in congress were thinking of extending it even longer to about 180 days? That's just insane, that would breed more dependency! We can't afford it and the House should kill it DOA!

Yup and many are Romney's millionaire and billionaire buddies.

Not true, but what is true is people like me and my father are caring the 47% that don't pay taxes! That is fair? We already pay more than 40% by default, I pay more than my fair share and every person that I personally know! But the takers only care about taking and mooching.

Whereas Romney keeps it under cover until after election day.

Like Obama when he slams the middle class if he is reelected, he HAS to raise taxes on the middle class, with a 8.1% unemployment rate, good luck with that!

Don't kid yourself, your president said nothing about the $3.5 billion he is borrowing everyday, BORROWING! We are spending more than we take in and to you whacky liberals, it just doesn't bother you. And again, you are wrong, many independents DO want Romney and want out of this Obama abomination of Hell that we are living in now, if you go especially in the South and in particular with Independents Romney is way ahead of Obama. Obama is the one that doesn't want to address our $16T debt and COUNTING our 8.1% unemployment rate, No mention of the Affordable Healthcare Act. Hasn't met with his jobs Czar in a few months, Yes, many people have decided Obama and 4 more years equals a destroyed and decimated America!

Smitty, Regarding your last post, yeah, it's crazy how much the republicans want to obstruct Pres. Obama. There has been times when the republicans authored a bill that president Obama agreed with. As soon as they found out Obama was onboard, they change their stance, JUST TO BE CONTRARY.

These idiots will bite off their own nose just to spite their face.

I joined the U.S Military after being out of work for about 7 months back in the day and though I didn't know it at the time it turned out to be for over 20 years of Service to my country.

I'm not asking about your past...what would you do now?

You said that before, but what he meant was that under Obama, that dependency has increased 3 times over, from unemployment benefits, to disability benefits, food stamps, it all went up and is STILL going up!

No, bass, it has been going down. In 2008 before Bush was ready to leave, US was ready to go off the cliff and then to the 2nd Great Depression. Obama created over 4.6 million jobs since he took office as of today. We should be thankful we are not in the Depression with 25% unemployment like Spain. Please read more and more social unrest in Spain and Greece. Obama is doing a great job.

Everyone is entitled to these essentials, says who? Where does it say that the US government or any government is responsible for caring for you from cradle to grave? If they want to live with dignity, then the first step is to get rid of this President, because he is NOT helping the unemployment to go down, in fact, he is making it worse!

bass. then, we should make a choice for someone like you. You do not have to make any contributions to US government for SSI, Medicare and Unemployment insurance. When you get sick, you will be on your own. Thats sounds fair to me. No help for you.

Not true, but what is true is people like me and my father are caring the 47% that don't pay taxes! That is fair? We already pay more than 40% by default, I pay more than my fair share and every person that I personally know! But the takers only care about taking and mooching

I believe in progressive tax. The truth is people pay more on payroll tax. They pay sale tax, property tax, SSI tax, State tax, UI insurance tax. Riches pay less tax on investment income. I know, bass, you are not paying any of those at all to US government while you are in Japan. You are legally excused. You are not accumulating qualifying points of US SSI and Medicare-"Zero" and NADA. You are in the 47% if you like it or not.

Like Obama when he slams the middle class if he is reelected, he HAS to raise taxes on the middle class, with a 8.1% unemployment rate, good luck with that!

bass, under Obama's plan, people making under $250,000 has no tax hikes.

Don't kid yourself, your president said nothing about the $3.5 billion he is borrowing everyday, BORROWING! bass, most Americans disagree with you. We are paying 2 billion a week for two wars we did not want to go. In addition to that, Bush gave a huge tax cut to the riches but he FORGOT to offset it by spending cut. The money has been and will continue draining until Dec 31, 2012. One third of debt was created by his tax break to the riches. I support Affordable Healthcare Act. American Medical Association, American Nursing Association, AARP are endorsing Affordable Healthcare Act.

On second thought, I am sure Romney is being honest when he tells us his heart aches. Cause today has uniformly bad news for Mitt Romney. He is way behind in the swing states of Florida, Iowa, and Ohio, and Pennsylvania is not swinging at all. It is solid blue.

The only bit of good news for him is that Missouri is looking out of reach of Obama.

Even Bill Kristol would have a hard time selling that as some Good News For Mitt.™

'Cause Romney is polling 8 - 10 % behind Obama in Ohio. And he cannot win wihtout OH.

Good times.

Again, I would like emphasize there is nothing wrong with Romney's campaign (marketing). Serrano: "As opposed to Obama, who is clueless and in over his head, but who, incredibly, will win re-election."

You need to read the current news, Serrano. The majority of the American public now believes the economy is getting better under Obama, not worse. But why don't you spell it out for us how Romney is going to create more jobs and save the economy -- because HE sure can't!

"Heck, if that was true, wouldn't most people think he would be worse for the economy than Obama?"

Again, read the news. As of yesterday most people DO think that. Only people with blinders on (aka, die-hard Republicans) still don't.

Imagine a job applicant saying to his or her boss (in this case the American public) that they'll hand over a job resume AFTER getting the job. They would never, ever get it, and rightly so. So why do you still believe in Romney?

Ron Paul! no wars, no corruption, freedom, liberty. In the meantime the brainwashed public spent endless hours going off on these silly news letters and his opinion on abortion and gay marriage. Get with the program folks!!!

No hire, no buying. Im talking about American corporations. Dont buy their stuff if they dont offer up more jobs. That is what they are supposed to be doing. Thats why they get the tax breaks. Why aren`t they? Once again, people being idle.

Unfortunately you are wrong about Obama not fooling everyone. Still in the wars, expanded the wars and added a few new ones, NDAA (wow is this out of control), police brutality (tasering people for asking a question?), military in the streets (fact!), spending the country into a massive pit, numerous executive orders, more and more. Are you sure he didnt fool anyone??? Amazing how this stuff isnt on the news eh? Amazing how he can convince people to not pay attention to these unconstitutional works of art.

Endless fiat money... Oh no!

The people have failed themselves for not standing up to this craziness. Obama and Romney are the same. Working for the elitist.

Mirai,

" there you go making things up again. Unemployment is going down hence, less people on welfare."

The employment rate dropped marginally according to "official " numbers, however the more accurate measurement is the employment participation rate, which has dropped significantly. This measures not only new jobless benefits claims reflected in official unemployment numbers but also the millions who have exhausted their unemployment entitlements and have given up looking. And then there are the underemployed who have taken essentially menial jobs in hopes of just putting bread on the table. The real numbers are much higher than the official ones.

On a serious note and without getting to personal on a public board. I will never be in the hypothetical situation that you describe. I've made decisions over the past years to make sure that I will never have to depend or rely on the Government to take care of me as I move on with my life's journey. BTW...military = government...so you did depend on the government to get you through tough times. If there was no govt, there would be no military, and no job for you.

I would say that it was the American people that depended on folks like me to provide for the common defense through the aegis of the Government to provide for the common defense. No one questions that this a legitimate and necessary part of any Government's function, whether it be in a Democracy, Theocracy, Socialist or any other form in a nation state.

@pointofview, I guess you are a libetarian. I have a trouble understanding views of Ron Paul's and CATO institute.

They are listed as follows:

1) Ron Paul wants to abolish US FED Reserve. He believes US dollar has to be pegged to commodity. When doing this, we are willing to give up a power to control inflation, deflation and depression. Who will? The global commodity hawks will control US government. Who will regulate US banking rules and regulations? Are we ready to go back to unregulated Credit Default Swap mess that tanked our economy? Are we willing to give up FDIC?

2)Ron Paul's interpretation of Liberty is that everything has to be privatized including police, fire fighters, environment agency, education, national &state parks, medicare, social security and unemployment EXCEPT US military. How does it work? Do they come when we need them? Or are we allowing them to discriminate certain social groups in America?

3)Ron Paul wants US to exit from the United Nations. How does it work when we have conflict? How do we achieve peaceful solutions? How do we protect international journalists, NATO soldiers and etc?

Do you want to go back to the days of the great depression when people were literally dying in the streets? >This is part of the reason why government even exists

The government was NEVER created to care for a nation of 350 million people, impossible, NO way, Obama his majesty is trying to do that now that is why the economical situation is so bad. 32 million Americans without a job, many of them just dropped out of the job market and didn't file any claims. Wow, Big government, big disaster! Another 4 more years of Obama will lead to a the great depression.

No one has EVER said that its the government's responsibility to care for you from birth to death. We're saying >that everyone should get the essentials for life. EVERYONE. If a person cannot provide on their own due to >disabilities, lost job, sickness...then the government should assist until the can provide for themselve. This >was ALWAYS the idea...to give a hand UP not and hand OUT.

Fine, I would agree with that and most conservatives to a point and depending on the situation they will determine if they need more assistance or not that, it just depends. It is a fundamental conservative philosophy, but for liberals, there is no end in the hand outs! It just keeps going and going and going and when is there an end??

It WAS a conservative idea (back in the days of Lincoln) before conservatives lost their minds. Now it everyone >fends for themselves. And they should receive assistance as long as it takes and only if they can prove that >they are making an effort to find work...which are all provisions for welfare and unemployment.

I don't think it's the conservatives that lost their minds, by the way things are looking in the US of A, Liberals have the midas touch when it comes to losing their minds. And especially when you think the government should help as long as it takes, with 32 million unemployed Americans with an economy that is spending 60 cents on the dollar, we are putting out a whole lot more than taking in.

Very true...there are rich people who pay very little or no taxes....some even manipulate the system so well >that they get tax credits. GE the parent company of NBC is NOTORIOUS for doing it.

The guy is totally unfit & is the poster boy for the kind of rich person the whole world hates, note not all rich folks are in that category but mitt is poster boy, a real putz. The with his 47% comments craps ALL OVER HIS OWN SUPPORTERS for christs sake! Because there is no way that 47% is all dems, you repub posters need to take off the blinkers & get a better view of whats what, your boy mitt HAS NO PLAN for anything, he is totally clueless!

Really? Then he is not fit to become the president, imagine those issues that will yield a vital heart attack, which, unfortunately, the US has a lot of them domestically already.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Both Romney and Obama have enough riches to make any of us look like peasants. The difference between Romney and Obama is that Obama has had four years as president to do something constructive and hasn't done much at all. The bankers still run amok, Gitmo is still open, there are terrorist attacks on the US embassy, the unemployment rate is still high and taxes and government spending are going up while real income is going down. That is not success; Obama is a failure. Hope and change has turned into an empty promise. Time to turn Obama out.

Two things. 1- @Simon, 9/27/12, 7:25pmJST, - EXACTLY! Extremely well said! Worth two thumbs up!

2- I am really beginning to think that Mitt may well be a formidable debate opponent. After all, he tends to take every side of every issue!

This is a summary of my views:

1) Averting another Great Depression

2) Rescuing the Auto Industry

3) Repealing the discrimination of “Don’t ask, Don’t tell”

4) Passing the comprehensive health care act

5) Ending the War in Iraq

6) Nominating two women to the U.S. Supreme Court

7) Killing Osama bin Laden

8.) Reduced unemployment and created 4.6 million new jobs

Last week, Rep Senate blocked Veteran Job Bills. GOP has blocked ALL 12 Balancing Budget proposals. You need to tell me when to stop. I can go on and on.............how GOP has been leading us into a wrong path. 90% of Americans may disagree with you.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

"what-obama-has-done... Reduced unemployment"

What was the unemployment rate when Bush left office, and what is it now, global?

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

@global

it has been going down. In 2008 before Bush was ready to leave, US was ready to go off the cliff and then to >the 2nd Great Depression. Obama created over 4.6 million jobs since he took office as of today. We should be >thankful we are not in the Depression with 25% unemployment like Spain. Please read more and more social >unrest in Spain and Greece. Obama is doing a great job.

Well, 73% of Americans would beg to differ. So out goes that argument, next.... http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0811/61031.html

then, we should make a choice for someone like you. You do not have to make any contributions to US >government for SSI, Medicare and Unemployment insurance. When you get sick, you will be on your own. >Thats sounds fair to me. No help for you.

Who's we? The way things are going and the way Obama is screwing up, in another 25 years, there won't be a SSI left.

I believe in progressive tax. The truth is people pay more on payroll tax. They pay sale tax, property tax, SSI >tax, State tax, UI insurance tax. Riches pay less tax on investment income. I know, bass, you are not paying >any of those at all to US government while you are in Japan. You are legally excused. You are not accumulating >qualifying points of US SSI and Medicare-"Zero" and NADA. You are in the 47% if you like it or not.

Of course you would, most socialists do! Just Ask Bernie Sanders and Lawrence O' Donnel, they feel the same. By the way, you have NO idea as to what I pay back in the US, NONE, so for you to even assume anything is extremely offensive. That's all I have to say to that idiotic statement, you don't have a single clue about my private life! Wise up.

under Obama's plan, people making under $250,000 has no tax hikes.

Again what a hock of garbage! The only problem with this "solution" is that it is dishonest. President Obama likes to give the impression that his plan to tax the rich can significantly reduce the deficit, a claim which is false and which Obama knows is false.

Everybody knows that the rich have a lot of money, so it may appear reasonable to non-economists that taking some this wealth can fill the hole in the budget. What the public doesn't know, and what President Obama will not tell them, is that there are just too few rich people in America for this plan to work.

According to the Congressional Budget Office, over the next 10 years the Obama budget will produce a deficit of $10.900 billion, or 5.3% of GDP on average.

According to the left's own calculations and as reported by the New York Times, Obama's plan to raise taxes on the rich will generate $700 billion in additional revenue over the next decade, or just a pathetic 0.3% of GDP.

In other words, the plan to raise taxes on the rich will only cover one out of fifteen dollars of deficit spending. Where is President Obama going to get the other fourteen out of fifteen?

To the $10.9 trillion in deficits we need to add the unfunded liabilities of Medicare and Social Security. According to the Trustees of these programs, the unfounded liabilities are a staggering $52 trillion.

Again, any honest economist who knows the facts can tell you that a measly 70 billion in revenue per year from the rich will not come close to cover Americas fiscal hole of at least 63000 billion dollars.

Sometimes you hear from the left that repealing the Bush tax cuts will raise 3.7 trillion over the next 10 years. That certainly sounds better! What is the difference between this figure and the 0.7 trillion figure I reported for the rich?

The answer is that the 3.7 trillion figure includes the Bush tax cuts for the middle class, which amount to 3 trillion over the next decade. The key to remember is that the Bush tax cuts mainly went to households making less than $250.000. Obama has no plan to repeal that part of the Bush tax cuts. The Democrats and their allies in the media who cite the 3.7 trillion figure are playing bait and switch and trying to confuse the public. But what if we taxed the rich even more? Didn't Warren Buffett promise taxing the wealth of billionaire's like him could solve the problem or something?

Forbes Magazine lists all American billionaires. Going by their 2010 numbers, American billionaires have around 800 billion in net worth.

Even if we could take confiscate all their assets without any risk to the economy, this one-time solution would just pay for around six months of the 2012 deficit Obama is running.

By opposing the tax increase for the rich based on the argument that it would hurt growth instead of pointing out how little revenue it generates, the Republican party has given President Obama a gift. The Democrats give voters the impression that the only obstacle in the way of fiscal balance are the Republican's, their rich friends and their supply-side ideology. This strategy works, because the public is as economists say "fiscally ignorant". Ordinary people simply don't know the relative magnitudes of the deficit, they only know the rich have lots of money.

The media meanwhile has only a selective interests in educating the American public. When miss-perceptions help the left the media suddenly loses interest in their duty to inform the policy debate.

most Americans disagree with you. We are paying 2 billion a week for two wars we did not want to go. Wrong again! No they don't, the polls show otherwise.

http://www.usnews.com/opinion/blogs/peter-roff/2011/08/25/poll-most-americans-think-the-federal-government-has-too-much-power

We are paying 2 billion a week and Obama is borrowing 3.5 billion a week, 2 wars one of them Obama said, we should fight the real war where the real terrorists are hiding and concentrate our troops there and that is Afghanistan, Obama wanted to move all our forces there, he increased the Drone attacks (good thing in my opinion) but that is Obama's war, so yes, as you said, paying for 2 wars, what you should be outraged about is why Obama still wants to give Pakistan 1.5 billion a year? 1.2 billion for Egypt, Libya 1.7 million to countries that are our enemies! And the WH said, even after what happened last week and the WH being so complacent, still WILL NOT cut ANY aid to these rogue countries! So again, yes, your President actively now is spending way too much on people that want to kill us, nice going.

In addition to that, Bush gave a huge tax cut to the riches but he FORGOT to offset it by spending cut. The money has been and will continue draining until Dec 31, 2012. One third of debt was created by his tax break to the riches.

Spinning again, are we?

http://www.cnn.com/2012/07/09/politics/obama-bush-tax-cuts/index.html

-4 ( +0 / -5 )

This is a summary of my views:

1) Averting another Great Depression So why do we have a $16T debt and still climbing?

2) Rescuing the Auto Industry Also wiping out all of its share holders that invested in GM, their stocks are worthless, money down the drain! Why doesn't Obama buy American Airlines, they're in trouble as well or NASA for that matter?

3) Repealing the discrimination of “Don’t ask, Don’t tell” Which was signed into law by Clinton. Only Liberals cared about it. As long as the soldiers do their jobs, no one cares. But we don't need to know a persons sexual orientation, no one cares except Liberals.

4) Passing the comprehensive health care act 32 million Americans needed to have their healthcare adjusted, NOT the entire country, why do the rest of our healthcare have to suffer for the entire country when 68% of Americans HATED IT, NOT to mention how are we going to pay for it.

5) Ending the War in Iraq Bush had already started and set things in motion for the troop withdrawal Here are the facts: All US Forces were mandated to withdraw from Iraqi territory by 31 December 2011 under the terms of a bilateral agreement signed in 2008 by President Bush. The U.S. troop withdrawal from Iraq was completed on 18 December 2011 early Sunday morning Obama ended nothing, Iraq was already a done deal, now if you want to say, he oversaw the troops withdrawal, fine. But ending it, nope.

6) Nominating two women to the U.S. Supreme Court That's a big accomplishment?

7) Killing Osama bin Laden On that, I give him credit, after consulting with Bush as to what SEAL team would be the best, Bush recommended SEAL team 6 to get the job right. Hey, if you liberals can blame Bush and keep blaming him for the stat of the economy, then you should praise him for guiding Obama in the right direction for aiding him in killing OBL.

8.) Reduced unemployment and created 4.6 million new jobs But we still have 32 million without jobs $16T outstanding debt and 8.1% unemployment and you want to pat yourself on the back for that? A pebble in the ocean.

Last week, Rep Senate blocked Veteran Job Bills. GOP has blocked ALL 12 Balancing Budget proposals. You >need to tell me when to stop. I can go on and on.............how GOP has been leading us into a wrong path. 90% >of Americans may disagree with you.

And why is that?

This violates the Budget Control Act, there is no dispute about it,” Sessions said in a floor speech Wednesday. “The bill will not even go through the House and it violates the Constitution because it says revenue bills must be started in the House ... [and] this is a revenue bill.”

The $1 billion bill was to have paid for itself with new revenue over 10 years. Republican senators say the bill allows for more spending at the Veterans Administration than what was agreed to in the Budget Control Act, which is why they raised a point of order.

Sen. Tom Coburn (R-Okla.) said these types of pay-go bills are part of the problem of the growing national debt.

“The question in my mind is, will we at some point in the future recognize the hole we’re in,” Coburn said on the floor Wednesday. “When we find ourselves in $16 trillion of debt and we pay for a five-year bill over 10 years, we make the problem worse.

Dems just think Conservatives are heartless, the GOP doesn't want to deny the vets anything, but Dems don't want to cut spending anywhere and while our national debt is climbing and spiraling out of control with no budget cuts, the GOP has to start somewhere since the liberals won't. Either you Amputate the patient or they will develop gangrene and eventually die.

Yes, I could go on and on about how this President screwed us and is still screwing us all. Smart Americans are waking up that the Obama dream is a Horror that would put Hellraiser to shame!

gw, AGAIN the legality of the recording but a point of interest, so you can give up the lawyering. As law professors and other legal experts have noted, there are merits for both sides and that is interesting, but what Romney said was the unvarnished truth which the far-left and lamestream media despise. Were such a video to surface about the Dear Leader, the media would be on a rabid witch-hunt to out and prosecute the leaker on some trumped up charge.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

No, Herve, he is running for US Presidential election. I do not know if you understood my point through Sullivan vs New York Times, but I will make it very simple for you to understand. When Romney is running for public office, he was willing to give up his personal immunity for punitive damages from media. You may want to consider other cases in the past. I will just list one case Gary Hart who was running for Presidency. He was forced to drop the race due to scandal secretly revealed to media without his acknowledgement.

During that time we talked about the same issue as you pointed out. There was no remedy as he was running for public position. Other good example is a Watergate case. Well, you know the whole story.

Well, Romney can try to reverse the US Supreme Court case, but I seriously doubt it.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gary_Hart

then I have a question for you. How come did American Recovery Act passed without any problems?

From the left's point of view, it did work. They paid off their constituents, contributers, and restocked union pensions depleted electing democ=Rat pols, all with taxpayer money, and left them flush for years to come.

GOP has been using this excuses for all Budget Balancing proposals and they are TWELVE of them.

Sometimes, I wonder where and how you make this stuff up.

the unvarnished truth which the far-left and lamestream media despise

Except that its not the truth. Its Romney's perceived truth that the people who are not voting for him are all poor, on welfare, and looking hand outs. Far from the truth. The 47% (which is more like 54% now) are people from all walks of life, from all socioeconomic backgrounds, the educated and uneducated, all ethnic backgrounds, and all ages who believe America should be a place that gives EVERYONE a FAIR CHANCE to succeed. Romney believes that either you have it or you don't, and if you don't have it, well sad day for you; you just have to go through life being poor and dependent on welfare AND went as far as saying that he doesn't care for those people.

Romney believes that just by being an American, you are already 95% set to succeed, and that everyone in America is born with a silver spoon up their ass like he was. THIS is NOT the unvarnished truth. The truth is that there are people who are born with two strikes against them, and are destined to fail, merely from the environment that they live and are brought up in. Do you think these people will have an equal chance to go to Harvard Law and Business and succeed as Romney did if there is no government assistance?

Romney cheer leaders may argue that both Mitt and Ann also went through hard times and managed to get through it by themselves, but the reality is THEY GOT A LOT OF HELP. Your average college student has work to pay for tuition and pay off loans as they put themselves through school. For the Romney's, when times got tough, they had to cash in the many stocks that Romney owned to get through. Do you think that the average college student OWN STOCKS?? This is the disconnect...this is where Mitt doesn't get it. When people run out of money, they need a safety net...and unlike him, most people don't hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of stocks, have trust funds set up, or have multi-millionaire daddies to catch them when they fall. When most people fall, they suffer devastating sometimes irrecoverable consequences. All that Obama is trying to provided is a SAFETY NET; just in case all goes wrong (you lose your job, you or someone in your family gets sick, or you simply need help to get a loan with a reasonable interest rate to start a business or got to school) that the government can help make that happen. THAT'S THE UNVARNISHED TRUTH.

And "lamestream media"...really? We're really going to quote Sarah Palin? Doesn't make your argument any more intelligent.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

America should be a place that gives EVERYONE a FAIR CHANCE to succeed. Romney believes that either you have it or you don't, and if you don't have it, well sad day for you; you just have to go through life being poor and dependent on welfare AND went as far as saying that he doesn't care for those people.

That's NOT what Romney was saying, you either get up off your ass, do what you need to do to get by, who cares what job you take, as long as money is coming in, it's better than NOT having a job. In my life I have taken some really crappy filthy jobs that would make Mike Rowe proud and I never b*tched or moaned or complained about anything, that is why I have money! If you are sick or disabled, I think, YES, we should do what we can, but if you are able-bodied, I will give you a limit, the tools to help you, but if you want to succeed, you need to have less dependency on the government and jobs need to be created especially in the private sector, so that people can pay taxes and revitalize the economy, pay property taxes and stimulate growth overall. Romney or any rich person wants everyone to succeed, but the truth of the matter is we have too much intrusion from the government and the Democ-RATS want to breed a nation of zombies and the Dems hoping their party numbers swell by promising people with government goodies, that is what is ruining America!

This is absolute madness! Obama is a welfare President and that spells Failure! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tqrl9zZvrgc&feature=related

... jobs need to be created especially in the private sector, so that people can pay taxes and revitalize the economy, pay property taxes and stimulate growth overall.

This kind of stuff is really quite patronising. I've been a dependent, I've hated every second of it and done whatever I could to avoid it. One time I was laid off, largely due to stupid rich company executives being allowed to get away with whatever stupid decisions they wanted to make due to "light touch regulation," and there wasn't a day that went past that I didn't want to get back to work. Thankfully I did. According to you, liberals such as myself would rather be hanging around the house, playing World of Warcraft on a PC that I was able to buy thanks to overly generous hand-outs from covert Bolsheviks in government. At least Romney had the basic decency and civility to say that Obama cares about the poor and middle class as much as he does but has the wrong idea about helping them. You should try following his example rather than Rush Limbaugh's.

I do appreciate your posts and respect your views though I disagree with them. As the news cycle moves on and this article will fade away due to movement of the respective campaigns and coverage. I wish to leave you with this from a very wise man. It sums up my view perfectly on how to really help the poor than any Government program could ever hope to do. For your consideration:

“I am for doing good to the poor, but...I think the best way of doing good to the poor, is not making them easy in poverty, but leading or driving them out of it. I observed...that the more public provisions were made for the poor, the less they provided for themselves, and of course became poorer. And, on the contrary, the less was done for them, the more they did for themselves, and became richer.”

Here's what I don't get. Mitt says he knew all along that the stimulus package didn't work (which is wholly untrue and that he's had the answer for the economy.

Well, why was he such a selfish son of a gun, he decided to keep that knowledge to himself until the election. If you love your country as much as you say, you would have shared your secret formula for pulling getting the country running again.

I thought the same thing about John McCain. For years, he said he had the solution to the problems in the ME, but he wouldn't institute them until elected. Did he share that information with the president so that we can have safer country. Nope, he selfishly kept it to himself. His election and ego trumped the situation in the ME.

The truth of the matter is this: Mitt Romney is a douchebag. If you want a douchebag to lead the country, I'm inclined to think you might be a douche too.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

You really crack me up. Are you from the South? I love the way stupid southerners talk about personal responsibility when their state is receiving hand-out money because they can't balance their budget.

OK, Mr. Individual Responsibility, Are you going to donate your money to your state? NOPE. You're going to sit on your arse and wait for your state to get more welfare money from the North.

Individual responsibility my ass. Bunch of parasites.

It's quite eye opening in many ways, not just on Media Bias but also on how we as humans perceive video and audio and also process words appearing at the same time as the images and audio and how it can manipulated by those with an agenda.

No I hear it now on a traditional computer. My opinion?

Some people have too much time on their hands to notice such things I guess.

Frankly, he's doing so poorly right now they people don't need to be trying these antics. Have a good one, still morning here GMT+1 :-I

"Ha ha. We're in the stretch aren't we? Look at those clouds. It's beautiful. Look at those things."

Willard Mitt Romney

I'm assuming he was campaigning in Alaska at the time because he sounds like he got his hands on some manatuska thunderfork. Were there any Cheetos nearby when he said that? Enquiring minds and all that.

Mitt has definitely a governor stature for a US centric state, but definitely not for a worldwide power country!

Santelli, My Newest BFF (Cause you make things so easy)

The mid-terms were a disaster for the Democrat Party. Historic losses.

The same kind of "disaster" that 06 and 08 were for you Repubs? The same kind of "historic losses"? Yeah, I guess with someone whose view of history fails to span beyond one election cycle...

True. True. Nothing has changed. It's not like we were falling off a cliff that George the Bush Driver and his Band Of Merry Republicans didn't drive us over. Remember when the economy was imploding? Oh yeah, that was more than two years ago. Silly me.

Ok: remember OBL is dead? That was May of last year, so well within your two year memory...No?

Well, Americans do.

Well, for the record... our Affirmative Action President

Excellent! Could not have said it better myself. 'Cause Obama didn't win in 08. Nope. He didn't get beat McCain by over 7 points in the popular vote. Obama didnt get 365 electoral votes -- I must have imagined that. Nope. The librul lame stream media appointed him. Thus, our first AA president.

Or, maybe, just 'cause he is black you say that. And that is not racist in any way.

PS. I do confess Obama probably isn't really American either. Cause he's Kenyan.

PPS. On second thought, though, Bush did lose Florida in 2000, and so was appointed President by the Supreme Court. SInce Bush is a moron, I'm tinkin he is actually the First Affirmative Action President: Appointed, not Elected, and done so b/c he is a member of a disadvantatged group.

Sailwind.

The two quotes are not comparable. Americans want a President who worries about them. We do not want a President whose own wife worries about his 'Mental Well-Being."

Note to Republicans: worrying is a common human emotion for people who care about something. Mental well being includes those who suffer from dimentia, psychosis, and delusions.

Thank you Team Republican for yet another gopher ball! Looks like the Repubs are still playing Bush League.

Romney's heart aches for jobless

So he just outsources them to a third world country too, so he doesn't have to look at them (sometimes they obstruct his view of Ann's prize horses the curs). Easy peezy Japanesey.

If Mr Roboto-man would have not outsourced American jobs in the first place the unemployment would not be so high.

Romney and his ilk closed American business'and then sent those jobs to China all in an effort to make a profit and now he feels their pains?

More proof that Mr Roboto-man does not have a heart.

How often this is repeated, but never with any examples to make it credible.

Obama-san has failed to make any progress so I am forced to look at the competition. Romney's remarks where painful and may cost him the election. Please Pray for America as we are in a world of hurt.

What I want to know is this, if Mitt Romney is such a good businessman, why is his campaign $11 million in debt?

And HE'S going to fix the country? He can't even run a campaign.

What I want to know is this, if Mitt Romney is such a good businessman, why is his campaign $11 million in debt?

He'll just have to tap the cool millions he keeps in the Caymans.

Or he could beg his supporters, like Obama does, to forego that next round of beers, or that next pizza, and send the cash to the guy who decried the role of big money in US politics but in 08 outspent every candidate in the nation's history.

omg! . . . . He has no heart.

His wallet and need for power are the pains he feels.

Here is the source of Romney's pain: To oust the Democratic incumbent, Romney would need to take up-for-grabs Florida, Colorado, Nevada, North Carolina, New Hampshire and Virginia, which would put him at 267 votes, and upend Obama in either Ohio or Iowa.

According to the National Debt clock the US has a national debt of 16,123,376,000,000 (I placed zeros in due to the fact that every second it climbs up one hundred thousand dollars), is Obama responsible for this debt; which no one ever talks about? When the top US auto makers from GM to Ford are in South Africa and other parts of the world; taking American jobs along with them; whose responsible for this. Is Obama responsible for this or is US industry? Can Obama demand US companies who set up sweat shops over seas to bring jobs back here; would they listen? No! Big Business listens to their bottom line;profits over people.

No! Big Business listens to their bottom line;profits over people.

Yes, $16.1 trillion in debt. Does Obama care about the people - the children and grandchildren that must pay the back the debt he is racking up faster than any other president in history? No! Big Government is only interested in the bottom line - more bureaucracy over people! Obama's heart aches for an America with fewer people on food stamps.
