Enjoy the honeymoon in campaign while they can. It will soon be changed as they are pulling a rug underneath from Seniors, Retired Veterans, Disability, Unemployed.and College Students.

If I am allowed, I would like to tell you that:

Paul Ryan supports ending Medicare. I support Medicare for All.

Paul Ryan supports lowering taxes on the rich. I want the rich to finally pay their fair share.

Paul Ryan thinks the way to create jobs is tax giveaways for Big Oil, Wall Street, and other big corporations. I'm a small businessman who fights for the little guy.

Paul Ryan is pro-life. I am pro-choice.

Paul Ryan is pro-guns. I am against guns.

Paul Ryan is regressive. I am progressive.

Tell me when to stop.......

Good luck to all of us on November 6th, 2012 to do our jobs to vote in full concience for our dream, hope and future.

God Bless America.

“I don’t want to be like Europe. I want to be like America,” Romney said.

Bingo, Mr. Romney

We working Americans have seen what democrat-type policies did when implemented in Greece.

Thanks, but no thanks.

Republicans will cut people programs and build missile programs. They will call the people programs "wasteful spending," and will call the missile programs "necessary to keep our country strong. " On the income side, the rich will be taxed less, and the poor and middle class will be taxed more. I've seen this movie before.

9 ( +13 / -4 )

“I don’t want to be like Europe. I want to be like America,” Romney said.

Then you'd better get rid of those tax cuts for the rich.

8 ( +11 / -3 )

The dooms day Dems that have the correct (only) answer for everything will be out in force telling US how bad everyone else is that doesn't follow them blindly, please just get out and vote for America this time...

-5 ( +3 / -7 )

Taxing the rich I have nothing against ideologically but it would be a literal drop in the bucket to the tens, possibly hundreds of trillions the country is under with debt and entitlement obligations. Plus it is based on the false premise that they would even pay. The super-rich would either leave the country or move their money around the globe. Unfortunately the choices faced by America are not that simple.

-1 ( +4 / -5 )

“I think that Mitt Romney appreciates and admires the work and the ideas that Paul Ryan has done. But Mitt Romney has his own plan,” said Reince Priebus....."

No he doesn't. Unless he is doing the same thing with his "plan" as he is with his taxes - hiding them from the American people.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

The super-rich would either leave the country or move their money around the globe.

Bullpucky. All anyone is asking is that the tax CUTS under Bush be eliminated like they were supposed to be. They were TEMPORARY tax cuts. Nobody left because of the taxes before Bush, and nobody will leave after the tax cuts are gone. If they do, then good riddance!

9 ( +11 / -2 )

cherished entitlements

That these exist at all, anywhere, is a scourge of society.

-6 ( +5 / -11 )

“I don’t want to be like Europe. I want to be like America,” Romney said.

What a ridiculous comment. Amazing Superlib (above) didn't call Romney out on it.

No one's asking Mitt to "be like Europe."

No, we're only asking him to put working class Americans first.

But Mitt Romney refuses to do this, like he refuses to present his tax returns.

Mitt's strategy is: Protect The 1%.

Screw everyone else.

Time for conservatives to wake up to the anti-America agenda of Romney/Ryan.

4 ( +8 / -4 )

They were TEMPORARY tax cuts

Income taxes themselves were also promised to be TEMPORARY when they were needed to pay for the civil war.

-5 ( +6 / -11 )

... "a few of us are endeavouring to raise a fund to buy the Poor some meat and drink and means of warmth. We choose this time, because it is a time, of all others, when Want is keenly felt, and Abundance rejoices. What shall I put you down for?"

"Nothing!" Scrooge replied.

"You wish to be anonymous?"

"I wish to be left alone," said Scrooge. "Since you ask me what I wish, gentlemen, that is my answer. I don't make merry myself at Christmas and I can't afford to make idle people merry. I help to support the establishments I have mentioned -- they cost enough; and those who are badly off must go there."

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Lizz,

"The super-rich would either leave the country or move their money around the globe."

Would that mean they might hoard in the Bahamas or Switzerland?

Hey, wait a minute...

1 ( +4 / -3 )

The super-rich would either leave the country or move their money around the globe.

Sounds like someone is living in fear.

“I’ve got good news for you. And that is that this nation is going to come roaring back,”

Since Romney won't be winning the election, this might be true!

No, its not true in any case. The Republicans caused the mess, and now they try to blame the janitor trying to clean it up. Superman himself would need more than four years to clean it up. And token cuts from our grossly bloated military is not going to do it.

-10 ( +2 / -12 )

“I don’t want to be like Europe. I want to be like America."

Or at least like some countries in the Americas. Perhaps this should be rephrased as, "I want to be like Honduras."

0 ( +4 / -4 )

An empire in decline..... Doesn't matter who the next Emperor is.

-9 ( +3 / -11 )

Terrifying thing is that Mitt probably actually believes his own lies and rhetoric and his followers are too under-informed to realize it.

-3 ( +3 / -6 )

...bent on dismantling cherished entitlements like public health insurance and pensions for seniors.

These programs are dismantling themselves because they are financially unsustainable.

“I don’t want to be like Europe. I want to be like America,” Romney said.

Well said. All of the major entitlement programs are going broke because Democrats are hell bent on keeping them exactly as they are. It's unbelievable and irresponsible. America is headed to a financial calamity - not only due to Obama but many of both parties to be him. Yet Democrats are driving America out of the ditch and over the cliff Thelma and Louise style with their foot on the gas pedal. Europe is going over the fiscal cliff - the US doesn't need to follow them.

6 ( +6 / -1 )

"Income taxes themselves were also promised to be TEMPORARY when they were needed to pay for the civil war."

@gaijininfo:

What POS history book did you get your information from??!! LMAO

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

Terrifying thing is that Mitt probably actually believes his own lies and rhetoric

If that is true it would only last five minutes though. It would not be possible for him to believe all the things he says at the same time, as it all changes given the audience.

-11 ( +1 / -11 )

If Mittens thinks he can end the president's War on Prosperity and return us to the freakin 1950s and the one percent dodging their taxes and hoarding their ill-gotten lucre in Switzerland or Bahamia he has another thing coming. THAT is something I can see CLEARLY when I read all the wonderful comments from the non-Americans who have obviusly been swayed by Barack's awesome rhetoric of hope and change. Four More, baby!

0 ( +3 / -3 )

Hope and Changey Pasqi,

Dude you ran out of material 6 years ago. Pretending to be a democrat has never heled your karma in the past...

1 ( +2 / -1 )

When you actually look at what Romney's "plan" is, it's eye-opening stuff.

Romney is running on a budget plan that doesn't balance the budget (for at least 28 years), cuts Medicare, robs people of the Social Security taxes they've been paying in for decades, guts social programs, raises taxes on the working class, and cuts tax for the rich.

Am I dreaming?

Only America-hating conservatives and America's enemies would support Mitt Romney and his destructive agenda.

-1 ( +5 / -5 )

sushisake3 - you and madverts are great Americans. True patriots.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

Paul Ryan has an "interesting" voting record.

Makes you wonder why Mitt even considered him in the first place.

Ryan voted for the Bush tax cuts and now wants to make them bigger. Ryan voted for TARP, he voted for Medicare Part D and against negotiating with drug companies like the VA, he voted for the Iraq War, than voted for budget supplementals to keep the war spending off the books, not to mention the no-strings-attached auto bailout that Bush did.

The bottom line is Ryan voted for every deficit-exploding initiative George Bush ever proposed. Ryan is often described as a fiscal conservative with integrity, yet his voting record indicates he's a fiscal conservative only when a Democrat is in the White House, otherwise he isn't.

Paul Ryan is just another partisan Republican politician, who votes straight party politics rather than the strengths of a bill, which makes him party hack more than anything else.

6 ( +11 / -4 )

What this all boils down to is the right wing using a deep recession as an excuse to decrease/remove entitlements. It's ploy that's worked in the past and they know this is their moment. Crisis and urgency are what they're preaching and the average working class person will be the big loser.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

HopeAndChange2012 - America needs more patriots.

You can say that again! Romney was in Poland and Lech Walesa, who was an Enemy of the State (just check Wikipedia!) endorsed him! Kiss of death. Lemming Day, here we come. Hahaha, too funny !

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

It’s hugely hilarious watching the conservatives on this and other sites pretending they “love” America while at the same time vowing their support for Romney/Ryan, who will tear America to pieces if they ever get near the White House.

What bizarro world are the conservatives living in ?

0 ( +2 / -2 )

Obama can't lose, he recently took away the requirement that welfare recipients at least look for work, add in the millions of drug users sure to vote for this admitted former cocaine user, and the government employees (he has hired 300,000 more in three years in office) that should carry any election.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

I tremble at the horrors that await us all - worldwide - these next few months though. The lies and rhetoric and dog whistles concerted Faux News blitz that Romeny and Ryan are going to use to get 60 million Americans who vote rethug to forget their best interests and that of their children and instead do all in their power to protect the less than 1 million Americans who are the One Percent (and are ALL Rethugs, of course). Like bush ( sorry, I REFUSE to capitalize his name, it is my way of fighting back - and WINNING!) these two are complete dolts but do possess an evil genius of sorts (strictly speaking, I don't really believe in good or evil though. or religion or morality in general...) .

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

@global

You sure like to repeat yourself.

I would like to inject the following message if I am allowed.

You most certainly may!

Paul Ryan supports ending Medicare. I support Medicare for All.

Again, Not TRUE, but nice try, but that claim has been debunked...again.

http://www.factcheck.org/2012/07/no-end-to-end-medicare-claim/

Paul Ryan supports lowering taxes on the rich. I want the rich to finally pay their fair share.

The rich already pay their fair share of the taxes and the majority of all taxes, period. So it's fair that the rich pay the majority, but the poor paying almost nothing is ok, fair, they should be exempt?

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052970204555904577168683705018156.html

Paul Ryan thinks the way to create jobs is tax giveaways for Big Oil, Wall Street, and other big corporations. I'm a small businessman who fights for the little guy.

Nice try, but again, spin. If you are for the little guy, then you should want a good tax incentive, but since you liberals want tax the crap out of big business, you have them relocating to countries like Dubai or China, where we need jobs in the US, but as long as liberals want to suck big businesss dry, they will just fold up, close shop and move somewhere else taking hundreds of jobs. Funny, I never heard of a poor person getting a job from another poor person. My parents have a very large business that employees about 45 people, but thanks to Obama and soon to be implemented Obamacare, they will lose their original health plan and will have to adopt Obama's. My parents can't afford it, so they will either have to cut their salaries or drop them, in our home town, small businesses are being taxed into extinction, you guys want your cake and eat it too at the expense of everyone. As a so called person that supposedly knows economics you should now what over taxing can do. California should be a prime example and as a role model of how liberal policies fail every time when it comes to the economy.

Paul Ryan is pro-life. I am pro-choice. Tell me when to stop...

I am both, so what's your point

Good luck to all of us on November 6th, 2012 to do our jobs to vote in full concience for our dream, hope and future.

God Bless America.

On that part, I'm with you there!

And winning? Sounds more like whining about someone who isn't even in politics anymore and like Bush cares how you spell his name. I'm sure, he's not losing any sleep over it. ROFL

http://www.factcheck.org/2012/07/no-end-to-end-medicare-claim/ This should make you feel better ...and this too. http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052970204555904577168683705018156.html

In that case, you should be horrified as to what the Dems, liberals and lets not forget the Obama network aka NBC will do as they always do spin everything in Obama favor. Of course and why not, since the only Conservative on that network is Scarborogh.

The real incompetent person is Obama, Biden is not even worth mentioning.

California....I mean, er America has been sold out a long time ago through liberal policies which started under this President that wants nothing more than to create a Dependent, financial, blood sucking system and more and more Americans are falling prey to the party of dependence which is not only pathetic and pitiful!

-7 ( +3 / -10 )

Paul Ryan was a good VP pick. Not because he's particularly intelligent or inspiring, he's a tool among tools actually, but because he's great at invoking ire across the aisle.

Since the pick Romney's twitter mentions are up, the press is moving, and people are talking. Every barb and sideways comment that Democrats throw is going to be catologed, processed, and dispensed to the conservative voter base like fuel. I don't agree with Republicans on a whole slew of issues but I can admire a good business stragetgy when I see one.

Paul Ryan supports lowering taxes on the rich. I want the rich to finally pay their fair share.

People keep throwing around fair but they never define exactly what fair is. I've never found the progressive income tax structure to be fair, rather I see it as a needlessly complicated structure that makes it more advantageous to spend time and money reducing tax basis rather than investing and innovating.

I'd support a lower end flat tax coupled with a national VAT, but hey, thats just me.

Paul Ryan thinks the way to create jobs is tax giveaways for Big Oil, Wall Street, and other big corporations. I'm a small businessman who fights for the little guy.

Big corporations like Solyndra, GM, and Goldman Sachs...oh wait those were companies that the President gave huge tax giveaways too. See you, like many others, only have a problem with giveaways when they go to causes you don't support. I don't support giveaways to ANY causes.

Paul Ryan is regressive. I am progressive.

Nah, you're all progressives. Republicans want to progress down one road of moral and economic tyranny, Democrats want to progress down a different road of moral and economic tyranny. Pick your poison, you get the same results.

No, we're only asking him to put working class Americans first.

I believe it's pretty clearly spelled out in several US documents that the government isn't supposed to put any citizen before any other citizen. I think the country would be much better off if that were the case. In fact, I'm hard pressed to think of any problem the government has actually solved that it didn't create in the first place.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Ahhgh! Just when they were on the verge of getting government small enough to drown it in the bathtub! Well, they've been in the political wilderness long enough that a few more generations will not seem strange to them.

when have liberals loved America, please, do give me examples. We had to get this President to say, pledge alligence, to wear a pin, being apologetic for just being American, not wearing a tie in the WH as if the job is at some country club. Yeah, I do believe that Obama hates and rejects the capitalist model which means, he hates what our nation stands for. Self-reliance, free market, but embraces all that what our forefathers ran away from.

It's clear who is the one that hates America.

-3 ( +4 / -7 )

I don't know, but I bet if Romney institutes a War on Poverty, it will involve nukes..

Romney attacked Obama as making the United States “more and more like Europe,” with its “chronic high unemployment, low wage growth and fiscal calamity right at the door.”

You went there and made a mess and now you are going to talk down about Europe as a whole? His International relations skills are amazing.

You went there and made a mess and now you are going to talk down about Europe as a whole? His International relations skills are amazing.

@ Al Stewart: Yet when something bad happens here in America, Europe is the first to poit out how bad things are in America, like for the fact that we don't have a National Health Care. But that's ok, just America bashing.

What POS history book did you get your information from??!! LMAO

@ toguro: Income taxes were used only in times of war in the past. The first was in the War of 1812, and as pointed out in the Civil War. The first peacetime income tax in the US was passed in 1894, when it was only 2% on income over $4000, which about only 10% of the people had income to qualify.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Do either of these clowns plan to save money by ending the perpetual bombing of foreigners and cutting the military budget? If not, the US will continue bombing its way to bankruptcy.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Romney has pulled a Palin here playing to the tea bagger base that does not support him by picking a no-name far right radical. But he will just fall more behind with the middle of the road voters who do not want to see their social security evaporate and the economy go into deeper depression-which bush took the country into just four years ago.

Like Romney, the more americans learn about Ryan the more they will hate him. He loves Ayn Ryan for crying out loud who besides being an atheist was a selfish immoral loser.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

I'm still waiting for the conservatives on Japan Today to deny that by supporting Ryan (and Romney) they want to slash welfare benefits for their mothers and grandmothers.

Because that's the bottom line: a vote for Ryan (and Romey) is a vote to punish their own mothers and grandmothers, not just financially but in terms of end-of-life comfort, mental stability, etc.

Funny how the conservatives just roll over and surrender when you drive a stake through the heart of reason.

That's staggering when you think about it: the conservatives will vote to lavish luxuries on the 1% while stripping their own nearest and dearest of probably the only incomes they have.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

What's up with Paul Ryan's count Dracula style hair part? Guess he can't wait to drain the life out of both the medicare and social security systems if he lucks out and wins.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

Let me take a wild guess that he did not say HOW he would perform the miracle, just that he would.

At this point, most people have stopped listening to this kind of message.. It's just going to be a long steady stream of nonsense. Liberals are bad. Conservatives are good. We get it. Go have a beer. It's almost noon.

Being a liberal doesn't make you bad, but not listening to the people and taking it upon yourself to think for the masses makes you bad, which is what most liberals do, again and again and again, go figure.

@Sushi

The Conservatives are chomping at the bit to slash benefits for their own mothers and grandmothers

Sigh....wrong again.

http://www.factcheck.org/2012/07/no-end-to-end-medicare-claim/

That would ge hilarious if it wasn't so sad.

It's totally hilarious, because it's not true.

When did the conservatives EVER know what was best for America in recent history?

Yes, when? Let's walk throught it.

Romney- Conservative.

AMC- Entertainment. Burger King Clear Channel Communications Dominoes Pizza Dunkin' Donuts Guitar Center The Sports Authority Staples Toys "R" Us Warner Music Group

Obama-Liberal

Solyndra-Bankrupt Ener 1-Bankrupt Beacon Power-Bankrupt Abound Solar-Bankrupt Amonix Solar-Bankrupt Spectra Watt-Bankrupt Eastern Energy-Bankrupt Obamacare-will Bankrupt the nation in no time! All money from campaign donors, contributers and what did they get for it, nothing!

So the real question should be, what have liberals done that IS destroying the country?

Was it when they supported two hugely expensive wars in the name of fighting terra?

as I recall, your president, the anointed one chose Afganistan as the battle ground and said, that's where where Obama continued the war, which helped in getting the country accumulate more debt. If you are going to lay the blame at least be fair about it.

Was it when they voted for g Dub's tax cuts for millionaires to protect The Job Creators who aren't creating jobs?

How can jobs be created when Obama doesn't cut back on spending, taxing corporations to the point where big businesses move overseas, thus hindering and hurting small businesses that can't even pay their employess, let alone their families.

Or perhaps it was when the conservatives supported the deregulation of financial markets that caused the global economic meltdown on their watch?

To a point that's true, to a point, but why? Barney Fank and Chris Dodd two main democrats that were head and overseers of the housing committy, believing ( as liberals do) that everyone should have a house, everyone, even if they can't pay their mortgage, they were still writing them up, when they shouldn't have been. Frank boasted that the economy was solid and many people beloved in his words and what happened? They lost everything, that part was hugely and mostly on Dems watch.

I'm sorry, the answer is clearly 'never.'

ROFL

Going to be fun watching Conservative Implosion 2012.

Cockiness was the Dems undoing in 2010 and looked what happened, but cockiness is what Dems and liberals are famous for.

Conservative Implosion 2008 was hilarious.

How many times are you going to repeat that outright lie, it was debunked, that is a total and inaccurate statement.

Because that's the bottom line: a vote for Ryan (and Romey) is a vote to punish their own mothers and grandmothers, not just financially but in terms of end-of-life comfort, mental stability, etc.

Bass, myself and many Global Liberals on JT have picked the wining horse again and again, whether it was that candidate Obama would take down Hillary in 2008, and then go on to win, that Palin was an abject disaster, the list goes on where Global Liberals on JT have been ahead of the ball and their conservative contemporaries.

However, I have to admit that I was out-thwarted by the conservatives this election cycle.

I seriously thought that after picking Palin in 2008, the conservatives would have done a whole lot of chin stroking and vowed not to pick another veep who would take down the presidential candidate.

Alas, I admit -  I WAS WRONG.

The conservatives have done it again.

Their veep pick is going to take down their top candidate.

Again.

Mark my words (and write them down on a piece of paper if you like) - when the conservatives realize their worst nightmare has come true the day after election day and that Ryan (and Romney) have had their sorry a*ses handed to them on a plate, you can rest assured that at least Global Liberals have a good handle on what's happening in your country.

@Scrote

Do either of these clowns plan to save money by ending the perpetual bombing of foreigners and cutting the military budget? If not, the US will continue bombing its way to bankruptcy.

Naw, we don't need to worry about that, since Obama is on an endless financial spending spree, that wasted TRILLIONS of USD and now that we have Obamacare and can't possibly pay for any of this, Dems already siphoned off and sucked the American people dry. I don't think you have to worry about that, Obama already slashed our military budget, everywhere else, he keeps spending like a drunken sailor on steroids. China and Russia are excited and I always wondered why they like Obama so much, well now that evidently clear.

It's just looney liberals want to eat your brain and no matter how you take an axe to them, they keep coming and coming, Resident Evil has nothing on them!

Currently, we brain-eating liberals have it, 49 % to 40%, says Fox News.

a vote to punish their own mothers and grandmothers, not just financially but in terms of end-of-life comfort, mental stability, etc.

@ SushiSake: You should take a look into the NHS manual in Britian. It doesn't say that they will "cut grandma from the cord" but the manual is written so that the doctor that does it will simply be able to say, "just following protocol." You really need to delve into the new health law, and really see what we have been sold. If anyone is going to pull the plug, it will be because of this new health act.

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

Paul Ryan supports lowering taxes on the rich. I want the rich to finally pay their fair share.

The "rich" already pay more in taxes than everyone else combined and then some. The problem isn't paying their fair share really. The problem is a tax code. The "rich" paying 10% is still a 100times to a 1000 times more in actual payment of taxes than the average household in America.

Dont blame the rich for making money. Blame your government for allowing a tax code that gives them breaks. What most do is not illegal and it just "sounds" ok for everyone to think that the rich don't pay, they do.

Make it a flat tax rate, like I think Ron Paul suggested, 10% across the board for everyone. The rich are still paying a million times more but then it's the same 10% for everyone.

Paul Ryan is regressive. I am progressive.

I would say you are socialist if anything. You want bigger government and government involvement in telling you what you can and can not do. You want government to dictate your life.

Ryan like most republicans want a smaller government, and I agree with that. Governments are a literal tax and burden on society as a whole. Outside of emergency services and security matters, what the government does is counter-productive to the economy as a whole.

Make government leaner, and let the states decide what they want to do. That was the original intent when the constitution was written.

Surprising pick. I'm not sure why Romney would go to the right. The radical right would die before voting for Obama so Romney should just consider those votes his without having to pander. He should have gone more moderate to get more indepedents.

SushiSake: Mark my words (and write them down on a piece of paper if you like)

Haha, I don't think anyone on JT with an IQ more than their toe nail would buy that.

You don't have to. So you think every reader on JT loves and supports Obama and think he's the greatest human being since Moses??

Where did you get that line - RedState.com ? :-)

No, MoveOn.org ;-)

Since when?

Since our founding fathers told the Brits to take a hike.

Coffee spray all over my lunch when I read that. :-)

Didn't your mom teach you that you should never watch TV or read when you are eating, but then again, my mom was conservative in her thinking about eating and talking at the dinner table. ;-)

You owe me Bass. :-)

Just gave you 3! You're welcome!

myself and many Global Liberals on JT have picked the wining horse again and again, whether it was that candidate Obama would take down Hillary in 2008, and then go on to win, that Palin was an abject disaster, the list goes on where Global Liberals on JT have been ahead of the ball and their conservative contemporaries.

Yawn...2008 was a totally different story. The people were tired of the Repubs and to a point rightly so and even a ficus could have won. Obama campaigned on a platform of hope and change (what a crock that turned out to be) and ending the war in Iraq, that Bush had already started and we are still in Afghanistan, where is the outrage of you liberals on JT about that? Obama promised and delivered NOTHING, but we did get ourselves more into debt. This is what I and many global Conservatives and Independents on JT thought and will do even more if elected to a 2nd term.

However, I have to admit that I was out-thwarted by the conservatives this election cycle.

Hey, it could happen, why? Because you never know.

I seriously thought that after picking Palin in 2008, the conservatives would have done a whole lot of chin stroking and vowed not to pick another veep who would take down the presidential candidate.

Alas, I admit - I WAS WRONG.

The conservatives have done it again.

I don't think so, quite the opposite.

Their veep pick is going to take down their top candidate.

Or once Mitt can use his campaign funds, it can do quite the opposite.

As you said, you were wrong once in 2010 it can happen again. Don't make yourself look like a fool again.

I never thought being so wrong could be so funny. :-)

I love that the plight and severity of our nation and this election is funny to you.

Bring on November.

Ronald Reagan says,

"This bill demonstrates for all time our nation's ironclad commitment to Social Security. It assures the elderly that America will always keep the promises made in troubled times a half a century ago. It assures those who are still working that they, too, have a pact with the future. From this day forward, they have one pledge that they will get their fair share of benefits when they retire."

Romney has made his signature note as candidate running away from his signature achievement as an executive: Romneycare - but wait, it was a great idea when it needs to be, but not! His nomination as VP of a man whose signature legislative achievement would pin down any normal mortal to specifics, but not this candidate: Ryan's budget is now also being rapidly disavowed - but, wait, it is a great idea, but not!

Really, Romney should have nominated Schrödinger's cat - but then, one cannot nominate oneself as one's own VP.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

By picking Ryan, Romney has lost a lot of potential votes from women and independents.

Currently, we brain-eating liberals have it, 49 % to 40%, says Fox News.

I love how you liberals will stay away from FOX, but when it quotes stats like this one, you just want to use it to prove a point, hilarious. Now you do know polls change daily and you do hopefully know that once Romney is allowed to spend his campaign money and becomes the official nominee, these polls will change, but probably not the way, you want them to.

Eisenhower on Social security

"This is what I mean by my constant insistence upon "moderation" in government. Should any political party attempt to abolish social security, unemployment insurance, and eliminate labor laws and farm programs, you would not hear of that party again in our political history. There is a tiny splinter group, of course, that believes you can do these things. Among them are H. L. Hunt (you possibly know his background), a few other Texas oil millionaires, and an occasional politician or business man from other areas. Their number is negligible and they are stupid."

Hmm, then there is a problem, because most independents are not going to vote this time around for Obama, so now we have a serious conundrum.

bass4funk: "bama campaigned on a platform of hope and change (what a crock that turned out to be)"

And are you willing to admit the reasons why it ended up being a 'crock', as you say? It's a rhetorical question, since I know you will not -- the reason nothing has changed is because the party of 'no' has filibustered everything that Obama wanted to and tried to change, simply because they could. Check out the number of filibusters the Repubs have carried out since Obama took power compared to other times... isn't it something like five times the norm?

No matter who Romney chose as his running mate the liberal (entitlement mentality) posters on JT would go all Debbie Wasserman on us. The fact that Romney (soon to be know as President Romney) did not pander to any ethnic group and chose a running mate that has a complete understanding of the pending economic disaster (reflected in his budget plan) if we continue on the current road of spending shows he has the guts to face reality not just kick the problem down the road. Many of the JT posters love socialist-style programs like the Affordable Care Act, food stamps, Medcaid and other entitllements. But as Margaret Thatcher once said "socialism is great untli you run out of other people's money."

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

Madverts, thanks. :-)

Kinda weird.

At first glance I reckon Romney's done a McCain - picked a veep who will bring them both down.

By picking Ryan, RMoney's sewn up the votes of people who would rather hack off their own heads than vote Democrat.

So, what exactly does Ryan bring to the ticket?

No foreign policy experience.

No elderly statesman aura.

Zero military experience.

An already-out-there economic plan that would have conservatives voting to slash SS, MedicAid benefits of their own mothers and grandmothers......

I don't see any benefit at all besides the telegenic attraction.

Romney picking Ryan is about as smart as Billy Graham picking Mother Teresa to get out the Christian vote for God.

Maybe Ryan can see Moscow from Wisconsin?????

Maybe Bass or someone out there can offer a job for Romney after he gets hammered in the polls this November?

Maybe something in IT, window cleaning or tax avoidance scams?

I'll do one better. NObama makes Carter look like a half way decent and sane President, looking back on it all.

Maybe Ryan can see Moscow from Wisconsin?????

China can see NObama in the WH wondering when's the first payment coming in. Don't hold your breath!

Maybe Bass or someone out there can offer a job for Romney after he gets hammered in the polls this November?

If NObama loses, I'm sure the National Barack Channel will give him a spot next to blow hard Ed and Sharpton where he belongs, in the land of hypobolic spin!

Maybe something in IT, window cleaning or tax avoidance scams?

A job that not even NObama could get, because it involves a very critical element and that is: working.

All you really need to know about the difference between the choices this election:

House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan and Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner spar over debt. Transcript below:

Ryan: Here's the point, if you'll allow me. This is your time, so we'll just take a long time. Here's the point. Leaders are supposed to fix problems. We have a $99.4 trillion unfunded liability. Our government is making promises to Americans that it has no way of accounting for them. And so you're saying yeah, we're stabilizing it but we're not fixing it in the long run. That means we're just going to keep lying to people. We're going to keep all these empty promises going.

Geithner: Mr. Chairman, as I said, maybe we're not disagreeing in a sense. I made it absolutely clear that what our budget does is get our deficit down to a sustainable path over the budget window.

Ryan: And then they take back off.

Geithner: Why do they take off again? Why do they do that?

Ryan: Because we have 10,000 people retiring everyday and healthcare costs going up.

Geithner: That's right. We have millions of Americans retiring everyday, and that will drive substantial further rise in the growth of healthcare costs. We're not coming before you to say we have a definitive solution to our long-term problem. What we do know is we don't like yours.

Maybe Ryan can see Moscow from Wisconsin?????

@ SushiSake3: No he can't, but I bet that if he goes to the shore of Lake Michigan he can see Canada, and how their public health service is so great that a premire of Newfoundland decided to go to the US for surgery vice staying in Canda. But, I guess that will stop as soon as Obamacare goes into full swing.

Zero military experience

Neither does Obama or Biden. Using your logic, McCain should have won in 2008.

No elderly statesman aura.

I guess they will be shooting water guns on the White House lawn as Obama and Biden did once. Such elderly statesmen like qualities displayed by the VP.

No foreign policy experience

I'm a bit confused on this one. You libs kept saying America is sticking it's nose in everyone else's business, and we should focus more on things at home, yet now you want a person who is adept in the world of foreign relations. So which is it going to be.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Er, Bass, not quite sure how you got on that tangent.

I was clearly talking about a presidential candidate selecting a VP candidate.

You went off the rails a bit there, pal.

The only comparison that would have made your reply make any sense was if you compared Obama's picking of Joe Biden.

Sorry you lost the plot there.

Maybe have bit of a sit down? :-)

Check out the number of filibusters the Repubs have carried out since Obama took power compared to other times... isn't it something like five times the norm

Sure can:

Stimulus- failed didn't keep the unemployment under 8%

Auto bailout-disaster, got nothing from it

Green jobs-all failed!! Tax payer money down the toilet, again!

Home foreclosures- didn't help as much as he bragged it would help

Deficit spending through the roof, so bad, so much, he outspent Bush making Bushes debt seem like a $5

Won't allow drilling of the keystone pipeline

Hates anything that is FREE market

Remember, "you didn't build that!" insulting Americans that are Entrepreneurs

Wait, how much time do you have, I haven't even scrapped the surface yet!

Oh, and by the way, why shouldn't the Repubs NOT filibuster? Of course, they should, it goes against their principles. Why give Obama a blank check, when the man won't even compromise and cut on spending. He wants everything, but doesn't want to give up anything and then burdens the American people for more money, more taxes. Since when are Democracks fiscally responsible??? They had control of 3 branches for 2 years, Repubs marginalized, no power or say so whatsoever and what did they do? They blew it! No more!

That's ok, I'm good. Always on track.I didn't go on a tangent, it was a comparison of two men that liberals think Ryan just doesn't have any experience as a VP, contrast that to NObama who as the President, ALSO has NO experience in anything, so I guess, they mirror each other, the difference here is, NObama is already killing and destroying the country with his ZERO experience, Ryan is just a VP with NO experience, no alarm for anything :-)

Moderator: There is no such person as NObama. Please repost.

A Fox News national poll out Thursday put Obama at 49% to Romney’s 40%

And you believed it ???? A poll with a +9 Dem factor and such ridiculous voters sample with a supposed 17 % pro Obama Tea Party voters ??? Fox is trying to run from that poll now.

Rassmussen uses a more accurate partisan turnout model and is currently the most reliable polling outfit on the market. He lives and dies by the numbers and is not in the business of attempting to create news or manipulate public opinion through poll results.

1) Likely voters not Registered Voters.

2)It's automated so you are answering to a machine not a person (some people afraid of being called racist etc).

3)Rasmussen was within 0.5% of the actual vote in each of the last three Presidential Races.

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Sunday shows Mitt Romney attracting support from 46% of voters nationwide, while President Obama earns the vote from 44%. Five percent (5%) prefer some other candidate, and five percent (5%) are undecided.

So you don't know the difference between maintaining friendships and meddling in the affairs of others then? Or, perhaps you don't understand that "focus more on things at home" means focus more, not put all eggs in one basket, and not "ignore your friends". Why do conservatives need an "all or nothing" deal to have any comprehension of what people say? The world is a bit more complicated than that I'm afraid. We may have many disagreements, but that does not mean I am diametrically opposed to all your positions. Don't pigeon hole all liberals as in absolute agreement and don't put us all in a pigeon hole of being 100 percent opposite either please. Hell, don't even assume we all think Obama is perfect. I think he is simply the better of two bad choices.

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

LOL! Bass, you're sounding like a broken record more and more with every post.

It's true, what you call facts are just subjective opinions, especially in these posts.

I shouldn't have to spend time educating an American about American politics, but here goes.

Well, don't, I never asked for your help or opinion. Those days of listening to liberal teachers in school brainwash me with one-sided opinions are loooong over.

Because the filibustering is stopping Congress from doing its job.

Since when has Congress done anything concrete, especially the Dems, seriously??

So, you’re saying the GOP-controlled House should stop Congress enacting policies that will help Americans? Like provide jobs bills, and all that, the same jobs bills that the GOP have been blocking and then complaining there’s no jobs?

Why on God's green Earth would the GOP put their signature on a bill that supports the bill of billions in higher spending and tax increases. Obama and the Dems didn't want to cut ANYTHING, but they wanted to increase spending, increased, with an already OVER taxed nation?! So of course they blocked it and let me throw in for your own educational purpose. There were quite a few Dems (rightfully so and the right and smart thing to do) that also wouldn't put their John Hancock on it. You just don't get it, the Repubs would have been willing to work with this President if he wasn't so darn greedy in wanting to increase taxes and NOT CUT spending, so where do you stop the bleeding. Repubs know that the move would be unpopular, but for the greater good, it was the best that they could do with a President that is Uber-left!

C’mon Bass, you can do better than that.

I just did, you are most certainly welcome!

Why give Obama a blank check, when the man won't even compromise and cut on spending.

Won’t even compromise? Now I know you’re a conservative. Which party has said and voted ‘No’ against virtually EVERY bill they’ve laid eyes on when the Dems have controlled the WH?

I just said it. I'm not a Conservative, I lean more Conservative, but libertarian on other Issues, I'm an "independent" registered and proud! Again, The Repubs were chosen to stop the bleeding in Washington and they are doing just that, so expect more gridlock coming to a WH near you! And if NObama gets re-elected, Washington will turn into the "gridlock" city

That’s right the GOP.

Yes, the GOP, say it loud, say it with pleasure!

Bass, your case and credibility are dissolving by the minute…

Liberals usually say things like that once they get their drawers in a bunch!

Unlike the GOP, Obama and the Dems want stuff for the American people and working class. Hence all the jobs bills, infrastructure bills, renewable bills,….and the GOP has said NO to every single one of them.

Whoa, whoa, slow down, pardner... Unlike the GOP, you darn right, yes, Dems want stuff, FREE STUFF, other peoples Stuff, just as long as it's FREE, FREE, FREE...where it comes from worry about it later. If it's coming from the private sector, you won't hear a peep out of conservatives, digging into the wallet of the tax payer, you will have a problem!

And you wonder why people like me claim the GOP and conservatives are “anti-American”??

Well, if being fiscally responsible is the key to hinder us from becoming France, Greece and Portugal will stop us from falling off that cliff, to get our out of control debt under control then I guess, I am un-American (at least in libtards eyes)

Since when are Democracks fiscally responsible???

Google “surplus” and “Clinton.”

Hmm, very true, Clinton at least showed how it's done and was able to work alongside with Repubs and worked across the aisle and yes, he even mentioned that a few weeks ago, taking a jab at NObama.

http://www.letfreedomringblog.com/?p=13552

Oh, then you guys voted bush in and everything turned to cr*p.

We had the first 6-7 years of 4.7% unemployment, so before that we were fine.

Bass, mate, you need to up your arguments instead of humiliating yourself in front of everyone.

Don't need to improve anything, don't hate the player, hate the game/

I’ll give you a B+ for trying but an F- for credibility.

Thank you O'Sensei, I hope, I will be able to get grades good enough to enter Yale! Oh, shucks, my loan was declined to go to University, because we don't have any money, Ahh, now I remember, NObama spent it all! The well is dry!

It's a devastating economic quandary no doubt. Our debt is still growing. The slight reductions the GOP have achieved in slowing spending growth rates already threaten to put millions of government workers out of work. The cuts to discretionary defense spending alone mean 2 million lost jobs that are connected to U.S. Defense Department funding. But if we can't make substantial spending cuts, the U.S. federal debt rises to even more unsustainable levels, cripples the entire economy and shatters the dreams of millions of more Americans. What is your solution ?

No matter how the election turns out, one thing we can all take from this.

The mainstream media didn't report exactly what I wanted them to. They chose stories I wasn't interested in and presented facts that frankly scared me (facts do that when I'm channeling my inner conservative JT self) so there is OBVIOUSLY media bias and a conspiracy against me.

Because it's all about me.
