Unfortunately, there isn’t much the Feds can do. The people of Illinois need to show their displeasure at the ballot box.
SuperLib
It’s a great story for Trump who got elected partially by telling white people they are victims in the US. It’s been on the front page of Fox News since Day 1, being describe as “black privilege.” Because when you are a black man in America you get all the perks while white are disadvantaged.
Look for Trump to tweet about this crime 10x more than all of his white supremacy tweets combined.

Trump and Smollett are much alike. Neither can keep his mouth shut even when it’s in their best interest to do so. The entertainment industry disease.
Strangerland
Reminds me of the time he spent years harassing five wrongly-accused black men:

More birtherism type stuff from Trump.

The people of Illinois, in particular those in Cook (Chicago) and the counties surrounding it, are already showing their displeasure (at high and still rising tax rates) by moving out of the state. Chicago and Illinois are losing population.

It’s wrong and liberals know it. But their conditioning requires that they defend it. Even Rahm Emmanuel is being honest this time, even knowing Obama had something to do with it.
the lawyer said the Nigerian brothers could have worn “whiteface” that confused Smollett into thinking his atrackers were white. What?
Strangerland
I'm a liberal, and I haven't been defending 'it'.
I have however pointed out how he is as guilty as Trump and Hillary, something that you guys don't want to acknowledge because it leaves you in that uncomfortable position of having taken ever possible stance on the issue of where the bar is for 'guilt'.
bass4funk
They are because the backlash towards Whites is astounding, now Whites are dealing with a lot of reverse discrimination and that’s as bad as discriminating against minorities, hate is hate and it is never justified, whether Whites perpetrate it or if minorities perpetrate it, it’s all vile and repugnant.
Yes. Case in point, if someone white did what Smollett did, the condemnation would be merciless and rightfully so. If a White would have said what Omar said about Jews, that would be it, ask Steve King.
But Trump wasn’t trying incite a race riot, didn’t lie about being attacked by Whites and then blaming it on Blacks.

Nonsense and false equivalence. But the way to defeat attitudes like bass' is to acknowledge that the entire working class in America has been getting a raw deal, black, white, Latino. And it didn't start with Trump's election. Working people have far more in common than either identity politics or fearmongering xenophobia would have them believe. Which is why a wealthy actor and rich politicians bickering is such catnip for elites. It's a fantastic way to keep us at each other's throats.
Strangerland
When the left speak of 'elites', they are referring to the rich.
When the right speak of 'elites', they are referring to Hollywood.
When Trump argues with Hollywood, it's elites arguing with elites. The truth is:
One thing that was a real learning lesson to me growing up was realizing that the Republicans had mixed morality (fear) into their platform, convincing so many of the working man to vote for them, even when the fiscal policies of their party ran counter to the well being of said working men. The creation of team politics, tied up in morality (fear) and emotion, as it has caused so many people to vote emotionally with a party that logically is against their individual best interests.
bass4funk
I wasn’t talking about that, I was talking about the PC culture that has been crushing White people and has been directed towards them and everything they say and do is scrutinized to the point, identity politics is making it seem like being White is a sin and is a bad thing. The constant attacks, push down and ridicules is exactly what is pushing a lot of people over the edge. Again, all forms of racism is bad and should be condemned in the strongest terms.
You would think that, but not in the big cities and rural America or the flyover States, the Democrats always mock and make fun of the heartland and again further reason as to why you are seeing more and more blacklash.
Damn those rich White liberals.
SuperLib
He is getting massacred in the center and left wing press. People like him make the job of decent Democrats much harder.
SuperLib
Yep. Whites are only 70% of the US. How can we really thrive when the minorities are holding us back?
bass4funk
Yes and liberal Whites make up 85% of Hollywood and the media, so now the focus on repent and hang your head in shame is being distributed onto the masses.
Not the minorities, the liberal Whites that push all Whites to be ashamed of being White. Hey, ask Joe Biden, he even mentioned that the other day. Again, racism is bad and vile and it doesn’t matter what color you are, every and all races are capable of this and it should be called out regardless of skin color.
CrazyJoe
The dropping of the Smollett case is such an obvious travesty of justice that even Trump looks good in pointing this out. And that is saying a lot.
plasticmonkey
Nonsense. What you mean to say is that by recognizing discrimination against minorities we are discriminating against white people. That's your take.
Give me a concrete example of "PC culture that has been crushing White people". Go for it.
TorafusuTorasan
@plasticmonkey--asking for a legit example to justify his paranoia? That is like asking a superhero to pass you the kryptonite.
bass4funk
No, clarification for you, I mean, holding liberals to a higher standard and pointing out their hypocrisy in that Whites are the evil ones, especially White conservatives and every minority group is righteous, free of criticisms and if radicals like Sharpton, Linda Sansour, Farrakhan, La Raza and all the other radical groups commit hate speech, that’s ok and overlooked, that’s my point.
By a Hispanic who is NOT White gets it.
https://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2018/08/racism_against_whites.html
Chip Star
Nobody does this. We point out that conservatives are motivated by ignorance-driven fear.
This statwkenr has no basis in reality.
What's your definition of hate speech? Oh, getting an answer to this should be fun!
TorafusuTorasan
@bass--since plenty of immigrant groups like Arabs and Iranians are regarded as "White" folks by the U.S. government, then U.S. sanctions against Iran would be "PC culture crushing White people" conceivably?
Without looking at your link, the guy who wrote the article could be a white person who is culturally and linguistically Spanish (ergo Hispanic), writing about perceived racism against the group he belongs to.
bass4funk
I think you know what I mean, I am talking about Western Inn and eastern European white Anglo Saxon, Nordic and Slavic racial groups.
Could be, but this individual isn’t.
jcapan
What's left, the Florida Keys?
Some democrats admittedly sneer. It is a terrible practice on the part of smug hipsters in Brooklyn and far too many Hillary Clinton supporters. But millions of democrats do not think this way, some 13 million voters who supported Sanders and no doubt millions of other progressives who don't vote.
Obviously, none of this will impact you as you'll continue making sweeping generalizations about liberals. Not to mention conflating legitimate mockery of moronic elected officials and republicans wielding power with union workers in Wisconsin or Michigan. Bush the 2nd might have liked to clear brush on his ranch but he wasn't a working man. Trump might like to pretend he's a man of the people but he was born wearing a silver diaper.
You mean Trump? No, damn all rich politicians and the kabuki whereby they pretend to have working people's interests at heart. Trump or Dianne Feinstein.
itsonlyrocknroll
Irrespective of the colour of Jussie Smollett skin, or his sexual preference. Has justice been persued to a conclusion in view of the evidence drawn from the police investigation?
Surely a matter that suggests, if not demands to be subject to jurisprudence.
Strangerland
Who knows. It's impossible for the general public to know anything about this case whatsoever, regardless of what they may try to claim. For every opinion one way, you can probably put together enough evidence to show the opposite.
arrestpaul
Cook County State's Attorney Kim Foxx didn't actually recuse herself from the Smollett case. If she had actually recused herself, she is required by Illinois state law to appoint a special prosecutor to take over the duties of the State's Attorney's office. Foxx only said that she was recusing herself without actually doing so. I assume she hoped that the media outlets wouldn't notice her lie.
bass4funk
I have a feeling, he’s going to end up in prison in the end.
