Russia trying to set new records for war crimes but it won't work. All Ukraine needs is substations and access to Europe's grid, which it has.

Range of systems were employed. Air launched 101s by strategic aviation, kinzhal and sea launched kalibr on top of the usual wave of drones.

More to come. The decommissioning of Soviet-era power plants and the size of them means they have to take out individual generators, transformers and turbines, so there will be follow ups as the assessments of the target packages comes in.

The natural gas storage facility mentioned in the article is 10 clicks NW of Stryi, Lviv region - the biggest in Europe - another work in progress.

Kremenchuk Hydroelectric PP on the Dnieper was one too. A variety of facilities hit in seven regions on this one night alone.

As mentioned, this is the logical follow through to the campaign that started on 22/3.

Oh wow, I am sure that will get the Ukrainians to surrender.

JJE - I am glad to see you at least not complaining when the Ukrainians hit Russian energy infrastructure. We can be on different sides of this civilizational war and still not be hypocritical about what this war means.

As mentioned, this is the logical follow through to the campaign that started on 22/3.

And the logical follow through to that is for Ukraine to continue to cripple Russia's oil refinement plants.

He frustrated, because they will let Ukraine be carved up like a Thanksgiving day turkey, after 100 of billion, that will not protect Ukraine,it time to.cut your losses

The west will never allow Ukraine to surrender.

The west will never allow Ukraine to surrender.

How would the west stop Ukraine surrendering if they actually wanted to?

The same way they got Zelensky to back out of the Minsk 2 agreement.

The same way they got Zelensky to back out of the Minsk 2 agreement.

And how do you imagine they did that?

I’m looking for an actual answer here. How did they / will they coerce or persuade Zelensky to not surrender. Be specific.

War is hell. Surprised Russia has taken so long to specifically target civilian infrastructure

-1 ( +6 / -7 )

Theft of foreign assets is basically an act of war.

Easy to find. Boris Johnson for a tip. And it's wasn't surrender, it was a peace agreement.

There was no peace agreement. This isn't true.

As Charap and Radchenko show, the reality is a bit more complicated. Johnson didn’t directly sabotage a ceasefire deal in spring 2022; indeed, there was no deal ready to be signed between Russia and Ukraine. The two sides hadn’t agreed on territorial issues, or on levels of military armaments permitted after the war. Ukraine’s position during the negotiations necessitated security guarantees that western states were hesitant to provide. And there were domestic political questions inside Ukraine related to Russian demands about “denazification” to contend with.

55 missiles, 20 attack drones and 3 people injured. Seems like Russians are careful about minimizing civilian casualties comparing to Israel.

Oh yes, thank goodness they're careful when they invade other countries. These Russian invaders are woke, socially conscious folks I tell you what. I heard they only use ethically sourced materials for their weapons, and serve their troops only organic foods in their MREs. Can anyone confirm?

5 ( +10 / -5 )

CF. Yes can confirm everything you wrote to be true.

By getting the Donbas and Russia to fail in their obligations? That's impressive.

The Russian lie makes an appearance again. All one has to do is a look at a map of the holdings of the time to see the ridiculousness of such a "peace agreement".

Easy eh. So I’ll ask for the 3rd time.

How was Zelensky compelled or persuaded to not surrender?

Vatniks like to pretend that Ukraine wants to surrender but is not allowed to.

I want to know how they are being prevented from surrendering.

In 2 years none of our Vatniks have been able to answer this.

The list of targets is illegal so there is no credit for minimizing casualties.

Pretend NATO/USA has never bombed a power plant and try to hold a straight face.

Actually, they are pretty good at both.

When Ukraine hits Russian energy infrastructure you say it is justified ( legal targets ) because that infrastructure is dual use and power plants support arms manufacturing factories, repair warehouses etc. When Russia does the same you claim the opposite. You guys need to get your talking points straight.

Ukraine is under heinous assault attempting to eliminate them. At this point I think they should do whatever stops the assault and worry about the rules of war later.

Pretend NATO/USA didn't use graphite bombs that don't cause permanent damage when they did so and try to hold a straight face.

Im ok with hitting power plants.

Everyday Russia is liberating more land and towns from the kyiv regime..

Matter of time for peace negotiations..

Matter of time..

-6 ( +3 / -9 )

I hope one isn't asserting that only graphite bombs have been exclusively utilized by US/NATO forces in their long and rich history of bombing attacks on power plants/grids, or that there hasn't been widespread destruction of such facilities - because that would be patently false.

But sure, certain quarters are free to hold a straight face, assert that and maintain the fiction.

I hope quarters will provide evidence of power plants being destroyed by the US or NATO.

Only peace negotiation that will happen will be an unconditional ceasefire and Putin isn't there yet.

2 ( +6 / -4 )

Talking points? lmao There's a difference between striking power plants that supply factories with electricity to produce the bombs used to invade Ukraine, and bombing powerplants used to supply power to innocent Ukrainians being terrorized by the fascist Russian government. These two things are not the same.

2 ( +5 / -3 )

Right off the bat, the Americans dropped more bombs by tonnage on Vietnam and the surrounds than they did in WWII.

The strategic bombing of North Vietnam must have missed every thermal and hydroelectric powerplant for that amazing, humanitarian version of events to be true.

And that is just one conflict. But keep that straight face.

-5 ( +3 / -8 )

I just don’t want to hear anybody crying about anything later on.

Ah well if America does a bad thing, everyone gets to do bad things. GP ;)

These Russians would have been the biggest boosters of Bush's invasion of Iraq in 2003, if only they were American.

3 ( +6 / -3 )

I suppose there have been a few times in history where a population has been bombed into submission, but mostly it just pisses them off.

I have a pretty righteous anger at Russia for what they are doing to Ukraine. I could only imagine if it was happening to my country.

3 ( +6 / -3 )

The level of emotional investment people have in Ukraine is amazing.

Yes, an independent nation was invaded in an attempt by Russia to start WWIII with NATO, disrupting the global economy.

Notice how the only one's claiming that's strange seem to be pushing the exact same agenda as the Kremlin?

3 ( +6 / -3 )

Plus, the USSR was our nemesis for so so long. We were willing to give Russia a fresh start after the USSR fell apart, and maybe things could have been different, but it's obvious you guys didn't learn from your Cold War I loss.
