And that is why the war will go on longer.

As long as it takes to repel the invaders.

For the pro-Putin squad on JT, imagine that the hated US were invading your country to take your land, resources, and people. Would you just surrender to the US? Or would you fight against the Yankee invaders?

I wonder how often Putin thinks 'I should have stuck with topless horse pics...'.

10 ( +18 / -8 )

Says no serious military analyst. More Kiev propaganda.

Heh, says no RUSSIAN military analyst. Putin would have them executed for saying it out loud.

9 ( +22 / -13 )

Mark - I don't make predictions very often, but I don't see Russia taking Odessa anytime soon.

9 ( +15 / -6 )

And that is why the war will go on longer.

The longer the better - the Russians thought it would be done in 48 hours. The longer the Ukrainians can drag them down, the more it punishes every Russian who does not stand up against their government.

Not that they could, without being executed...

It time for America to cut it losses

The Russian propaganda team is praying the world will stop supporting Ukraine.

7 ( +9 / -2 )

Lets remember, other than art, the Soviets have never made anything of quality, ever.

They break things, they don't build them up.

It is quite sad to read.

Winston Churchill said “We’ll fight them on the beaches”

This is more like “We’ll spam from the basements”.

Russia must not be allowed to win the war in Ukraine. Western democracies must show that the idea of a country successfully invading it’s neighbors- especially NATO neighbors- will not work given modern technology. This is also our best hope for deterring China re Taiwan.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, who has rallied citizens with daily filmed messages, said he had visited forces in the southern Mykolaiv region, about 550 km south of Kyiv.

Unlike Putin with no courage hiding away in his bunker, Zelenskiy is visiting Mykolaiv (after he had visited Kharkiv).

@Antiquesaving

As big a lie as the 2021 Ukrainian law/declaration that excluded Ethnic Russians as being indigenous?

The Ukrainians aren't included either. That's because the measure is aimed at protecting the small ethnic groups that are connected with states outside of the Ukrainian state.

For example, Poles, Bulgarians, etc. are also not covered. The rights of Russians in Ukraine are protected under a 1992 Ukrainian law that covers national minorities.

6 ( +8 / -2 )

Ok, thanks for your prediction, AS. So it sounds like you think that Russia will move to formally take chunks out of Georgia and Moldova as well. Any others come to mind?

5 ( +11 / -6 )

It time for America to cut it losses

the world cannot afford to let Putin win. The US & UK know this.

Evil must be defeated, & eventually will be.

5 ( +8 / -3 )

AS - the Ukrainians consider Donbas to be Ukraine. As long as they do, they will fight for it.

Remind me again - do you think that Russia will stop with Ukraine? Or do you think they have other adventures in mind?

4 ( +16 / -12 )

AS - I think we already got your answer on that particular question awhile back. You mentioned that you would not fight to save your country from an invading force. That question was more directed to some of the other pro-invasion folks. Fortunately for Canada, I do believe that many more would fight such an invasion.

4 ( +11 / -7 )

I am more interested in what you think Russia might do. I know you don't have a crystal ball, but I am always interested in hearing what others think, even if I disagree.

4 ( +9 / -5 )

Seriously, how and why do you think Ukraine is winning?

seriously, why do you want Russia to win ?

Everyone was living their lives peacefully until Russia invaded Ukraine. Now children & families are homeless & scared.

Seriously, Why do you want Ukraine & their citizens lives to be destroyed ?

4 ( +9 / -5 )

Ever lived in a place they are dominant?

Good luck.

Thank you for your admission that you have something against Ukrainians. Sad.

3 ( +10 / -7 )

There is no win or lose in this war. Ukraine lost the moment Russians started murdering them in their own country, and Russia loses because Putin has forced the planet to quarantine Russia for a generation or three.

It's lose-lose-lose all the way around. All started by the biggest loser of this whole thing, Putin. The guy had a great legacy with all those shirtless horse pictures. Now he just looks inept.

3 ( +10 / -7 )

AS - Other than Transnistria and Abkhazia, do you think Russia will try to claim territory of other countries for itself? And if they do, do you agree with it?

2 ( +10 / -8 )

the reality is whether you support Putin or Ukraine, one thing is for certain- this is going to be a long war.

2 ( +6 / -4 )

Russia's already lost.

2 ( +13 / -11 )

What is anyone surprised at that?

No one is surprised by the notion that Putin won't just stop at Ukraine if given the chance. What is shocking, however, is despite this fact, people are openly advocating for not helping Ukraine. This is clearly enabling behavior.

2 ( +10 / -8 )

So 20 on here think Ukraine is winning..... :)

Another explanation is that 20 people here just think that shilling for Putin is distasteful.

1 ( +7 / -6 )

You can't survive without allies in this world. That's where the US excels when Trump is not in power. Let's see Russia build the kind of coalition Biden has.

The only thing Russia is good for now is serving the Chinese.

1 ( +6 / -5 )

But I suspect, other regions that have been in conflict that are heavily ethnic Russians

Its a lie designed by putin to have a reason to invade

people in big eastern cities almost all speak russian but if you go countryside people there still speak nice clear Ukrainian. So are they russian and should be invaded?

1 ( +3 / -2 )

I don't believe it will be a long war because support for Ukraine will likely peter out over the next two to three months as more pressing economic concerns come to dominate headlines. Ukraine's hardline stance against negotiating land for peace, noble as it is, is not sustainable. Russian, on the other hand, despite having morale problems, is in a far better situation to continue the war while exports of oil continue flowing. Sooner or later Ukraine will have to concede. It should pick its moment and do so while it has a position of relative strength.

0 ( +6 / -6 )

Mr. K - If Ukrainians living in Ukraine considered themselves Russian, then they should go move to Russia.

0 ( +8 / -8 )

AS - I see. I guess change takes getting used to for some.

0 ( +3 / -3 )

Kyiv is how the Ukrainians, you know, the people who live there, whose country it is, spell it. The invaders murdering them in their homes, trying to take over the city spell it kiev.

There once was a peaceful country. This country had had a bad king who had been thrust upon them by a powerful but evil king next to it. However, these people wanted something different and better, so they all joined together and revolted against this bad king who had been chosen for them and made him flee his opulent palace and seek refuge in the evil kingdom to the north. Now the evil king to the north was quite angry by this turn of events, however, all he could do was simmer in his rage. You see the evil king was worried about the reactions of the other peaceful countries in the nearby regions of this land and outside of it. If he was to attack this peaceful country, then the other peaceful countries may become alarmed and angered and stop buying his black gold . . . oil.

A few years passed, and this peaceful country, in the meantime, decided it had had enough with kings and emperors, so they decided to elect and choose their own leader. They chose a good man as a temporary king who had once been the court jester and specialized in making fun of government and politics, for, as the people did, he saw much humor in all of it. This popular jester won the election fair and square, and he turned out to be a good man who only wanted peace and happiness for his people. The evil king to the north watched all of these developments with a sense of jealousy, rage and concern, for he was an evil king who had ruled his people for many years, and whenever anybody did criticize him or threaten to challenge him for his throne and crown . . . well, they were mysteriously killed or died under very suspicious circumstances. Anyway, the evil king could not stand it another moment and watch this peaceful and happy country thriving on his doorstep, so he attacked this peaceful and happy country with a large and mighty army.

The world was shocked! Up until now, the evil king, even though difficult at times, had seemed reasonable enough, but now he had gone too far. Unfortunately, the evil king to the north didn't care what anybody else thought about his actions and besides they all needed his precious black gold. The evil king just wanted to destroy this peaceful and happy country because it was everything his country was not. Well, the peaceful and happy country was obviously quite angry to be invaded by this foreign army controlled by its evil king, and, though it was much smaller, it put up a tremendous and heroic resistance as this evil king and his army attempted to terrorize, rape and murder their way across it. The other peaceful countries decided to help this smaller and weaker country, for it was a country more similar to their own than this wicked kingdom to the north which was ruled by, what they regarded now, as an insane and cruel, evil king.

This war between good and evil continues to this day, but hopefully it will one day end on the side of good.

If the Russian forces continue to loose so many men and equipment for small gains, I fully support their claim of victory, best to fight a delusional foe then a rational one.

-1 ( +5 / -6 )

The claims about Russian troops suffering from poor morale, bad logistics, rebellions and desertions have been continuous since day 2 of this, and the 'evidence' cited is as believable as the claims that Obama wanted to seize American's guns and force everyone to convert to Islam.

But they've been accompanied by the claims that the professional military units the Kiev regime inherited from the formerly democratic Ukraine were fanatically loyal to the Kiev regime, almost eager to die rather than surrender or retreat, and for everyone of them that fell, there were 10 volunteers training to take their place.

Well, until recently. Now we see an admission that the units the Kiev regime is fielding have members that don't want to fight to keep the regime in power, aren't trained or equipped, and rather than using the civilian population as cover for firing points, are using the civilian population as cover escaping from those loyal to the Kiev regime.

I foresee a repeat of the sudden collapse of the US backed Afghanistan government happening to the Kiev regime.

-1 ( +8 / -9 )

Russia might be earning monies but it takes time to build equipment, train men. You know replace losses. Ukrainian are getting better and better equipment, had 10 years of western training. The longer Russias supply lines the more places to attack it. Land will always be there you can trade land for time and a better military position.

-1 ( +5 / -6 )

RichardPearce - are you just trying to see how many times you can misspell "Kyiv" in a single post?

-1 ( +6 / -7 )

If you live in the Ukrainian you really should learn the language or move to Russia. Not become the excuse for so much killing and destruction.

-2 ( +5 / -7 )

Almost all living in Crimea? These people have been attacked by Ukrainian "nationalists" and welcome the Russian intervention.

People there now live in a terrible way thanks to russia’s help and now they must be overjoyed with happiness from all that noise, bombing, planes, ships moving all around place not letting them live peacefully, also in fear Ukrainian forces might strike back? Im sure they dont appreciate this. Also its a fact Crimea is now a devasted place to have a proper living there as ALL lands and places ‘freed by russia’ previously.

Can the west get anymore hypocritical?!

Oh yes, there's a long, long way to go before the likes of USUK hit rock bottom.

Look them up!

What is anyone surprised at that?

Come on if not Putin it was going to be someone else.

These regions are never going to return to the places they left.

You yourself support Kosovo's right to independence then hypocritically say these ethnic Russian regions don't have the same rights.

Typically of the western politics, do as we say not as we do, more bomb to SA for Y but poor Ukraine getting bombed by bad Russia.

-4 ( +10 / -14 )

For the pro-Putin squad on JT, imagine that the hated US were invading your country to take your land, resources, and people. Would you just surrender to the US? Or would you fight against the Yankee invaders?

Almost all living in Crimea? These people have been attacked by Ukrainian "nationalists" and welcome the Russian intervention.

NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said supplying state-of-the-art weaponry to Ukrainian

And that is why the war will go on longer.

-6 ( +10 / -16 )

I've never seen anyone here mention it ever. Apart from you, who mentions it everyday in your usual bleatings about 'The Media'.

I didn't think you were new here, I guess you are because it was along with 30,000 killed 15,000 tanks destroyed, etc...

But I guess you joined last week.

> The only thing Russia is good for now is serving the Chinese.

Let me point out again, Cuba, Iran even Venezuela all under sanctions all still around sanctions didn't work.

Russia is self-sufficient in energy, food, arms, metals, coal, etc .. so what are these sanctions going to do?

What countries are not on board with the Sanctions?

Oh China and India part of BRIC.

Look at the fuel riots now starting in poor countries, with India providing the relief and where will the fuel come from? Russia. Ukraine needs to sooner or later pay for the billion in aid and weapons, Russia is making their own everything!

It even has it's own independent GPS system.

But hey according to Ukraine they are winning and will win. Joint anyone?

And that is why the war will go on longer.

> As long as it takes to repel the invaders.

Let me point out some reality, with every country providing the Afghanistan resistance weapons and money, it still took 10 years for the Soviets to leave,

On the opposite side the USA coalition got also kicked out of Afghanistan by a group that was not supplied by every developed country possible.

Now the Russians are on territory rightfully or wrongly they consider Russian, and NATO and it's Allies that couldn't win a war against a rag tag army in Afghanistan that had little support from any major powers thinks it will bear Russia on it's doorstep.

I guess the delusion like ghost of Kyiv, Azovstal mission complete and 30,000 Russians killed, has infected the upper echelon of NATO.

-7 ( +12 / -19 )

Its a lie designed by putin to have a reason to invade

> people in big eastern cities almost all speak russian but if you go countryside people there still speak nice clear Ukrainian. So are they russian and should be invaded?

As big a lie as the 2021 Ukrainian law/declaration that excluded Ethnic Russians as being indigenous?

Yes I know Ukraine would love to rewrite their history to exclude Kievan Rus federation, Polish Lithuania, etc.. and pretend the Russians in the region are some transplant from the Soviet Union, but sadly for Ukraine the world still hasn't burned all the history books and whitewashed the past.

Eastern parts have been ethnic Russian since at least the Kievan Rus federation in the 9th century.

-7 ( +3 / -10 )

According to experts in the region , Russia's new target is the city of Odesa and beyond if possible. This offense will continue until Russia reaches and links up with the eastern parts of Moldova where Russian troops and their supporters are already stationed and on stand by.

-9 ( +5 / -14 )

Remind me again - do you think that Russia will stop with Ukraine? Or do you think they have other adventures in mind?

If I knew what Putin was going to do I would be rich selling the information.

But "semi" logic ( again no one in this conflict is being logical) Putin doesn't want to hold territory that contains large numbers of hostile people, so in Ukraine Donbas probably.

But I suspect, other regions that have been in conflict that are heavily ethnic Russians may finally end the silly limbo state and I wouldn't be surprised if Putin annex them all officially, ( Abkhazia, Transnistria, etc...)

Lets see how would the USA put it oh right " securing USA interests and protecting American citizens" (replace USA with Russia and American with Russian) isn't that the "reasons" used over the decades by the USA? Not nice when the shoe is on3the other foot!

-9 ( +9 / -18 )

Well, considering Russia won't even call it a war, and that they intended to take Kyiv in 48 hours...

Says no serious military analyst. More Kiev propaganda.

Seriously, how and why do you think Ukraine is winning? Is it because you say a photo of a destroyed tank?

-10 ( +15 / -25 )

We keep getting this

Ukraine's military said Russia had "partial success" in the area,

As if what Ukraine claims is fact (let's not forget Ghost of Kyiv).

Now if Russia makes a claim we know better than to believe it, Ukraine makes a claim we that is fact written in stone ( remember Azovstal didn't surender they completed their mission).

So NATO thinks it will just keep supplying Ukraine in a long drawn out war.

Ok but folks don't complain when we return to the 60s, 70s 80s still cold/hot proxy wars.

I bet very few here actually remember each side supplying opposing faction in multiple countries in full on active wars and terrorist bombing.

The Basque regions have been quiet, Catalonia for now is peaceful, Northern Ireland quiet despite the UK EU problems. Those are just some places Kurds, Serbs, Croats, any of that rings any bells?

NATO and the rest of us better remember that 2 can play the same game and all it would take is one party deciding to start financing the more radical groups in those regions.

Keep this in mind when the sh...hits the fan and we ask how we got to that point!

-10 ( +11 / -21 )

Would you just surrender to the US? Or would you fight against the Yankee invaders

USA doesn't invade much, it likes the coward method of Proxy wars,

Right now it has one going cost 10,000 children killed or wounded, killed 150,000 people and is rarely reported on and is the reason Ukraine is second in line for weapons.

I wonder if NATO has the guts to put out a statement on that particular war we cannot mention?

Lets go NATO what about it can we get a statement on the USA EU proxy war also active as we speak?

-10 ( +9 / -19 )
