Is this the result of Biden being weak on Russia? Perhaps it’s a result of Biden being a warmonger. Would any of our conservative contributors care to help me understand this?

The 2nd one.

I can't believe the Russian Generals and KGB officers put up with this guy. Everyone knows appeasement will only lead to further acts of aggression. At this rate, the running dogs will nuke St Petersburg and Putin will call in their ambassador to lodge of "strong diplomatic protest".

It's time to take Putin down a notch.

Russia caught being bad. US slaps on the wrist.

Russia denies it and slaps back.

Whatever happened to that Biden/Puten meeting in Ukraine? Guess that won't be happening?

Considering the enormity and intensity of the SolarWinds hacks, the sanctions imposed are, indeed, very mild. Now that Moscow has had their tat after announcement of the sanctions, perhaps if they value peace and cooperation as much as they repeatedly say in their foreign ministry press releases, they will accept invitations to meet and will work in areas of potential mutual interest.

No, this one is the result of the Russians, but as a stopped clock is right twice a day, so is Trump's (infamous, because "shockingly" truthful) frank and disarming comment letting the killer cat out of the bag when asked what he thought about "killer", Putin: "There are a lot of killers. You think our country's so innocent?" And this from a moron who's never read or even heard of Machiavelli.

"There are a lot of killers. You think our country's so innocent?"

As bad as american foreign policy is, the american president and government do not order the killing of innocent journalists and political opponents. That is and will always be a huge difference between the two regimes.

The 2nd one.

Sanctions instead of military strikes = warmonger. Makes complete sense.

You think USA can carry out military strikes on Russia without getting a far more destructive strikes carried out against it?

No, I don’t think the US could strike Russia militarily without Russia counterstriking. What about my post gave you that idea?

Yet Biden didn’t bring it up in these sanctions, did he? Cause it was fake story.

Only if you believe US intelligence, which you only do when it paints the “other team” in a bad light. Carry on, you’re on a roll.

It’s the result of Biden lying about the Russian bounties

You mean Biden himself created those stories?

Putin and Russia ramping up the pressure to see if Repubs and Trump supporters will take his side against their own government and administration...

Expect to see the far-right in the US praise Putin and insult Biden....showing what we already know from Jan 6th - they despise democracy and worship autocracy....

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

now Biden said nothing. So what is he?

A guy who believed an intelligence report when it came out, but changed his point of view when the veracity of said report was put in doubt by his generals? I know you're trying hard to pin something on Biden, but "actually reading and trusting intelligence reports" isn't really a bad thing, most of the time.

A proverb says, "Two dogs fight for a bone, and the third runs away with it." A harder US-Russia conflict can only benefit the third party, namely China.

With its GDP size as the same as South Korea, Russia can't be eminent threat or an archenemy for the US. Advice: Better focus on China.

The opposite way is true for Russia; China is the closest and most eminent threat. Advice: Cyber-attack China :)

Putin and Xi have been much more cozy lately...and it's easy to see why....

They have agreed to cooperate to see of they can leverage Putin's five year disinformation campaign to coopt the far-right and Republicans in America to turn against their own government...

It's not a coincidence that at the same time we see Russia causing provocations in Ukraine, China does the same near Taiwan.

Put pressure on the US and the Biden administration, and see if the Republicans will side with the enemy....

My sense is they have calculated correctly...

Ungrounded accusations, ineffective sanctions - all seemingly weak attempts of a superpower in decline to "stay in control". There is certainly much more going on behind the curtains that we don't see, but the bottom line is clear: the US ain't got it no more.

Who cares??, they don't need to enter there, nobody..

Why would anyone want to go to Russia? I mean, we can buy Vodka anywhere these days.

Why would anyone want to go to Russia? I mean, we can buy Vodka anywhere these days.

Why would anyone want to be in the USA? We can buy burgers anywhere, etc etc...

Seriously, though, this is par for the course. Tit for tat expulsions, sabre rattling and harsh rhetoric.

Dialogue is to be urged, nobody wants conflict.

"Dialogue is to be urged, nobody wants conflict."

Right. China. Russia. Iran. Conflict is what they want. Don't you read?

Would any of our conservative contributors care to help me understand this?

And Joe is going to do what now?

"There are a lot of killers. You think our country's so innocent?"

I can kill my countrymen and Trump approves. I can do whatever I want with this puppy as American president. Do not laugh, comrades, we don't want to show our hand and have Biden president, he may resist my killing nature, unlike the useable Donald. Make sure to further hack their computers and give him the election, comrades!

Maybe they can start WWIII. And turn the planet into a lump of charcoal.

Gads of baloney about election interference by Russia. Meaningless twaddle. Russia had absolutely o effect on US elections. It is simply a Cold War mentality, reflecting the atavistic leanings of a president, Joe Biden, who should be in a rest home. Instead emplaced atop the American Empire by those members of the status quo, who actually call the tune. Most live on either coast and not in Russia.

And. Ah, the Ukraine. Hunter Biden's stomping ground. Victoria Nuland, U.S. assistant secretary of state for the EU interfering in the internal affairs of the Ukraine, on the behalf of the Obama administration, to install an extreme right-wing regime. Then vice-president Biden running point on that & those schemes.

The empire strikes back.
