Fight like your life depends on it Ukraine, because it probably does.

Official message of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation just some time ago.

In the South-Donetsk direction, where the Ukrainians launched an offensive, the enemy was stopped by the efforts of the actions of the Vostok group, and did not achieve the assigned tasks. The attacking formations and military units of the AFU got significant damage. The total losses amounted to more than 1,500 Ukrainian soldiers, 28 tanks, including 8 german leopards, three french wheeled tanks and 109 armored fighting vehicles.

Voila! You can report to your taxpayers. You may believe or not believe. At least have a laugh:)

Taiwan,if people fought like you, they would been dead along time ago,you never fought anyone in your whole life

I don't have to. I just have to tell people the truth that surrender to a Nazi regime is a death sentence for your country, culture, language, and most likely you.

Ukrainian forces were making a major effort to end a battlefield stalemate and punch through Russian defensive lines in

What a shame that Ukrainian forces and Ukrainian civilian lives along with Russian military and civilian populations continue to be at risk because Putin and the Kremlin, Prizoghin and other Slavic gangsters want to re-establish Soviet Union part 2. The Russian Federation controls roughly 11% of the globe's land mass, and yet it still wants more.China is the third largest geographically and it still ants more. Predatory state capitalism if left unchecked will continue to devour larger portions of the globe and tae more resources so the ruling castes in Russia and China can live even more lavishly.

Right, because the Russian government never lies, and has no reason to do so. Lol

I find it strange that the media have now reported a significant loss suffered by Ukraine. Up to now losses were not reported of spun differently. As for the 'stalemate', this has been a war of attrition in which Ukraine has incurred massive loses at the hands of Russian artillery, drones and missiles - this has not been reported of course.

We will know at the end just how successful this counter offensive is, if indeed this is it.

Until then, the spewings of the Russian disinformation cliché is just the modern iteration of Bagdad Bob and his confident "all is well" comedy tour.

Counterfeit Offensive

-9 ( +3 / -12 )

Odd. I haven’t seen anyone asking when the counter offensive is going to start… At least for a couple of days. I wonder what direction their angle is going to go now. They’re probably off quietly working on it.

3 ( +7 / -4 )

Because it already started.

We are talking about Russia here, the worlds second-largest military power. Corrupt and poorly-led as Russia may be, when push comes to shove, they have a scary arsenal in reserve. Much as I may support Ukraine, I have no wish to see WW3 erupt in Europe.

-1 ( +4 / -5 )

Even the Russian people are skeptical of these reports of Russia's recent success. It has got so bad that Putin is sending religious relics to the battlefield and released religious museum pieces to the Russian orthodox church, so the church can ask for more donations in exchange the church will try to convince the Russian people it is a holy war. The Anti-Putin Russians attacking on Russian soil has made the paranoid Putin look extremely weak!

The Kremlin was quick to declare the attack repulsed, but several in Russia’s community of ultra-nationalist military bloggers were more sceptical. Relying on their own sources, they suggested Ukraine had made some initial gains.

Apologies Blacklabel. I meant to say “anyone who was continuously asking”

2 ( +5 / -3 )

Melitopol was the real target. The ruse in Donetsk means that the Ukrainians have the means of destroying russian logistics, supply depots, and command centers in all of the occupied Ukrainian mainland, and including the northern 1/3 of Crimea, from their front lines, there is no need to rush men and equipment into battles along those lines. Next is destruction of the Kerch Bridge. Panic should be setting in soon among Russians and Russian troops in Crimea. With the land supply route cut, the bridge is the only route of resupply and retreat, other than by ferry.

We are talking about Russia here, the worlds second-largest military power.

Russia lost that claim a long time ago.

when push comes to shove, they have a scary arsenal in reserve.

They have nukes in reserve and not much else. Yes, nukes are scary, but the world shouldn’t just let any country with nukes attack its neighbors with impunity because we are scared of their nukes.

So, is this the 7th, or 8th 'possible start' to Zelensky's Spring Offense.

And does anyone think it will be any more effective than the previous ones?

PS, is it out of fashion now to continue to call it the 'Spring' one, because it used to be almost mandatory.

That is not what the military experts say.

somebody say to that globetrotter in Kiev that battles winners are decided in battel and not on pages of friendly proUA media...

question-how many UA people still have to die that west will come to its basic senses and will realize that there is nothing like defeat of Russia and military solution?

How many Russians have to die before land is returned, and Putin is removed from office by natural or unnatural means?

https://www.nytimes.com/2023/06/05/world/europe/nazi-symbols-ukraine.html

US media seems to be turning on Ukraine.

oh wait, they just don’t know what those symbols mean. Yeah, that’s it!

What worries me, in the Ukrainian context, is that people in Ukraine who are in leadership positions, either they don’t or they’re not willing to acknowledge and understand how these symbols are viewed outside of Ukraine,”

-11 ( +5 / -16 )

And does anyone think it will be any more effective than the previous ones?

I’m curious to see what line of argument these Russian apologists intend to adopt when it is.

Was the whole invasion of Ukraine a feint?

Russia was looking to downsize and who really needs Belogorod anyway?

We were looking to reform our military into one run mainly by a caterer with an army of enslaved convicts and a Chechen warlord who are constantly at each other’s throats, mainly in order to pitch the concept as a reality TV show?

2 ( +7 / -5 )

https://www.nytimes.com/2023/06/05/world/europe/nazi-symbols-ukraine.html

This isn't new. Nor does it justify the invasion. This is, however, essentially the same rhetoric the Kremlin uses to do so.

So you can no longer argue in support of Russia's military success in Ukraine, so the next attempt to change the topic.

You can have racists people in your country and still have the right to defend your country in an unprovoked war from evil invaders.

The article is not discussing Nazi's. Is that correct?

after checking other sources than JT it seems that that offensive is kind of ...shame but dressing nice clothes.

I suggest to all proUA fans here go to first line and fight against moskals, dont waste your time here, just go and defeat shovel equipped russians!

Or we can just listen to more reliable sources:

You cannot make this up!

Seems like a pretty well supported factual claim in the article. with photos and other evidence and analysis.

does something have to be new to be accurate?

my point is, when The NY Times is actually publishing this, you are losing control of your media.

Not for the side that my country is funding and arming as claiming as the righteous one.

No, not ok at all. You know better.

Russia can do whatever they want, we aren’t funding or supporting them.

-4 ( +3 / -7 )

when will the spring offensive start?"

has it started?

-6 ( +3 / -9 )

It does show that Russia’s anti-Nazi narrative was purely trash. There is A LOT of propaganda on both sides. Propaganda is a weapon of war. If you’re only trying to call out propaganda, call it all out, not just Ukrainian, because if you don’t you absolutely are supporting Russia.

Wagner Parades Captured Russian Colonel as Feud With Kremlin Boils Over

https://www.yahoo.com/news/wagner-parades-captured-russian-colonel-102837183.html

After identifying himself, Lieutenant Colonel Roman Venevitin, reportedly the commander of Russia’s 72nd Motorized Rifle Brigade says in the video that he “opened fire” on the vehicle while “intoxicated from alcohol.” When asked why he’d done so, he answers: “Due to my personal animosity.” Pressed by his interrogator as to why he has animosity toward Wagner, Venevitin appears dejected and says: “I don’t know.”

> Venevitin also goes on to confess that he and a group of 10 to 12 of his Russian army subordinates had “disarmed” a Wagner rapid response group, again citing his “personal animosity” as the motivation. “What do you think, does personal animosity have any place at all in war?” the interrogator asks. “No,” Venevitin says. “How can your actions be characterized?” the interrogator replies. Venevitin sighs and answers: “Guilty.”

Can we discuss the implosion within the dysfunctional Russian ranks?

Now that they've established a presence in the region, they should hold a "referendum" over whether it should join Ukraine or remain part of Russia....... (That's how it works, right?)

Honestly, get realistic please.

Ah the allusive counteroffensive.

Well I guess the MSM has to spread something to keep failures unspoken.

invalid CSRF

-4 ( +2 / -6 )

Ah the allusive counteroffensive.

Its interesting to watch the various coping mechanisms deployed by the Putin fans after 16 months of humiliation.

This one is the equivalent of a little guy mocking the punching skills of a very strong guy based solely on the fact that he hasn't been punched by that guy yet.

Needless to say, once the the punch lands they'll have to come up with a new one (a pattern they've gotten used to).

after 16 months of humiliation.

Did I miss this? seems Russia still owns a large portion of Ukraine.

a very strong guy based solely on the fact that he hasn't been punched by that guy yet.

So it takes 16 months of losing your own land to punch someone once?

So your claim is Ukraine has not punched Russia (yet)?

-2 ( +3 / -5 )

Did I miss this? seems Russia still owns a large portion of Ukraine.

Everyone saw the attempt to take Kiev and the withdrawal in failure. Everyone saw Kharkiv and Kherson be liberated by Ukraine. In terms of military goals Russia is down to "land bridge" and who knows how long that will last.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

Did I miss this?

Apparently.

seems Russia still owns a large portion of Ukraine.

Yeah, Germany still occupied all of Norway on May 7, 1945 too. Didn't mean they were winning the war. If it helps you sleep at night though by all means cling to that fantasy.

So it takes 16 months of losing your own land to punch someone once?

Russian army has been beaten to a pulp over the last 16 months.

So your claim is Ukraine has not punched Russia (yet)?

No, that was a metaphor. The reality is that there is almost nothing left of the army that Putin sent over the border in February last year. What Putin has in there now is a bunch of mobiks and convicts with 1960s era equipment. The Russians have already been driven out of half the territory they seized last year, and are about to be driven from the rest. Just be patient.
