Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said only that attacks on Russia reinforce the need to prosecute the war.

Will Peskov one of Putin's media puppets be jailed for using the word 'war'.

It's disgusting that Putin's war continues to kill so many Ukrainian civilians and make life miserable for so many people, including Russian civilians. While Putin sits around his big table, safe and secure. How is Putin different from the tsars that ruled Russia? One way is he has his forces use drones, made by his partner Iran. How long until China and North Korea get more directly involved in supporting the Kremlin's warmongering.

Mr Zelensky stated recently that there would be no attacks on Russia.

Ukraine haven't claimed responsibility, so that's fine.

Is he a liar or is he mad.

Neither.

Maybe both leaders are, but their behaviour is intolerable to decent minded people who believe in peace and pacifism.

No only Putin.

12 ( +16 / -4 )

"It is, of course, a clear indication of terrorist activity.”

This seems this is the same as an admission by the Kremlin that what they are doing, but on a much greater scale, is also a terrorist activity.

An apple in one place is still an apple in another.

11 ( +15 / -4 )

The Russian Defense Ministry said five drones were shot down in Moscow and the systems of three others were jammed, causing them to veer off course. President Vladimir Putin called it a “terrorist” act by Kyiv.

This is going to cause big problems for Putin. He has to admit that he can't protect Moscow and it also calls into attention, why are they fighting a war that they can't win?

9 ( +13 / -4 )

Imagine the nerve of making the Russians taste their own bitterness?

This is small-time stuff so far. But it does burst the bubble of Russian invulnerability and Muscovite’s perception of remoteness from this war.

9 ( +12 / -3 )

These attacks (more like warnings, actually) were not by Ukraine's "gifted weapons". It's not even sure Ukraine was the one that conducted them.

Mr Zelensky has just done that, he promised no attacks on Russian soil with his gifted weapons

9 ( +13 / -4 )

When did he say that?

There will be no attacks on Russia if Russia simply withdraws from Ukraine. Simple solution, isn't it?

let me pass Kiev guys fantasy comments and lets talk about facts.

UA have no chance to win over Russia in any case.this is fact supported by reality on the ground.

I.e. fact is supported your opinion.

there is no military solution for this conflict..Russia have no plan to take over remaining parts of Ukraine.UA have no power to get previously owned pieces of land by military force.

And yet the took back the region around Kharkiv and also Kherson last year? How did they manage that if it is not possible?

7 ( +11 / -4 )

Of course he will say this (without providing any evidence, of course), but do you actually believe him?

It sounds kinda like the strike on the Patriot system that we were assured had destroyed it, but then remarkably it was back in service a couple of days later.

Putin mentioned in his comments that they struck Ukrainian military intelligence headquarters a few days ago.

On the 29th Kyrylo Budanov had an online temper tantrum and threatened retaliation on Moscow.

Next this amateurish attack on residential districts.

Put your seatbelts on for the reply.

7 ( +10 / -3 )

The only question is: will Russia shamelessly use this to escalate?

6 ( +10 / -4 )

Putin is on TV looking weak and shocked by the attacks on his capital. Residents said they had thought they were safe from the war.

6 ( +10 / -4 )

Mr Zelensky has just done that, he promised no attacks on Russian soil with his gifted weapons

Ukraine hasn’t claimed responsibility, so there is that…

But even if it was undertaken by Ukraine Zelenskyy is still true to his word as these appear to be locally produced Ukrainian drones that were used.

The probable purpose was to show Moscow, and Russia’s air defenses, are easily penetrated.

6 ( +10 / -4 )

A rare drone attack jolted Moscow early Tuesday, causing only light damage but forcing evacuations as residential buildings were struck in the Russian capital for the first time in the war against Ukraine.

No doubt launched from a Russian military airfield nearby....

The Russians are so ham-fisted and obvious with their false-flag attacks - even ordinary Russians just shake their heads in disbelief...

It just goes to show their desperation as their "3-day special military operation" goes into its 460 day....and Putin awaits the Ukraine counter-offensive he knows his incompetent and defeated military can't stop...

6 ( +10 / -4 )

Ukraine infers they didn’t help blow up pipeline, didn’t blow up bridge,

Pipelines and bridges are legit targets. Boo hoo.

To my reply guys, without whataboutism, it’s right what Ukraine is doing, attacking civilians in Moscow?

We don't know that they did. Why is it okay for Russia to attack Ukrainian civilians?

6 ( +9 / -3 )

No matter how many times you make these claims, it doesn't make them facts.

It's clear that Russia has no chance to "win" over Ukraine, or even take full control of the oblasts it has illegally annexed. Since recognizing these oblasts as Russian territory was stated as a precondition for any peace talks, it also means the claim that Russia has no plan to take additional territory is a lie.

let me pass Kiev guys fantasy comments and lets talk about facts.

UA have no chance to win over Russia in any case.this is fact supported by reality on the ground

6 ( +9 / -3 )

Using Blacklabel logic “the systems of three others were jammed, causing them to veer off course” would mean that any residential buildings hit must have been caused by Russia maliciously jamming the drones, right??

5 ( +9 / -4 )

Sure. When the invaders go home.

The civilians attacked today in Russia ARE “at home”.

And the Russians still in Ukraine? They home yet?

Nope.

5 ( +8 / -3 )

Putin called it an act of terrorism. What does he think he has been doing in Ukraine bombing schools, hospitals, and apartment blocks? Totally destroyed the city of Bakhmut.

5 ( +8 / -3 )

Putin states clearly that a few drones aimed at civilian areas is ‘clearly a terrorist act’.

Doesn’t give him much wiggle-room when he has to stand up in The Hague and explain his own actions. He condemns himself from his own mouth.

“It’s an intimidation act aimed at the civilian population,” RBC quoted him as saying. “It’s designed to create a wave of panic.”

Yeah well that strategy isn’t working very well in Ukraine. The continued mindless attacks have made Ukrainians all the more determined to send Vlad and his orcs packing.

Glory to Ukraine.

4 ( +10 / -6 )

" . . . Putin called it a terrorist act by Kiyv."

Yes, it's terrible to have a bomb in your city explode even if nobody is hurt.

Wait until thousands of women and children die as a result, then you'll be really angry, like the people in Ukraine.

4 ( +7 / -3 )

“The Kyiv regime ... attempts to intimidate Russian citizens and strikes at civilian buildings," he said at a public event, responding to a question from the head of a Kremlin-allied think tank. "It is, of course, a clear indication of terrorist activity.”

Putin's cognitive dissonance has clearly reached clinical-case levels. As others have pointed out, he's a self-confessed war criminal confirming his guilt with his own mouth (much like his orange acolyte), or on safer grounds, he may be able to plead insanity before the Hague (incipient megalomania).

4 ( +7 / -3 )

you really believe they did none of those things?

Ukraine evil. Russia good. We get it.

4 ( +9 / -5 )

My country is sending 10s or 100s of billions in support for a country that attacks innocent civilians in their homes? The same exact “evil”that Moscow is doing?

Have you decided it's evil now? How convenient.

Stop that now, or all arms and funds cease immediately should be the message.

Sure. When the invaders go home.

4 ( +8 / -4 )

Russia bombs Kyiv = shame on Zelensky and Biden.

Ukraine (maybe?) scratches Moscow = shame on Zelensky and Biden

Although illogical, points for consistency.

could be, yep. Someone is paying attention, great!

but there was no reason for Ukrainian drones to be anywhere close to Moscow in the first place.

So still Ukraine fault. with the same reasoning you use when a shot down Russian missile hits a school which wasn’t the target. Missile shouldn’t have been in that area anyway.

4 ( +7 / -3 )

so that justifies Ukraine to kill Russians in Moscow in return?

No Russians have died by Ukrainian hands in Moscow yet in contrast to the thug you seem to admire.

none of you will ever criticize Ukraine for anything, ever.

When Ukraine decides to invade another country on a bs lie and intentionally target civilian infrastructure, shoot old women in the street, that kind of thing, I will criticize them.

This is called sending a message to the power clique in Moscow "You are not safe, so don't think the war has nothing to do with you."

4 ( +7 / -3 )

Too bad.

No doubt they'll keep trying though.

Good effort

Putin is given a free pass by South Africa to attend a BRIC meeting.

Maybe it's a trap...

3 ( +8 / -5 )

it’s not and never has been.

And yet, you never criticize them.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

Of course, to the fascist-curious clique, everything is morally equivalent.

This was a classic rhetorical tool of the Soviets passed down to their Russian progeny.

If everything is equivalent, then no distinctions can be drawn.

Then real objective truth is unknown and is thus unknowable.

And that made every Soviet violation ok in a geo-political version of "he said - she said".

But of course it never was so.

Objective reality is eminently knowable.

This was was started by Russia on a lie. Russia is losing. So it has started to resort to it's last trick, bombing civilians.

And they get irate when they get a small, very small taste of what they are dealing.

3 ( +7 / -4 )

Wrong is still wrong

A standard it has never held the fascists to.

No trap. South Africa is very much on the side of Putin/Russia but it is also a member of the ICC.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

maybe not winning as fast as expected due to fighting the USA/EU/NATO by proxy.

but losing? Nah.

The invader has not yet achieved a single strategic objective. Not one.

It has 200k+ casualties, lost 1/2+ it's front line tanks, has 3 NATO-facing armies rendered combat ineffective which is a nice way of saying they have had so many casualties that they have been essentially destroyed.

Shall we carry on with examples from the mighty Red Air Farce? How about the heroic actions of the Black Sea "fleet"?

So, yes, as the aggressor, Russia is losing.

But of course, this one would have said that Japan was winning as late as August 45.

Tokyo Rose has nothing on this one.

If wrong was indeed wrong, then you would have denounced Moscow long ago.

I have indicated when they did wrong and called it out as such.

just waiting on you to one time criticize Ukraine for anything. You wont and cant.

Ukraine haven't claimed responsibility for this attack.

-1 ( +6 / -7 )

Well it wasn’t an attack on civilians using the donated weapons and they didn’t really say they did it or not, so it’s totally ok.

the mental gymnastics on that one is pretty impressive.

-4 ( +7 / -11 )

The larger picture is not about drone attacks by Ukraine intentionally targeting civilians.

This is a war of attrition and will be decided by a function of 3 factors:

1) balance of resolve - no meaningful difference, both sides determined to win - Russians facing an existential threat from NATO (& a bordering nationalist state), Ukrainians want their former territory back (ignoring the civil war unleashed).

2) population size ratio - going into the operation 3.5 to 1 (counting Donbass locals as "Ukrainian". Now after 8 million people leaving (including 3 million to Russia and counting Donbass as Russia), it become 5 to 1. Advantage Russia.

3) artillery ratio - minimum 5 to 1 or as high as 10 to 1. Advantage Russia.

Point three drives the Loss exchange ratio minimum 1 to 2, more likely to be 1 to 3 or 4 (or higher). *Advantage Russia*** but when considered in conjunction with point two this is bad news** for Ukraine.

It's these factors which will shape the conflict - not inept drone attacks on the Western Moscow outskirts aimed at residential zones.

-4 ( +3 / -7 )

So as long as Ukraine doesnt invade anyone, everything Ukraine does, no matter how illegal or immoral or evil, is fine with most of you.

that’s the problem. Wrong is still wrong, absent any of that happening or not. Not only wont criticize it, but actually even supportive of it.

-6 ( +3 / -9 )

But of course, this one would have said that Japan was winning as late as August 45.

this nonsense again?

-6 ( +4 / -10 )

This was an attempt to assassinate Vladimir Putin. Several weeks ago, Putin destroyed NATO’s command center in Kyiv killing the commanding officers, generals, and high ranking military officials that are responsible for the war. NATO failed miserably to retaliate against Putin by this failed assassination.

-8 ( +6 / -14 )

Sure. When the invaders go home.

The civilians attacked today in Russia ARE “at home”.
