Russia unleashed intense drone and missile attacks overnight Wednesday, damaging critical port infrastructure in southern Ukraine, including grain and oil terminals, and wounding at least 12 people, officials said.

Putin is evil.

Anyone surprised Russia wouldn't keep its word? Yeah, me neither.

5 ( +15 / -10 )

Of course they're only thinking of the starving kiddies. You might fool some but not those that understand the reality

-16 ( +7 / -23 )

Putin said Wednesday that Russia could return to the deal if the West offers Russian banks involved in servicing payments for the country's agricultural exports an immediate access to the SWIFT payment system, adding that Moscow wants action, not “ideas.”

Nope. Terrorism absolutely should not be rewarded.

11 ( +17 / -6 )

And yet again no military facilities were hit, not one... all very believable.

PS What happened to all those Patriot batteries?

-12 ( +8 / -20 )

Mr Kipling

They used cheap ones not Duracell and ran out of charge, lol

-14 ( +6 / -20 )

He's right up there with Hitler and Stalin ...pure evil.

The usual people coming on to defend Putin and say this was a legitimate military target ?

8 ( +16 / -8 )

njca4

slight exaggeration there. Putin may be ghastly but he’s not murdered millions of people

-15 ( +7 / -22 )

Not only are the Russians starving the most needy and hungry people in the world, but they're destroying thousands of tons of food.

That's really cruel.

7 ( +15 / -8 )

stormcrow

Happens daily in most developed nations to control prices. I suggest reading up on it. There’s no shortage of food on this planet, it’s just bad logistics in certain places.

-14 ( +5 / -19 )

Russia is a disgrace of a country. Here is hoping Ukraine is in the midst of a plan to end this tyranny once and for all.

6 ( +15 / -9 )

Not Woking Out well is it. As I mentioned countless times, a ceasefire and talks are needed to end this.

-16 ( +5 / -21 )

He said Moscow has shown “miracles of patience and tolerance” by repeatedly extending the grain deal while Western nations used it “shamelessly enrich themselves," violating its declared goal of helping relieve hunger in poor countries.

Supposedly one of the world’s richest men, who has become so through questionable and corrupt means, complaining about countries “shamelessly” enriching themselves, while trying to blackmail a win for Russia. Sick.

7 ( +11 / -4 )

Russia's strategic attacks are precise and weaken the infrastructure of the Kyiv regime..

-8 ( +7 / -15 )

Not Woking Out well is it. As I mentioned countless times, a ceasefire and talks are needed to end this.

I agree.

Russia's strategic attacks are precise and weaken the infrastructure of the Kyiv regime..

In the end, both sides are damaged by this.

Mr Kipling

It seems one in Crimea was hit.

Oh, sorry, that was one of the imperialist’s invader bases so you didn’t want to hear about that one I guess.

7 ( +12 / -5 )

Anyone surprised Russia wouldn't keep its word? Yeah, me neither.

What "word" was that they didn't keep?

Oh! You mean the grain deal!

Well despite all western MSM writing this:

pulled Russia out of its participation in the Black Sea Grain Initiative,

Other MSM write "end" etc...

The facts are the deal ended the 17th and Russia warn many times the Ukraine was using the safe zones to attack Crimea and if they did it again the deal would not be extended!

Ukraine used remote controlled boat launched from the safe zones to hit the Kerch Bridge, on that day the deal was 100% dead and Ukraine knew that before launching the attack.

Poking the bear and expecting it to roll over and do nothing.

Actually this is completely irrelevant. It's not the reason that Russia didn't renew.

Can you provide a link that shows where the drones that hit the Kerch Bridge were launched from?

Ukraine has to cede part of it's territory to Russia to stop the war.

Why?

-1 ( +6 / -7 )

Can you provide a link that shows where the drones that hit the Kerch Bridge were launched from?

Yes!

It is called logic!

Here is a map.

It shows what each side controls and the DMZ pay attention to the DMZ line!

https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/d/df/Black_Sea_Initiative.svg/800px-Black_Sea_Initiative.svg.png

Ukraine has no land, no port, no facilities on the Crimea/Kerch side of the DMZ, so the only way any boats could have gotten to Kerch was to have crossed the DMZ.

It is that simple.

-1 ( +6 / -7 )

No again western MSM spin!

Yes Russia did also say the SWIFT deal but as usual in this propaganda war, MSM left out all the rest of the conditions and complaints as if SWIFT was the only thing.

And then people claim western media isn't propaganda!

OK, so where did Putin say that they pulled out of the grain deal because Ukraine was using the safe zones to attack Crimea. Links please.

Russia launches cruise missiles from its ships in the Black Sea.

Russia increased the number of its warships in the Black Sea to 11, among them two missile ships with a total volley of 12 Kalibr-type cruise missiles.

Up to March 2023, the Russian Navy frequently launched SAGARIS. Russia likely temporarily suspended using these weapons because it wanted to rebuild its reserve stocks.

Can you provide a "Logical" way of getting from Ukraine territory to the Bridge by boat without passing through the DMZ?

Balls in your court.

Nah

Your grossly over-exaggerating man

There are cases of people exaggerating and underplaying what’s going on here.

Here is an example of laughable underplaying and making excuses for Putin:

Putin's little tit for tat military operation

So transparent.

Surely you know how to use Google!

There are plenty going back to the original deal the extension deal.

If You can't find them it is because you don't want to!

The attack on the Crimea bridge was by waterborne drones. They have a flying distance of about 100 miles.

One should read correctly.

2 different things in the article linked.

Water drones and air drones not a drone that flies then floats.

Two different types of drones and the article linked is very clear these were waterborne drones, meaning they had to be launched from land directly into the water and that meant crossing the DMZ

Ukraine has to cede part of it's territory to Russia to stop the war.

Why?

Ok then whats your solution ?

As always, those who think Ukraine should cede territory after ‘Putin's little tit for tat military operation’ ( invasion ) are t willing to say what they should give up.

Be specific.

RMOD said the following:

*“With the termination of the Black Sea Initiative and the abolition of the maritime humanitarian corridor, from 00:00 Moscow time on July 20, 2023, all ships en route to Ukrainian ports in the Black Sea will be considered potential carriers of military cargo,” *

Targets included Odesa itself.

Port of Chornomorsk (about 20km south of Odesa).

Kanatovo air base in Kirovohrad Oblast.

Mykolaiv

Kharkiv had train networks hit including freight trains.

All targets hit. Significant damage to port infrastructure/ fuel facilities.

This is just the beginning as the gloves come off. Kyiv will pay a significant price for militarizing the humanitarian corridor.

-2 ( +6 / -8 )

All ships bound to Ukraine Black Sea ports will now be considered carrying military contraband. Moscow has informed the relevant international navigation bodies that north-west Black Sea passages are unsafe for navigation: ship owners and insurers be informed - sail at your own peril.

Flags of convenience will not evade this condition.

Mines have been detected in the yesterday in the south Black Sea.

Ukraine's Black Sea ports are officially closed for business.

It’s scary that a lot of people on here don’t seem too worried about a world war. I think compromise is the best way, the only way. Your principles are one thing but safety for the world of people not even involved is beyond it all.

0 ( +6 / -6 )

This war will end well as lots of people desire, the US has a history of supporting lost cause, beside their own failure, Ukraine fate was sealed in the first day of independence

-3 ( +6 / -9 )

It was meant to be a two. Sided deal except the west failed to live up to it's side of the bargain! 80% of the wheat ended up in Europe as cheap animal feed...not really feeding the masses were they more like their bottom line.

-3 ( +5 / -8 )

The brilliant concept here is that it forces Kyiv to transport it's agricultural products by road/rail through the EU. This has several negative consequences including less volume and cost effectiveness (rail gauges don't match).

But the real kicker is that Ukrainian grain has caused severe political frictions in EU countries bordering and through which it transits - or more realistically gets dumped - hurting local farmers by depressing prices. Poland in particular has taken a tough line on this.

It's hitting two birds with one stone.

Project 5150 Numbskull

And don't say drive out the invaders because Ukraine isn't strong enough to keep it up for much longer.

And yet Ukraine now has more tanks than Russia, whereas at the start of the war Russia had 4 times as many tanks. Russia's generals are being purged and morale is rock bottom.

I don't find it unreasonable to say that Ukraine will be successful. We will see.

-3 ( +5 / -8 )

Delusional Kyiv was living in a parallel universe again when it publicly announced that the grain deal would go ahead without Russia and urged Turkey and the UN and whoever to make their wild proclamations reality.

These non-sensical terrorist attacks in Crimea and elsewhere do not change the equation one fraction. It's a sideshow from the failed counter offensive.

And everyone ignored the news over the last month that Russia has dramatically increased production of advanced munitions such as Kalibr and others by 2-3 times.

Word is there is going to be more fireworks tonight.

Update - Turkey announced it will not escort ships bound for Ukraine Black Sea coast.

-3 ( +4 / -7 )

Update - RMOD says "Countries whose ships sail in the Black Sea to Ukrainian ports will be involved in the conflict on the side of Ukraine".

-2 ( +4 / -6 )

JJE,this grain is unfit by US standard

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

Anyone surprised Russia wouldn't keep its word? Yeah, me neither.

No, Putin had shown great patience and tolerance while the other side continued to ignore their side of the deal. And with Ukraine taking advantage of the deal for importing weapons and committing acts of terrorism, Putin finally had enough.

-1 ( +6 / -7 )

And yet Ukraine now has more tanks than Russia, whereas at the start of the war Russia had 4 times as many tanks.

You need to stop reading "Kyiv Post"

Russia by all accounts including USA military has considerably more.

The pro Ukraine news tries counting vehicles like Bradleys as tanks they aren't nor are the French AMX-10 RC armored vehicles, often called a wheeled tank but it isn't can't be used like a tank.

But again western MSM propaganda.

US DOD just announced that Russia has 900 tanks just across the border from Lyman all modern.

This isn't even affecting their forces in occupation zones.

Even the USA admits Ukraine has lost 30% of its equipment in the last month and that is what is admitted to, so the actual number is probably higher.

I believe it's those autonomous regions that voted with an overwhelming majority to join Russia. Ukraine will never get those...

Debris from those that were shot down struck apartment buildings, seaside resorts and warehouses, sparking fires and injuring several people

Debris again, so these places and people were not targeted.

0 ( +8 / -8 )

Putin kept his word on the deal. I'm astonished it didn't get canned earlier to be frank.

The west needs to look in the mirror when it points the finger of blame on this one.

If you target a city with civilians in it, and the debris falls on civilians in that city, then yes, those places and people were targeted.

-4 ( +3 / -7 )

I can’t say I’ve read half of the books written about the history of this, but I’m not uninformed.

And yet you think putin is comparable to Hitler and Stalin

I didn’t post that. I didn’t agree with it.

I said some are prone to exaggeration and others are underplaying Putin’s invasion.

An invasion. Calling it anything else is suspicious.

FYI fooktard

This is very unpleasant.

It has no place in adult conversations.

-2 ( +4 / -6 )

Make no mistake: Russian missile strikes are getting hitting the designated targets. There’s photos on Telegram of the detestation.

Kyiv has had a clampdown on SM reporting (which means arresting people or worse) so they have constructed a false narrative of civilian targets - and prevented reporters anywhere near the actual damage. There’s a name for this - perception management. And it’s mainly aimed at the West for obvious reasons.

This dovetails with their parallel narrative that all or almost all of the cruise missiles and drones are shot down.

1 ( +8 / -7 )

If you target a city with civilians in it, and the debris falls on civilians in that city, then yes, those places and people were targeted.

No they werent.

The missile/drone was on the way to the target and was "shot down"- causing its intended path to be interrupted and damage/injuries in areas that were not the target.

1 ( +8 / -7 )

OR....they were in fact not shot down at all, that entire "we shoot down 100%" narrative is a lie and those places were the targets.

Pick one- cant have it both ways.
