If Turkey is not buying oil from ISIS, one has to wonder what these thousands of ISIS tanker trucks are doing, which Russia has been hunting down, much to the anger of Erdogan? Transporting olive oil? Who does Erdogan think he is fooling? (Except Western politicians, that is...)

Putin alleges he has his proof. Let's not ignore the fact he is a notorious liar and that he continues to prop up the dictator Assad.
Triring
It would be more acceptable if they just release the satellite images so everyone can validate the proof.
I'm sure they will be in successions which are pretty difficult to doctor.
SuperLib
And Putin is a de facto dictator who can create any message he wants and distribute it to Russians. This is also a fact.
WilliB
If the local tinfoil hat brigade claims that Erdogan is not buying stolen oil from ISIS, I wonder that they think is in the thousands of tanker trucks running between ISIS oil installations and Turkey?
Please?
jerseyboy
Possibly. Or it could be the same "proof" they had that the Malaysia Airlines flight was downed by Ukrainian forces believing they were shooting at Putin's plane.
Madverts
If Russia had proof then they should share it with an international court and there should be serious repercussions for Turkey.
Let's see it Mr Putin.
lostrune2
Let's see their proof first

I'm not a fan of Russia, but I seem to remember the Russian authorities ALWAYS assumed terrorism was a possibility. What was not considered a possibility was the plane getting shot down by a surface to air missile.
That said, I wonder if this is the same kind of "proof" that is being broadcast in Iraq about American military helicopters re-supplying ISIS?

Just watch the official statement of the Russian deffence minestry ---

And there will be more proofs.

I found the proof!!!:

Incisive journalism. Not. The Time article continues:

I always thought it's ridiculous that Turkey is a member state of the council of Europe, a member of the UN and also of NATO. They should be stripped of these memberships. It's almost like allowing isis themselves join the council of Europe! Bloody barmy!
Xenjy
Erdogan said he would resign if there is concrete proof too. I am interested in seeing what the Russians have.
gcbel
That quote was from, WH spokesman, Josh Earnest. yes, please.
gcbel
So, you admit Putin is "a de facto dictator who can create any message he wants and distribute it to Russians". Thanks. Tu quoque... doesn't always work well as an argument does it?
yamashi
@presto345"Let's not ignore the fact he is a notorious liar".
Seems you have confused him to some classical dirty western politician like GWB or Tony Blair. I think Putin plays gentleman speaking to westerners about evidence of IS tanker trucks. Europeans and Americans are well aware of illegal oil business between IS and their Turkish friends. And European and American politicians will continue to cover are of Turkey by all possible means.
SuperLib
So how much longer do you think Putin will be in power? 10 years? 20 years?
The fact is I can't imagine Russia can produce any kind of evidence that they haven't already discredited themselves, especially the Russians on this message board. During the Ukraine crisis we were told photos can be Photoshopped, videos can be edited, audio recordings can be manipulated, Twitter accounts can be hacked, etc.
So what will they do for proof? Roll out some satellite photos and videos?
gcbel
Smart man. Did you have a point? Not, I guess.
Madverts
The tinfoil hat brigade broadcast the same messages here. And not just the paid Putinbots from St Petersburg. It kinda makes you wonder what and who's horse they have in this race.
yamashi
@SuperLib"The fact is I can't imaging Russia can produce any kind of evidence".
SuperLib, you have no much credibility here.
Jeff Ogrisseg
@ White House regime spokesman Josh Earnest, how stupid do you think people are? Since ISIS oil is STOLEN from Syria and Iraq, why would Bashar al-Assad be buying back his country's stolen property?
The Kool-Aid is really strong today!
RichardPearce
That the American state department, which claims not to see the evidence that Israel has a nuclear weapons program, commits mass atrocities, and commits, as a founding principle, human rights abuses on so large a scale that they are literally recognized in international law as a crime against humanity, can't see the evidence even when Russia is rubbing their nose in it should not come as a surprise to anyone.
dcog9065
Probably the same proof that was offered to show that Russians weren't involved in Crimea and Eastern Ukraine. What a joke
gcbel
“The irony of the Russians raising this concern is that there’s plenty of evidence to indicate that the largest consumer of ISIL oil is actually Bashar al-Assad and his regime, a regime that only remains in place because it is being propped up by the Russians,”
Why Bashar Assad Won’t Fight ISIS
http://time.com/3719129/assad-isis-asset/
"Even from the early days the regime purchased fuel from ISIS-controlled oil facilities, and it has maintained that relationship throughout the conflict. “Honestly speaking, the regime has always had dealings with ISIS, out of necessity.”
Black Sabbath
Is this the same kind of "proof" they used when determining their airplane crash in Egypt had nothing to do with terrorism...?
