Looks like the Russians are going to have problems with the Muslims in Crimea.

I believe Tartar autonomy, if it involves territory, is not practical, unless the Tartars are willing to live is an enclave, in which they might become tourist curiosities. What would be a good move would be to make Tartar an official language of Crimea for a start. Crimea separated from the Ukraine because of the right-wing government's linguistic nationalism. Crimea should also make Ukrainian, along with Russian, an official language. From what I have seen, there do not seem to be deep rooted ethnic animosities in Crimea (I could be wrong). Taking the Canadian and New Zealand approach good be good for Crimea.

So some GERMAN companies are more worried about $$ than the human rights of the Ukranian people??

Also French and Italian companies. Political sanctions are stupid and pointless because economics dictate rules of behavior. Europeans will never cut their business ties with Russia in favor of the USA.

If the Tartars are the majority in so much as a city, they should also be granted independence, even as a mere city-state.

They share their towns with other nationalities. Also, they use common communications, so they can not be fully independent.

Not a single initiative on a national level from any EU state to help solve this crisis, just harping from German industrialists.

The US should stop providing the needed military strength for the EU, and force those nations to spend the money, and grow the cajones, to provide for their own defense to dissuade future Russian aggression. It's time for the Germans to stop using the excuse of their post WW2 constitution, and to stop allowing the German industrial empire to move that nation to be little more than a soulless business-state.

It will have to be a gradual process, but the US should set a timetable for its effectual withdrawal from Europe as anything more than a suppurating military partner
