So Tu-23M was the compromise that Putin was willing to make with Kim in place of the submarine nuclear propulsion technology that Kim desperately sought to be able to build SLBM subs able to nuke the US mainland.
With Tu-23M, Japan is threatened but not the US mainland.

Russia shows North Korea's Kim hypersonic missiles and strategic bombers
Got to love this headline!
Shows but won't deliver. Most Kim will get is some advice and an AK47.
Oh, and by they way, how many of those jets and missiles have crash-landed so far?

Cheerleading isn't helping anything. Its making everything worse.
You have to take reports in the western media on Russian failures with a grain of salt, and remember they intentionally omit Western failures. and greatly oversell Western military tech.
Naturally, the Russian and Chinese press/ governments do the opposite.
The simple truth is we have lying greed bags in all countries, and if we don't keep them in check they will run rampant and make sure there is always some profitable war somewhere. They have been very successful so far. And cheerleading for them isn't helping.

"Here, take our new Russian garbage in exchange for your poorly manufactured and poorly stored Ammo. It's still junk but it's much better than your old Soviet garbage."

Well, aside from the former and the latter, that's probably true.

I do not think Kim is getting any of these expensive toys, however a deal with mutual benefit is certainly on the table. I would assume cheap NK labour for Russian factories against raw materials for NK, both wanted by both sides.
lincolnman
If by "cheap NK labour", you mean human slaves, I'd tend to agree...
If Kim does get any Russian high-tech, he will immediately trade it to the Chinese for a new limousine or some new French furniture for one of his palaces....
ClippetyClop
He really is as dim and dull as he looks. Absolutely clueless.
Bet he can’t wait to get back home for a hot bowl of mud.

Fundamentally yes, however this is nothing new. South Korea has been using "special economic zones" in NK for a while for cheap production, often of goods for export.
And check out the labour conditions in the Chinese factories where US companies produce your cellphones and similar gadgets. Pot-kettle?
Kim has his limousines and French furniture anyways. Meanwhile, the country has realistic needs. It is not rocket science to predict what the deal will look like.

Season opener is done and dusted. I wonder who is going to be in episode 2 of “looking at things”
TaiwanIsNotChina
Not really. China and North Korea allow these things to happen because this is how they treat their own people.
lincolnman
Those ended long ago (2016) - nK then blew up one of the buildings...you're kind'a behind the times...
Not me - I don't have any Chinese made pot-kettles...or Trump Collection clothing...do you?
Absolutely not. each side will do their best to cheat and swindle the other - that's what despots do....
Zaphod
TaiwanIsNotChina
Yes. And who benefits of these? It US and European companies that have been outsourcing production to places like Communist China.

showing solidarity is not cheerleading.

I can see the DORKS angling for some Su-35s to upgrade their antique air fart, er "force", but with their pilots only getting 20 hours of flight time annually (less than a Western pilot gets in a month,) & the increased technology upkeep, I really can't see them being operational or effective.
More like manned targets.

Shoigu showed Kim Russia's strategic bombers - the Tu-160, Tu-95 and Tu-22M3 - which are capable of carrying nuclear weapons.....................But do any of them work as they should? .....Now let me guess, erm, No.
