You didn't think Putin would be a good boy and call a truce, did ya?

4 ( +8 / -4 )

Let me ask two simple and logical questions-did anyone thought that Russia s response will be different?

Did you expext they will say ok ,turn the page, nothing have happened?

In case if someone is shocked or surprised ,thet person must be or very naive or without touch with reality.

It so strange. All this chaos. If only the wives of these leaders, Putin, Zelenski walked in the room, this freaking war would be over in two weeks tops. Slap on the back of the head a good dressing down, their wives making them feel so small like you know they can and do; and this war is over. Wives of the world leaders stand up; and put your crazy lunatic world leader in his place.

@eastman) Did you expext they will say ok ,turn the page, nothing have happened?

I did not expect that, and doubt many reasonable people did either, I think most reasonable people believe Putin and the Kremlin (with support from some in BRICs) have just begun their territorial expansions, and expect more wars ahead. As the anti-west, pro-Russian supporters continue to claim the Russian economy has benefitted from the war. (whether it's true, who knows?) So for Putin and his oligarchs to get even richer, and control more territory, and control more resources, look for no let up in the Russian assaults on Ukraine, and instead look for for more wars ahead. Putin and the Kremlin could call a halt to their destruction of Ukraine, but I doubt they will. They seem to be begging for more wars, and those in the US/UK/NATO bloc seem to be willing to go to war against them. The fossil era is burning out and up. But the sun will continue to shine and the wind will continue to blow, leaving some hope.

Response to what?

NATO attacking Russia? Didn't happen.

NATO threatening to attack Russia? Didn't happen.

Ukraine attacking Russia? Didn't happen.

Ukraine threatening to attack Russia? Didn't happen.

Of course, these are only the sort of provocations that a normal country would view as giving them a casus beli to attack a neighbor. With Russia all you have to do is express interest in one day in the distant future maybe joining a defensive alliance that Russia disapproves of and PRESTO, you've got an excuse to launch a war in which tens of thousands of people in that country die.

5 ( +14 / -9 )

An unfortunately obvious development since Putin can't tolerate being called an enemy of Europe, so it does what it can do to make an appeal of power, thus justifying everything NATO said.

8 ( +13 / -5 )

Trying to intimidate others by using excessive force (shelling, destroying, raping, looting, deporting, and so on).

That's what Putin and his marauders are so good at.

But it has been decided, Finland and Sweden - welcome to NATO!

Putin is such a genius. Trying all he can to divide the world, but really he helps to unite - against Russia.

6 ( +13 / -7 )

So tragic. Russia could become part of the EU - even part of Nato! - if it were not controlled by fascist warmongers such as Putin and his enablers. But the war is not being fought just with weapons: how long Russian oligarchs will endure being cut off from their toys, travel, and overseas playpens is the real issue.

4 ( +10 / -6 )

NATO invited Sweden and Finland to join

NATO is making invitations now ?

-7 ( +4 / -11 )

Wives of the world leader's stand up and put your crazy lunatic world leaders in his place.

That's the most ridiculous sexist comment.

Just what we don't need is another gender war.

To assume their wives can have power over world leaders is very entertaining

-2 ( +5 / -7 )

@ Laguna

So tragic

I sincerely hope your not feeling sorry for Russia.

-7 ( +3 / -10 )

This what happened when dysfunctional people engage in war, this is now a war of attrition, the strong will vanquish the weak

-7 ( +2 / -9 )

"Absolutely everything is being shelled." means that as soon as the regime forces set up a firepoint, it gets taken out by a shell.

And the further west the allied militaries of Donetsk and Luhansk and Russia advance the more people who have been hiding to escape being dragooned into fighting for the regime come out to join the Donetsk and Luhansk militaries.

The Imperium could try doubling the amount of weapons and cash and 'volunteers' to prop up Zelensky's regime, but the basic problem still remains, whether you limit it to just the population of what used to be Ukraine, or go global, the majority of people don't see Zelensky's regime as legitimate, let alone worth fighting to save.

-12 ( +3 / -15 )

Wait too December, they will be singing a different toon, when frigid winter set in,as long as Zelensky is being prop up,he cannot make rational decisions,if you invaded ,it your duty to put up an adequate defense, former US general head of European command ,say Ukraine leaders, were negligence in their preparation, you factor in all the Ukrainlan traitors with allegiance to Russia, what do you expect

-9 ( +3 / -12 )

@RichardPearce

Some interesting Russian fiction you posted.

The reality is eastern Ukraine cities and people need to be liberated from the invaders and the few traitors fighting for Russia. Once the more modern, accurate and longer range missile systems and artillery are fully deployed you can expect Russian artillery to be picked off, more Russian aircraft to be destroyed and the atrition rates for the Russian military will increase to unsustainable levels.

Large numbers of experienced soldiers are outside of Ukraine training on these new modern systems, and they will then train additional crews once back in Ukraine. Russian advances are temporary and will be reversed with strong pressure applied to the invaders, and oppressed Ukraine citizens once freed from the grasp of Russia will pick up arms and help clear the traitors and their masters from Ukraine territory.

7 ( +11 / -4 )

I sincerely hope your not feeling sorry for Russia.

For the Russian people? I am, in a way. I've known several Russians and have found them warm and generous. It is not their fault that they're cut off from neutral media, that the slightest public dissent results in jail time, that they are forcefed Kremlin propaganda. Such a situation would drive any populace bonkers, as it did the US during the Vietnam War - at least initially. But it was public dissent, particularly by mothers of the war dead, that drove Russia out of Afghanistan, and it will likely be the mothers of current war dead that will again do the same. Putin has begun sending draftees to supplement enlistees to Ukraine, something he said he'd never do. Zelensky is not asking for Nato troops, just Nato weapons, and it is not Nato soldiers coming home in bodybags but Russian soldiers.

7 ( +9 / -2 )

Laguna, people in hell ,want ice water,it do not mean they will get it, Zelensky should pay infor weapon, maybe he will get them, Putin has destroyed Ukraine economy, that they have no mean to function at at third world level

-7 ( +2 / -9 )

Laguna, people hear what they want to hear, see what they want to see, believe what they want to believe, maybe he Ukrainain should get an objective, view of their leadership, their is no critical thinking left in Ukraine government

-8 ( +1 / -9 )

The West/Ukrain know that the only way to end this war is Putin death. This is. also the cheapest way for the West. So I assume the Allies have people working on this already. Expect Putin death will be reported has a medical condition.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

No US coup’s, CIA and military training, NATO in Ukraine? No war. It’s really that simple.

-8 ( +2 / -10 )

PT,you talking about less than 20 MLRS, Russian are bombing Ukraine ,back into the stoneage from Belarus and Russia , Ukraine showed no attempt to attack bases inside Russia or Belarus, the Ukrainlan have been pacified in the East,it just a mop up operation now, they say Putin set his sight back on Kiev,by redeployment of troops in Belarus, these rockets cost 40 thousands dollars a piece

-10 ( +0 / -10 )

No US coup’s, CIA and military training, NATO in Ukraine? No war. It’s really that simple.

Except for military training none of those things happened, yet we still have a war.

7 ( +9 / -2 )

The Russians are using all of their stocks for marginal gains.

Yes, Ukraine is suffering terribly. That is absolutely true. We should be doing more to help them. In my opinion, we should tell the Russians to pound sand and give, not sell the Ukrainian army force projection equipment. When Ukraine can hold bases and population centers inside Russia at risk, this terrorism will stop.

What happens when the Russians run out of exploding jack in the box tanks? Runs out of dead-ender volunteers and soldiers of fortune looking to make a quick buck? Runs out of artillary shells (they are being used at an unsustainable rate and even Russian stocks have a bottom.) or missiles?

What happens when the Ukrainian army comes back on stream with Western Howitzers that range their Russian counterparts and are far more accurate? When MRLS come on line? When the US starts providing trained pilots with F16s?

What happens is the Ukriane gets some payback and the Russians find reverse on thier vehicles. It's no less than they deserve.

What also happens is that the Baltic sea turns into a NATO lake. The Black sea becomes the permanent home of their aging fleet because it cannot leave.

Vlad better pray that he does not reap what he sows. But i think he is going to rue the day (if he lives long enough).

I guess you’ve never heard of the NUC right? Ah well, the MSM provides.

-11 ( +1 / -12 )

Laguna iam glad you clarified not feeling sorry for putin.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

@FizzBit

What about NUC has you concerned? I would have thought the threats/coercion and election meddling from Russia would have been more that enough reason for Ukraine to request a partnership with NATO. Same reason all of the Baltic states have done so as well.

7 ( +9 / -2 )

I guess you’ve never heard of the NUC right? Ah well, the MSM provides.

I guess you’ve never learned the difference between the NUC and NATO membership, right? Ah well, Russia Today provides.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

I guess you’ve never learned the difference between the NUC and NATO membership, right?

you said NATO is/was never in Ukraine. You are clearly wrong. They’ve been working with Ukraine through the NUC since 2009. I never said anything about membership. Russia don’t like it and have been saying it for years. They were willing to go to war over it. And now there’s a lot of dead innocent people because of ignorant obstinance and MSM lies. Remember Iraq?

-7 ( +2 / -9 )

you said NATO is/was never in Ukraine. You are clearly wrong. They’ve been working with Ukraine through the NUC since 2009.

So? I never said NATO had no connection to Ukraine. For Christ’s sake NATO had a similar organization with Russia itself (Russia NATO Council) until 2014, it would be equally idiotic to imply that NATO was “in” Russia in a way that would justify another country invading Russia based on that pretext as a result.

And now there’s a lot of dead innocent people because of ignorant obstinance and MSM lies.

So its the MSM that invaded Ukraine now? This is just stupid.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

FizzBit

Russia don’t like it and have been saying it for years. They were willing to go to war over it.

No they weren't. Putin certainly wanted to undermine NATO, but his hatred of NATO has nothing to do with this war. Putin wants Ukraine to be part of Russia. Just like he wanted Georgia to be part of Russia. Imperialism pure and simple. NATO is a convenient pretext that far too many gullible people in the West have fallen for.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

FizzBit - If Russia's goal was to not have NATO expand, then I would say he failed, because Finland and Sweden will most likely be joining. Did Putin not foresee this as a possibility? If not, then why not? If he did foresee it as a possibility, then it wasn't about NATO, it was about Ukraine.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Here's hoping that Putin's stress levels are extremely high, all day and night, every day and night.

Russian imperialism on display. We're constantly being told of other countries being imperialistic, but they don't grab land from the people and kill 28,010+ civilians wounding 5,900 in a few months like Russia has. Also, Russia hasn't apologized.
