It regards to heavy losses by Russia, yes. However, I doubt that they will be able to take the city. Ukraine has been able to surprise Russia and resist their attempts at encircling Avdiivka.

It's not really that strategically important, however, it is very important for Putin, because he wants to talk about a win for Russia before his election in March next year.

In the northern sector of Avdiivka the russians have lost approximately 10,000 men for the glorious success of capturing two fields. How many million will they lose capturing the heavily fortified city. Just one suburb of Donetsk.
