I don't think I broke any decorum

Sir, mocking my friends is not correct. Their only crime is standing up to the murderous putin regime.

But I find your observation about DPRK very interesting. Just like the Democratic party in a certain great nation - even if it is called Democratic, it does not mean it is really democratic.

United Russia?

Sir, considering there is very little independently confirmed data we don’t know if the vaccine does anything.

Sputnik is the real vaccine. Fifty countries around the world use it. At least Sputnik does not kill people, contrary to the Western stuff. Even in Japan there were several such cases.

The problem with Sputnik is we don't receive much data back. From the very beginning, they've been reticent about releasing peer-reviewed data regarding Sputnik. I'm optimistic it has similar low casualty rates as other most-used vaccines, but who knows how many casualties since we don't receive much data back

Also, it's not really used as much as people are led to believe - "Russia’s Vaccine Diplomacy Is Mostly Smoke and Mirrors"

The problem is not Sputnik, the problem is that in Russia there are too many anti-vaxers.

Sputnik is fine, but the Kremlin bungled it

Pfizer and Moderna shots, which the U.S. has used to bolster its standing abroad, has been met at home with skepticism. It’s an embarrassment for Washington, and an unwanted public reminder of the limits of its power".

There's too many anti-vaxxers in the US also, but Russia is way behind the US and Europe - over half of US and Europe are already fully vaccinated (and Washington can't be Kremlin though, even when it tries)

Sir I request you to maintain decorum. Just because N.Korea is called the Democratic people’s republic, it doesn’t mean it’s democratic

please focus on the uncontrolled spread of COVID in Russia!

Yes, Putin should focus on it. Meanwhile Americans should focus on the uncontrolled spread of COVID in the USA.

Russia should allow real vaccines, the ones with proper test data

Sputnik is the real vaccine. Fifty countries around the world use it. At least Sputnik does not kill people, contrary to the Western stuff. Even in Japan there were several such cases.

Sputnik V shot, which Moscow has used to bolster its standing abroad, has been met at home with skepticism. It’s an embarrassment for the Kremlin, and an unwanted public reminder of the limits of its power

Russia doesn't allow the Pfizer, Moderna, etc. vaccines, so the Russian people have no choice).

Combined with the Russian disinformation spread which results in a blowback. If your government lies all the time people lose faith in anything being said.

Russia should allow real vaccines, the ones with proper test data. They should focus on caring for their own people rather than trying to lie to the world!!!

Despite an early start in the race to vaccinate, Russia is now lagging behind Europe and the US. That's because of Russian people's skepticism of their own country's vaccines (Russia doesn't allow the Pfizer, Moderna, etc. vaccines, so the Russian people have no choice). Even the flagship Sputnik V shot, which Moscow has used to bolster its standing abroad, has been met at home with skepticism. It’s an embarrassment for the Kremlin, and an unwanted public reminder of the limits of its power.

It’s a painful own-goal for the country. Russia rushed to become the first nation to approve a Covid-19 shot, but it dragged its feet on peer-reviewed data. And while it moved swiftly to start its mass vaccination campaign, Putin didn’t lead the way. When he was finally inoculated, he chose to do so behind closed doors - an uncharacteristic display of coyness.

Russia has been hit hard by the pandemic. It revised its 2020 Covid-19 death toll higher by nearly 40% earlier this year. If it continues to go even higher, Russia would remain in other countries' travel black list for a long time (meaning people traveling from Russia would be subject to restrictions or outright travel bans). International sports events could not be held on Russian soil since players and staff coming back from Russia would face restrictions. Without widespread inoculation, the Covid-19 tail will be long — and Moscow’s jab diplomacy will look painfully hollow (e.g. how could you even promote the validity of your vaccine when your own people don't trust it)

Nonsense. I just opened some Russian news sites, there a lot of information about the situation with Covid. With the help of a translation program one can have the full picture, in details. Google your friend. And I think your stories from a myriad of Russian friends have the same credibility as the claim about the crackdown.

Sir I request you to maintain decorum. Just because N.Korea is called the Democratic people’s republic, it doesn’t mean it’s democratic. Neither do their claims about 99% of their population being behind the leader.

putin’s destruction of democracy is a separate matter, please focus on the uncontrolled spread of COVID in Russia!!

That has nothing to do with the Russian Government’s crackdown on any news of the uncontrolled surge of Covid in their country

Russia: more then 1 thousand deaths for the first time, 222 thousand deaths total. USA: more then 2 thousand deaths yesterday, 723 thousand deaths total. Judging from these figures what country is "a case study of the dangers of an incompetent regime to public health"?

Sir, I am not denying the fact that the right wing in America has contributed to the spread of the virus here. But in Russia it’s the ruling government which has bungled its response.

I wonder why no Western media report anything about it. Ask your friends to film one demonstration on their smartphones to support your claim.

My friend Ludmilla in Novosibirsk tried to do that and is still in prison even after 6 months.

Does Tatyana support Navalny? Is she a Jehovah's Witness?

Tatyana supports peace and her religion is humanity.

That has nothing to do with the Russian Government’s crackdown on any news of the uncontrolled surge of Covid in their country.

Russia is turning out to be a case study of the dangers of an incompetent regime to public health!!

My friend Dmitry in Moskva tells me that there are demonstrations against putin everyday now, something the government is suppressing

security forces are intolerant of any dissent and people are brutally beaten just for raising their voice

The same: ask your friends to film one beating of people who are "brutally beaten just for raising their voice". Or provide a link of any Western media filming such beating. Or you want us just to believe your fancy stories?

Factor in the Russian government’s lies and disinformation, the number could easily be twice or thrice the declared ones.

I think they want people to get vaccinated, and in that context it won't hurt to have a large number. But I don't think they are that incompetent (considering that they are far from the richest country in the world). They did everything possible to rush a vaccine out, which overall seems like a good bet in retrospect. It isn't their fault that Russians are behaving almost like Americans in this regard.

Under putin these words have no meaning . My friend Tatyana in St Petersburg told me that the security forces are intolerant of any dissent and people are brutally beaten just for raising their voice.

Does Tatyana support Navalny? Is she a Jehovah's Witness?

Russians don't care if you do that, they will just ignore you and live normally.

Or don’t apparently. It would seem about 1,000 of them a day are expiring and doing the opposite now that they have “natural immunity.”

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

In Russia the 3 most important words are diversity, tolerance and inclusion.

Nobody believes that, not even you.

This is in contrast to other countries where vaccinations are demanded, masks are forced and isolation is imposed by government

People are begging to be vaccinated in Russia but the government is not able to set up proper vaccinations because of incompetence!!

My friend Dmitry in Moskva tells me that there are demonstrations against putin everyday now, something the government is suppressing.

Russians have had enough of the government’s incompetence and want change!!!

2 ( +6 / -4 )

Yet average, every day Russians don't care.

All my Russian friends tell me otherwise, there’s a huge discontent in Russia on the government’s handling of Covid-19.

They enjoy their freedoms, they like hugging their grandmothers, they don't want to wear masks and they want to be forced to take an injection against their will.

A lot of older people caught the infection from their children and grandchildren because of the lack of information from the government.

Russians don't care if you do that, they will just ignore you and live normally.

That’s what the government wants the world to believe, but the situation on the ground is dire. There’s a lot of unrest in Russia now.

Russians don't care if you do that, they will just ignore you and live normally.

Which is why they’re doing at a faster rate than any other time during the pandemic. Maybe it’s also why Serbia has seen a boom in Russian tourists… might be another reason for that though.

It’s a huge country. Plenty of opportunities for you to enjoy domestic tourism.

The gents in the photo are here to collect grandma, sadly passed away from hugging.

they want to be forced to take an injection against their will.

That sounds more like Russia, finally.

An official government tally showed 1,002 deaths and 33,208 new infections, setting a high for both fatalities and cases for the third day in a row.

Factor in the Russian government’s lies and disinformation, the number could easily be twice or thrice the declared ones.

Russia is turning out to be a case study of the dangers of an incompetent regime to public health!!
