Russia wants investigation into alleged S Korean airspace violation

Japan won't like hearing that, but fact is the territories have been held by Korea since 1954. Now let's see how many downvote a fact even Abe won't dispute.

Heckleberry: The fact is, Russia completely ignored Japan's begging to be heard on the issue, and apologized to South Korea -- a nation that stands up for itself and fired many warning shots. Obviously Russia respects strength, and ignores weakness.

And you're right, of course. They are South Korean islands, plain and simple. It's funny how Japan cries and cries about this and insists they go to international courts, but then when it's the Senkakus and the same argument about administration of the islands comes up Japan says, "There is no need to go to the ICJ... they are our islands and we know it". Funnier still is the hypocrites who demand Korea go to the ICJ for the same thing. Well... "funny" in the pathetic sense.

Honestly, Japan has no leg to stand on on this issue, and I think that is what makes the wingers the most angry. This incident proves in the eyes of the world the islands are South Koreans, and all Japan can do is say, "It is US who SHOULD HAVE done something!"

Russia for once have already apologized for the incident..

Win-win for Russia. They have managed to give the impression of two opposites, both apologizing and not apologizing.

As far as both Russia and China are concerned, neither of them entered South Korean airspace.

Russia and China said none of their planes entered South Korean territory.

In a message to South Korea on Wednesday, Russia repeated its position that none of its planes violated South Korean territory and that South Korean fighter jets threatened its planes with "unprofessional maneuvers," according to Seoul's Defense Ministry.

Quoting from BBC four hours ago: “But Moscow denies any intrusion.

"We have seen statements in the South Korean media quoting words allegedly said by our acting military attaché," a spokesman for Russia's embassy in South Korea said, according to Interfax news agency.

"We have paid attention to these statements. In this connection we can speak for ourselves that there is a lot in them which does not correspond to reality."
