When I read on JT the pro-fascist Russian supporters

It wasn't Russia giving a standing ovation to a Ukrainian SS soldier in the Canadian parliament.

It wasn't Russian news trying to whitewash the 14th SS Galicia.

No it was the Ukrainian news and government trying to say these men didn't do anything wrong that despite the Jewish press and Polish press and governments listing the atrocities and massacres they participated in against Jews polls Russians and other minorities.

I read the Putin propaganda here from the fanbois but no matter how many times it’s repeated none of it changes the fact that Putin made a huge mistake and painted himself into corner. A corner he probably won’t be able to get out of alive.

His plan to take over Ukraine with his 72 hour “Special Military Operation” has failed and is well past the 72 hours it was supposed to take.

I terms of size Russia is huge compared to its smaller neighbor but, at this point, Russia’s invasion (72 hours, remember) has failed and Putin hasn’t achieved even one of his stated goals. In fact several went decisively in the opposite direction. The Ukrainians continue to successfully defend their country and have stopped Russia’s invasion forcing them to defend instead of “invade”. They haven’t ended the invasion yet but that will eventually come too.

When I read on JT the pro-fascist Russian supporters I wonder if they realize that the bottom line is Ukraine, a country 1/28th the size and a prewar gdp less than 1/10th of Russia has successfully defended their country for almost two years against what WAS considered prewar a world “superpower”.

It’s taking time but this situation as unthinkable two years ago. Ukraine has shown what Putin really is and, although slower than hoped, remember 1/28th and 110th, Ukraine is slowly pushing the invaders from their country and deserve all the praise and help the free countries of the world can give!

First, Russia wiped out Ukraine's navy.

Russia seized or destroyed much of Ukraine's navy when it first invaded in 2014. Russia largely finished off what was left at the start of its full-scale invasion last year.

This is called reality.

You clearly don't understand the implications of the land bridge being broken should that be achieved.

But since we don't know Russia's victory conditions its hard to tell if Russia has won, lost, or drawn in that sense. Many say the attacks on Kiev early in the war was proof Russia's plan was to take all of Ukraine. I never believed that, because Russia simply never had the numbers to take and hold all of Ukraine (still don't) and everyone knew that, especially the Russians.

Did they sacrifice valuable men and equipment to hit Kiev? Yes. But that's not surprising for Russia and Putin at all. So I continue to believe the goal of Russia was to take the eastern part of Ukraine up to the Dnieper river, because a river makes a strong buffer. Plus they wanted a land bridge to Crimea.

Yeah just believe all of that hardware they funneled into the assault on Kiev was all just a feint. If so, it was the worst feint exercised in the history of the world. But as you say, Putin may be willing to just throw his countrymen's lives away.

And so it looks to me as if Russia didn't quite satisfy their victory condition but Ukraine has gotten nothing but survival as a smaller entity.

Going to be at least 90% of its former size with at least some of its ports remaining. Not much for you to take satisfaction in for having destroyed Ukraine.

The exchange of fire may go on for some months before those monetarily invested in the war let it finally end.

The only one "monetarily invested" in the war is Russia.

One other thing to point out is that Russia is now on a war footing and that bolsters Putin. At the very least, the Russian people will be able to say that Putin did not lose, but did gain for Russian security while taking on the warmongers of NATO....which is true.

So multiple vietnams for some scraps of territory, more NATO members, and NATO hardware to the teeth all along Russia's border. Some security. I guess "not losing" is the most Russians can hope for these days.

It should be obvious that Russia are losing tanks faster than they can produce new ones, hence depleting stockpiles. The same goes for artillery shells, which has forced Russia to change how many shells the use on a daily basis.

Now according to the USA Defense department.

Russia is refurbishing 90 tanks from stock in storage ( they clarify this is mainly replacing/upgrading the guns/barrels and aiming systems).

They are building 20 new tanks a month.

This is more in just new tanks than Ukraine is receiving in older tanks that are comparable to the refurbished Russian tanks.

Ukraine claims it is fighting a war of attrition, but a war of attrition means depleting the enemy before you yourself is depleted.

Russia has more men, more equipment, out producing Ukraine and the west combined, Ukraine is on the offensive which means higher losses.

So feel good stories including fake ones in the western media about ukrainian successes doesn't change the fact that Ukraine has gained much if it has gained anything at all.

The Russian advances are in strategically unimportant places, designed to tie up Ukrainian troops. Ukraine is pushing for a breakthrough in the south. Russia are now responding by piling in reserves. Will be interesting to see what transpires in the coming weeks.
