The nuclear plant has been under Russian control since Moscow’s troops seized it early in the war.

The nuclear plant is under Russian army control.

It is still operational and providing electricity to Zelensky's government.

The Russian army has not turned off the power despite having the obvious ability to do so.

If the Russians wanted to harm Ukrainian civilians they could simply press the off button and wait a few days for society to collapse into chaos.

The Russian army has not done that, the plant is still supplying power to Ukrainians.

three civilians were injured after Russian rockets fell on a residential neighborhood

'residential neighborhood', Do the Russian forces have enough information to know whether they're firing rockets and killing ethnic Russians, or are they at a stage when anyone not wearing a Russian uniform is the enemy and therefore should be killed. It's starting to sound like the Russian officers might be even worse than US Army officer Calley in Vietnam, the officer convicted of not stopping his troops from slaughtering Vietnamese civilians at My Lai. After who knows how many thousand Ukrainian civilians have been killed, it's long passed time to stop the Russian invasion. Or is Putin still imagining all Ukrainians are Nazis, he's a deluded male leading deluded followers. Maybe he and most of his followers should look up the definition of fascism (the belief system the Nazis followed blindly) and start to reconsider their support for him and his ongoing butchering of civilians. Or are the Putin followers still trying to say the little fellow was goaded into killing thousands, if so you're saying he's a highly insecure male. Someone he feared was standing close to him so he unleashed his military and other private armies to kill innocent Ukrainians while he stayed hunkered deep in one of his palaces.

If the Russians wanted to harm Ukrainian civilians....

....they could drop cluster bombs on residential areas, destroy buildings clearly marked 'children' and reduce cities to dust with incessant shelling.

But the nice kind russian forces who want only what's best for Ukraine would never do that, would they?

Bakhmut and the surrounding area has been under attack for at least 2 weeks. Why have the civilians NOT been evacuated? We see literally millions of Ukrainians moving to Poland and on to every EU country. Yet we are to believe that those living on the front line are staying put? Are they being forced to stay? Or did they simply not notice there was a war going on? Or just more of the regular propaganda?

-10 ( +8 / -18 )

Mr Kipling, lots of these people are being targeted, because they are Russian speaking Ukrainian, they choose to stay , because of the hatred of the Kiev area Ukrainain

So, we are to believe that the Russian forces charged with securing the nuclear power plant from being sabotaged or worse by Zelensky's men are using its shelters to avoid Ukrainian shelling AND that it is Russia who is shelling it.

Like the claims that the Russian forces that withdrew from Bucha after having used it as a base for the operations that destroyed Zelensky's capability to make or repair tanks and military airplanes left civilian bodies in the streets because they were unconcerned about flagrantly committing war crimes and that Russian forces bombed the POW camp housing those who voluntarily surrendered after Zelensky ordered them to fight to the death after they were cut off and trapped far behind the frontlines, the need to commit Orwellian levels of 'doublethink' is a pretty good indication that they are propaganda.

-5 ( +11 / -16 )

-10 ( +6 / -16 )

the Russian forces charged with securing the nuclear power plant from being sabotaged or worse by Zelensky's men

Because of course the Ukrainians want to turn their own country into a nuclear desert?

It was the oh-so-careful russian troops charged with securing the nuclear plant at Chernobyl who dug trenches there in the radioactive earth. Not to mention smashing up and looting Chernobyl's workshops, labs and offices.

Why would anyone imagine they'd act any more responsibly at Zaporizhzhia?

Ever noticed that all the reports on the war always from the Ukraine or west countries.

Look at all the videos of the westerners actually living in Ukraine and reporting. They tell a completely different story as they interview the residents in the towns that were attacked. ------

That's a lie!

Russia run out of men, ammunition and Generals 4 months ago.

The Russians are only using a small part of their forces and they also rotate their soldiers continually to keep them fresh. No one really knows how much ammunition and resources Russia has, but it is obvious that they are not running out. Stop listening to the news from the west.

-9 ( +10 / -19 )

So last time The POW camp was hit Ukraine said it was Russia firing on its own facility.

Then it is Petal/butterfly cluster bombs fired into Russia held areas Ukraine says it was again Russia firing into its own areas.

Now the Nuclear power plant is hit and again Ukraine claims Russia is firing on its own positions all this to make Ukraine look bad.

Yep, sure we believe that just like the western media believed Russia fired on civilian targets but now Amnesty international days Ukraine is using civilian locations to place their troops including Hospitals, Schools, residential buildings without evacuating the civilians and launch attacks from these locations in violation of international law.

So the next time we hear "Russia" hit a hospital, Daycare, School, etc.. ask if Ukrainian military was firing from those positions before.

Mr. K - civilians have been ordered to leave Donetsk and most have. Some are choosing to stay at great risk. I hope civilian casualties can be minimized in the upcoming battle for Avdiivka and Bakhmut.

Yes interesting how that suddenly happened a few days before Amnesty international released a report condemning Ukraine for using hospitals, schools, and other civilian locations as locations to place troops and fire on Russians.

Resulting in those places being targeted and the civilians that we not told about the Ukrainian troops in their area or told to evacuate were killed, oh the. Ukraine pointed claiming Russia without provocation hit "unarmed" civilian locations!

https://www.amnesty.org/en/latest/news/2022/08/ukraine-ukrainian-fighting-tactics-endanger-civilians/

This report was expected several days ago and speculation was Ukraine was going to get a negative report.

Just as the rumours of this started Zelensky does what was never done before and orders evacuation.

Some very interesting coincidences in this war.

Nazi propaganda minister Joseph Goebbels that if you repeat a lie often enough it becomes the truth.

For a failure, control of over 20% of Ukraine, is surprising.

Ukraine has launched multiple "offensive" against what we were told was a demoralised Russian military, a depleted Russian military, a Russian military that was out of weapons in April, no May, no June, No July, etc...

I little over a week ago Ukraine said it was launching a great offensive, where is that? Billions in western arms and the great offensive was a tiny push that got crushed by the supposedly depleted Russian military.

Instead of going to news sites you know will tell you what you want to hear, try using site that tell the truth.

Israeli news ( a USA friend) more often reports facts, India, Turkey even Greek news (NATO members both) people may find what is being said or claimed on the BBC, CNN CBC are not facts but "official" Ukrainian news releases,

Come on Ukraine claims to have killed now 60,000 Russians anyone honestly believe that?

Late to the game.

It was a pressure turbine used to push gas From Russia to Germany, under maintenance in Siemens Montreal Facility.

Germany pushed Canada sent it back to Germany which is trying to return it so it can get full gas flow.

Canadians are now hostages to Ukraine, certain Provinces have a such a high concentration of "Ethnic" Ukrainians that no political party dates contradict them.

This was evident years back when the investigation into Nazi war criminals was told to seal it's full fundings because it would hurt the large Ukrainian population of Canada.

So ignore anything Canada says or does it is no longer Canada Zelensky is the new leader there.

Aren't the above News sites the same ones that said in April, May June July..., That Russia was demoralized, it's economy was destroyed, it was out of weapons, etc... Over and over again?

Strange how a country out of weapons, Troops deserting, tens of thousands supposedly killed (60,000 if you believe Ukraine) etc....is now again on the offensive, took more territory, stopped the Ukrainian offensive dead in its tracks.

Perhaps you need more fact based sources.

Try Jerusalem Post it tends to be far better on facts.

It seems the tide is starting to turn in Ukraine's favor. Maybe this is why Russia is hoping to import North Korean troops.

"Even after Ukrainian forces defeated the Russian attempt to seize Kyiv early in the war, the Russians were able to choose freely to concentrate their operations in the east. Ukraine’s preparations for the counteroffensive in Kherson and the initial operations in that counteroffensive combined with the dramatic weakening of Russian forces generally appear to be allowing Ukraine to begin actively shaping the course of the war for the first time. 75,000 Russian soldiers killed and they are still at a stalemate!!!

See what I mean by Fantasy news.

Ukraine government as of July 32 claimed it killed 40,000 Russians.

The USA and UK as of the same date say 15,000 Russian killed.(which is interesting as it was the same number of killed in April, may, Jun)

Russia claims it lost 5,000 (highly unlikely that low)

To compare:

Russia claims it killed 28,000 Ukrainian troops.

The USA says Ukraine lost 18,000 troops

The UK says Ukraine lost 15,000

(Note UK numbers are from July 20 USA July 30)

-7 ( +6 / -13 )

Well you still believe everything the Ukrainian and USA government tells you!

You have been here everyday pushing the Ukraine/USA narrative.

You have seen how Ukraine say ls this and that, claims it is winning and each time is pushed back more, you have been here when in April, then may then June then July we are told that Russia is at it's limits only for Russia to take more territory.

https://www.amnesty.org/en/latest/news/2022/06/ukraine-deadly-mariupol-theatre-strike-a-clear-war-crime-by-russian-forces-new-investigation/

There are many more, these are just some representative examples. I’m very glad to see that Amnesty International reports about what is going on in Ukraine are seen as important sources of information.

The TLDR version of their coverage is to wholly condemn Russia for indiscriminate killings of civilians and numerous widespread atrocities on the one hand, while in just a single report also criticizing Ukraine for its military operating too closely to civilians since it leads to theRussians killing even more of them.

6 ( +11 / -5 )

AS - I have told you repeatedly, but I don't rely on any one source to inform my view of the world. I look at everything I can on a subject (the closer to the source, the better) and that informs my outlook. I have told you before that my support for Ukraine goes beyond whether someone thinks they are winning or not or any missteps in the information war. I side with Ukraine because they have been invaded by Russia, just like I will side with the next country whose sovereignty Russia violates, just like you will find a way not to, probably.
