Once a Cossack, always a Cossack. What is it with those people? Genetic cruelty? Antediluvian brains?

3 ( +3 / -0 )

They snapped when Pussy Riot failed to cover Devo's signature tune, Whip It. Literally snapped.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

"Krasnodar region governor Alexander Tkachev, who has been advancing Cossacks’ interests for years, promised on Wednesday to conduct a “thorough probe” into the incident and prosecute the attackers."

Yeah, we believe you!

I wonder what would happen if a punk group barged into a cathedral in Ne York undoubtedly the police would be called to remove them. And if they didn't cooperate I wonder if force would be used...hypocritical ...in america people can legally buy a gun on the street and sell to anyone they wish without so much as a background check, we attack countries without provocation and remove governments to suit our interests...yet we still feel like we can tell other countries how to behave....

Very brave Russian men, Putin's Security Offers are very brave man and they should be given award for beaten women. I believe Putin has ordered his officers to beat those Pussy Riot members. That video was see by around the world and it's very shameful for Russian peoples. Russian authority is treating Russian peoples like animal.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

And Russia expects us to think of them as civilized. This is the most brutal thing that I have seen in a so called civilized country since I saw the photo of the black man being bitten by the police dog back in the 60s in the USA. I hope that this horrible and brutal scene has the impact on Russia like that photo helped to have on the USA. Russia for all its good points still struggles with having basic respect for its own people.

Cossack militia attacked Russia’s Pussy Riot punk group with horsewhips

Really good news ! (I'm from Russia)

Kobuta Very brave Russian men, Putin's Security Offers are very brave man and they should be given award for beaten women

They are not Putin's Security.

Cossacks - something special, Russian historical type .

You should read more 'bout them . No less interesting than Samurai or Vikings

notasap And Russia expects us to think of them as civilized.

No more

Now most Russian knew that russophobia - is integral part of Western culture

charm critics abroad with the most expensive Olympics ever.

Yeah, just don't drink the water or let it touch your face.

That's just victim complex. Most westerners didn't care about Russia one way or another until they legislated homosexuality as a crime, and killed a bunch of stray dogs in Sochi. The majority of westerners certainly don't care enough about a 3rd world country enough to have a phobia of it.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

Because These guys are so tough, they beat unarmed women with whips.

Not Vikings. Not Samurai. And this is not the 1600's. These guys are thugs through and through.

If only the hockey team had played with so much passion....

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Strangerland That's just victim complex. Most westerners didn't care about Russia one way or another

Surprise : did you hear 'bout Cold War ?

before this 2 WW and Europe united under Hitler power attacked Russia ?

Today NATO moves east ... US regardless bankruptcy spend a lot on antimissle system near Russian borders

Didn't care ?

West always try to destroy Russia under French, German or US command in chief

Alas....

The majority of westerners certainly don't care enough about a 3rd world country enough to have a phobia of it.

About 3 rd wold country

Napoleon empire (almost whole Europe) was defeated by Russian

Hitler empire (almost whole Europe) was ..

Today " Free World" was stopped in Syria and not by Saudi Arabia or Germany ...

Most westerners didn't care about Russia

Just hate it : Sochi 2014 is really bad

Why ?

Because Russian are bad....

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

Whip them again. Good. Dumb deserves pain.

-7 ( +1 / -8 )

At this point are we really supposed to be surprised when Russian security forces beat protesters? The two most interesting things about this story were the luchador ski masks, which I found wholeheartedly entertaining, and the fact that somewhere in the developed(ish) world people arm their police with horsewhips. That's antiquated even by Russian standards.

Surprise : did you hear 'bout Cold War ?

I remember that movie. I don't think it ended well for the Soviets.

Today NATO moves east ... US regardless bankruptcy spend a lot on antimissle system near Russian borders

It's kind of like poking a starving animal to see if it has any life left in it. Imagine our surprise when it got up started oppressing people again, I guess some habits are hard to break. If only they would use their powers for something other than daydreaming about the happy times of the Soviet Union.

One more time - it is not security forces

Cold War ? I remember that movie. I don't think it ended well for the Soviets.

Exactly ! This war was started by West in year 1946

And the point was "Most westerners didn't care about Russia"

Very strange indeed

I running a war against you for half a century , but I did not care ....

It's kind of like poking a starving animal to see if it has any life left in it. Imagine our surprise when it got up started oppressing people again

It's kind of like poking a starving animal to point to Serbia Iraq Libya - after US attack... they are of course not "oppressed "

People who live in glass houses...

Putin's scum enforcers. China's Olympics involved using gangsters to force residents from their homes to make way for construction work, Brazil leaves its people in dire poverty and closes libraries and educational facilities in order to build multi-million facilities, Russia whips a bunch of protesting girls.

Why do these sporting bodies give such events to countries like these?

You may be surprised, but Russians also do not care about a bunch of hypocritical gays in so-called "1st world countries". As for "victim complex" you can see it everyday on , say Euronews cnannel where euros constantly whine and cry about various aspects of Russian politics and social life.

Whatever you say. Actions of those "poor girls" are considered a pure example of hooliganism, a crime against society, according to Criminal Code of Russian Federation. Defending various trash, you step down on a very same level.

That's because Russia is corrupt and is a crap country. No offense.

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

Whipping people in public? Welcome to modern Russia.

technosphere: Whatever you say. Actions of those "poor girls" are considered a pure example of hooliganism, a crime against society, according to Criminal Code of Russian Federation. Defending various trash, you step down on a very same level.

Well, what I'm looking at is a man whipping the crap out of an unarmed woman. Putting the politics aside, that doesn't bother you in the least bit?

Olegek: People who live in glass houses

Here's what you guys don't get. We criticize Russia for what they are doing because we used to be like that ourselves. We used to smear homosexuals and tried to keep them on the fringe of society, but then we evolved. Now we look back and see just how stupid we were, and we can speak from experience.

Is that true for everything? Nope, not at all. But for this one issue, it is. We're still grappling with people in the US who protest funerals because it's God's revenge for accepting gay people, so our job isn't done yet. But the majority have learned to speak out against such people, the tide is turning, and it's only a matter of time before those dinosaurs go extinct.

And that's exactly what's going to happen in your country whether you like it or not. Until that time comes, yes, there will be more than a few Americans who will show support and speak out against persecution of gays whether it be here or in Russia. Get used to it.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

@Superlib@

"Well, what I am looking at is a man whipping a crap out of an unarmed woman".

Yep. Those "unarmed women" often organize various NASTY SHOWS in public places. Inside a church, for instance. They insult authorities (not my problem) and they also insult local folks. And that is a problem. You see a reaction of a local man. Further, if any person of that wonderful female company step into a public library where I am reading a book and try "to dance and sing songs", I will be a first to kick her ass and throw her out.

-5 ( +2 / -7 )

Strangerland...hahaha you think Russia is a third world country. Wow you must be american. I've seen worse parts of Michigan than anywhere in Russia. America is becoming irrelevant and Russia is becoming a major superpower again. I know it hurts...and I know its hard to accept but its the truth...most Americans are fat, lazy and don't like to work. Russia and China are the new america. Russia has natural resources and China controls manufacturing. America has only debt and is pretty much owned by china now. So I suggest you get to studying and maybe you can eventually get a job in China or Russia.

-5 ( +2 / -7 )

Those "unarmed women" often organize various NASTY SHOWS in public places.

Why the quotes around "unarmed women"?

You think dancing and singing constitute some form of armed assault?

3 ( +3 / -0 )

@lucabrasi

"You think dancing and singing constitute some form of armed assault?"

In some places, certain form of behavior, including dancing and singing, constitute a crime, called "hooliganism". For instance, if you enter a hospital, a church, a hall of a parlament or any other public place (even crowded square) and begin to sing, insulting local people by nasty words of your song, or you begin to dance, shaking, say naked buttocks, it will be considered a crime. Can you understand ?

0 ( +2 / -2 )

@technosphere

I understand completely; I'm a native English speaker.

My question was, why the quotes around "unarmed women"?

You do understand that quotes imply disbelief? If I were to say "democratic Russia", or "civilised Zimbabwe" (for example), that would suggest that I considered Russia undemocratic, and Zimbabwe uncivilised. That's one function of quotes.

So again, why "unarmed women"?

You believe they were secretly armed?

1 Eiji Takano That's because Russia is corrupt and is a crap country. No offense.

2 Strangerland That's just victim complex. Most westerners didn't care about Russia

Houston we have a problem .....

You must choose only ONE option

2 ( +3 / -1 )

@lucabrasi : yes, I understood. Thank you. I was replying to Superlib's message. He started to use that term, speaking about "a man, whipping a crap out of unarmed woman".

@TokyoDiman : seems, eiji takano is not a Japanese person.

We used to smear homosexuals and tried to keep them on the fringe of society, but then we evolved. Now we look back and see just how stupid we were, and we can speak from experience.

Why your critisism has no significance in Russia :

1 Relatioships between Russia and West like relationships between Korea and Japan

We are NOT friends

So any criticism from foe will be ignored

2 As I said before - russophobia is integral part of western culture

And as usual people didn't like when somebody hate them

3 Cultural difference - Russia is NOT Europe, we are Russian and not white.

Crusades announcing not only against Arabs but against Russian also

( Beat schismatics! )

So Assad is closer to us then president of France François Hollande

Sorry

4 Today West running lot of wars and NOT on his own soil ....

Russians didn't like warmongers....

5 We used to smear homosexuals and tried to keep them on the fringe of society

right decision

-1 ( +4 / -5 )

The more I read about actions of those "pussies", the more I recall Mrs Carmody from Stefen King's "The Mist". I suppose, that "Mother" Tolokonnikova will meet her Ollie Weeks, sooner or later.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

technosphere: it will be considered a crime. Can you understand ?

Sure, I understand the notion of making laws, but I didn't think that you could just walk up and administer punishment yourself on the spot.

Besides, if you want to punish insulting performances in public, shouldn't you start with your Olympic hockey team?

0 ( +3 / -3 )

Superlib..the cold war is over and times are changing. You think that just because you are american and Americans accepted gay rights that gives you the right to dictate what other independent countries do. Just because america considers itself the world police doesn't mean that whatever you say will be done by everyone. Yes you can bully and destroy other countries like Iraq and libia that don't suit your interests but you can't with Russia. They are too big and powerful. They are independent from the EU and have a huge wealth of natural resources as well as military strength.

The point in making is that just because youAmericans think that something is right doesn't mean that every country has to follow suit. Take care of your own homeless starving jobless nation first. Provide them with healthcare and education. Maybe then you can see that other countries with a much greater and longer history have different mindsets and different level of acceptance to pro-homesexual propaganda.

As for the Russian hockey team...yes they lost but they lost to Finland and USA will too if they face them. Russia clearly won the game against USA.

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

@Superlib :

"if you want to punish insulting performances in public, shouldn't you start with your Olympic hockey team?"

Cheap shot. Bad performance on ice has nothing to do with singing songs in public places, grimacing and verbally insulting people.

@Eiji Takano :

"That's because Russia is corrupt and is a crap country. No offence."

You are a worthless piece of crap. No offence.

I saw the video , I was so happy. Now if we could do the same to the Femen. lol

@TokyoDiman, @Olegek, @Technosphere,

you are wasting your time. They consider themselves as the "free world" and that the rest of the planet is backwards. Just see how they "urge" everyone to do this or that. Almost everyday in the news, the US urge ...to, the EU urges .... to .

This makes the citizens of those countries to think that they know what is right and what is wrong. They are completely brainwashed.

At least in N. Korea and some African countries they don't believe the propaganda (they pretend to be brainwashed lol). We know the leaders lie, the leaders know that we know that they lie but they keep lying anyways. In those countries, they believe that they are free and believe whatever they are told on TV.

Happy for Russia for these Olympics, so far everything is great. Good job Putin and the Russian people.

And YES, I have been to Russia. Some problems there yes, some racism there yes but nice country and nice people. YES also, I have been to the US. Some problems there yes, some racism there yes but nice country and nice people.

afroengineer, you hit a nail on the head.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

What are these people doing there? Just leave already. It's the Olympics and it is no place for whatever they are. Go to the States and preach all you want ... they seem to be liking the spotlight a little too much.
