How is a man arrested for "buggery" in the US? The US does not have any term "buggery" in the judicial system. I think the article should be reworded to fit the situation more accurately. It happened in the US, not the UK.

This bothers me.. I think it's messed up what he did.. but 3 years is harsh. It's perfectly legal put race horses to sleep when they can no longer win, but it's illegal to make love to one. Was the horse in a position where it could not have escaped? Was it mutual?

Horses meet neither the P.O. limits of size or weight to be "mail". But I doubt the horse was male because of the name "Sugar" combined with the infections. If the horse objected its very likely. But the abuse of the horse started long before Vereen showed up. The degree to which horses are made obedient to people makes it difficult to determine if the horse was willing or not. And the strange behavior? I am sure a vaginal infection will do that.

I don't know exactly what the court concluded but his real crimes were trespassing and not cleaning up first, thus the infections. Its a joke that he was registered as a sex offender or that anyone cares about the sex. If the owners sold that old horse to the killers to be murdered and ground into dog food, no one would even check to see if tax on the profit was duly paid!

So while the animal sex does not bother me his abuse of the horse does, but that counts for the owners too, I have no doubt of their abuse.
