The South Korean government is a government of thugs and warmongers.

[over something as ambiguous as a "clear intention?" ] --- I guess if it's clear it's hard to be ambiguous. Why all the criticizm of this guy? He's the first South Korean to stand up for themselves and blow back rehtoric to the North.

South Korea should “immediately launch a strike” on the North if there is a clear intention of a pending nuclear attack

Makes sense to me. Hope my government would do the same.

When you are in a position of strength it doesn't make alot of sense talking of pre-emptive strikes especially when you are in the process of building something of mutual benefit.

-You would think SK is the weak one.

I support this guy. What's wrong with a pre-emptive strike if they know they are going to be attacked? It's not like he said we should attack pre-emptively when there's no reason to. SKorea is a conventional military power. NKorea claims to a nuclear one. NKorea's reason for going nuclear it total BS since they have a 1961 agreement that China will protect them from attack. NKorea "needs" a nuclear deterrent as much as Skorea or Japan does. Its all bluster but that's the low brow language that NKorea speaks and undertands. Hats off to the Lee Myung Bak administration for letting the NKoreans know that they can't continue to treat SKorea like fools.

yabits

What kind of idiot leader would endorse a preemptive attack over something as ambiguous as a "clear intention?"

You forget about the last administration. < :-)

South Korea should “immediately launch a strike” on the North if there is a clear intention of a pending nuclear attack, Defense Minister Kim Tae-young said at a seminar in Seoul. Kim made similar remarks in 2008 when he was chairman of South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff, prompting North Korea to threaten South Korea with destruction.

What a loose cannon. What kind of idiot leader would endorse a preemptive attack over something as ambiguous as a "clear intention?" It sounds as though this guy is instigating for a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Who's going to be a part of this preemptive strike? The US? B/S < :-)

Thats mild compared to what comes from the North. Best solution proposed by SuperLib!! Dump these losers on China. Let them use inferior Chinese products.

How to kill your economy, and endanger your population, in one stupid sentence. This fool should have his tongue cut out and fed to the dogs, and then be fed the dogs poop, after which his trap needs to be sewn shut. The Koreans new government are fools. America should remove our boys from harms way. The sunshine policy enabled Korea to prosper, wow, they make Kim Jung Ill look sane.

The solution is simple - give zero aid.

Tell that to China which shares a large border with North Korea. The influx of refugees would be overwhelming, not to mention the thorny political implications. There's always a danger of a shooting war when North and South Korea actually have exchanged fire via their Navy, but in reality the larger danger is to China if North Korea fails. That's why I say we dump the problem in their lap and let them handle it.

Someone gonna shut him up?

The solution is simple - give zero aid. Not bit and pieces and cut backs here and there. Cut ALL aid to NK and see how long they take to comply. I think this would be much better solution than war.

@ShonanMauNo2- You just figured that out? LMAO

The "if" resolves to be negative: North Korea does not have any plan to attack. Moreover, North Korea has recently proposed to replace the armistice with a peace treaty. America and South Korea have dismissed this call. Further, not long ago South Korea organized deliberate maritime clashes near the shores of North Korea. The intentions of the South do not seem peaceful.

And the North always says the same thing. Eat some kimchi together guys and stop the bickering.

Idiot... like this won't extremely enflame things and actually CAUSE threats!

besides, threats from the North come all the time... so as Kapuna asked, when it is clear?

"South Korea’s defense chief called Wednesday for a pre-emptive strike on North Korea if there is a clear indication the country is preparing a nuclear attack." When is the indication clear?.
