Tragic Hero.

Karma is very STRICT. Old Tariq lived by the sword, and well, will die almost by the sword, by the old rope. Good riddance! He is no real Christian either. He was just a slave a dog for Saddam.

Shame, he seemed like a decent fellow. I wonder what the real reasons are for his death sentence.

This does not sit right with me. He was the human face of a nasty regime, but he did his best to bridge the gap with the world. The Shiites will want to get their revenge now, I understand, but they might well do more good for future reconciliation with the Sunnis by showing leniency.

"he seemed like a decent fellow"

He was Saddam Hussein's foreign minister. How decent could he have been?

Actually this news is very sad and speaks so bad about the American led regime of Iraq, it is not a democracy at all...

So sorry that his death angers so many people. You'll just have to find a way to get over it and move on.

I agree with the majority sentiment here. What purpose does Aziz' death serve? Iraq seems to have been a better place before we "liberated" it. Sadam was a thug but no worse than many others we have supproted for convenience.

I don't think profiteering deserves death, but it is illegal. If those merchants were guilty, well many here would not complain.

As for the crime Aziz is sentenced to hang for, the article is not very clear about why they were targeted. If indeed they tried to assissinate Aziz, again, many here would call that justice.

I should hope that some might figure out by this yet another reason why the death penalty is wrong. In trying to figure out if executions related to Aziz were just, we hit snags, as the convicted are all dead. We hang Aziz, then next coup, they hang the people who hanged Aziz...and figuring out who was just is a big conundrum.

I find interesting how people kind of deplore Aziz hanging sentence. Still, the guy was part of Sadam regime. He knew what he was doing.

the supporters of Aziz here spewing pathetic sympathy:

Tragic Hero. Shame, he seemed like a decent fellow. he did his best to bridge the gap with the world.

hey:

conviction of taking part in a Saddam-led campaign that hunted and executed members of the Shiite Dawa Party,

When I saw the way they played around with Saddam at his hanging and how his head was pulled off, I began to rethink my position on capital punishment.

Not disputing what Tariq Aziz may have done, but perhaps life in a prison hospital might be better for a peaceful heal to the rift between the Sunni and Shiite sects, is all I would like to say.
