You make a good point. He may believe he is telling the truth, but that’s because to him, what’s right is that he does whatever he needs to to get his way. In that context he wouldn’t feel he has done anything wrong. But as you say, that context doesn’t place any relevance on ethics or legality in regards to what is right or wrong.
