Sound familiar?

lock India down, bathing in the river ganges isn't really helping at all

Great. Just like the Japanese Government is racing to share the vaccine in Japan! NOT!

WHO: India variant found in 44 countries.

A potentially worrisome variant of the coronavirus detected in India may spread more easily.

MAY?? Given the state of affairs there I' d say that's pretty foregone conclusion.

But the country is behind in doing the kind of testing needed to track it and understand it better.

Gee, where have we heard that before?

200 doctors and 500 nurse” volunteers needed urgently ... in India.

@Jijitsu

Simple because the original is covid-19 New Corona virus.

No one is calling these Variants UK virus, South Africa virus or India virus. They are calling the covid UK, SA, India variants. Note the word variant.

And no one is running around north america attacking British, South Africans, etc.. but are doing that to east and south east Asians because of the politicizing and the use of what you wrote.

But somehow we never call this virus itself as 'Wuhan Virus' or 'China virus' ..Wonder why are we so selective in giving names!!!!?

Scientifically speaking including the names of places is always wrong, but realistically speaking it is simply much more easy to stick to the correct name when there is only one option, variants are (incorrectly) being identified by the first place where they were identified precisely because they are many and their characteristics are not so easily differentiated.

It would help if people stopped engaging in partisan politics and blaming the right wing parties for these problems.

Yes, don't blame the people who actively spent the past 20 years doing their best to insist the issue didn't exist, and prevent anything from being done about it.

Because that makes sense.

Why shouldn't we point out how these people are the lesser human beings of society who wouldn't deserve to be urinated upon if they were on fire?

"Modi could not have done much better in a country with the scale of India"

Actually he could have done much better if he had not spent taxpayer's money on building a costly temple or the world's tallest statue or a new parliament building or a new palatial residence for himself. Leave all that aside, the amount of funds Modi spends on his IT brigade or on PR could have been used to ramp up India's underfunded healthcare system. But all those arguments are meaningless if your main agenda is retaining power on the plank of hatred and bigotry.

That is too easy. Fact is, we do not know that vaccines are the only way to deal with this,

Yes we do. They are the only long term way to deal with this.

especially as Big Pharma and Big Tech are suppressing information about therapeutics,

No they aren't. Also, therapeutics only help once you have Covid - something to avoid.

especially therapeutics that are cheap, generic (no profits!) and old like Ivermectin.

But don't stop transmission of the disease.

Dramatic photo taken through a torn, medical glove-box sleeve. (These isolators are used a protective barriers to separate medical personnel from infected patients.)

- “And now, the raging virus has infected many of the staff in the labs doing the work.” -

The conditions must be horrific and continue to worsen without replaced equipment.

India variant can poses threat to Japan because of Olympics.

Over half of firms in Japan want Olympics canceled or postponed.

Title is wrong, no mention of racing to do anythimg , article details the slow response,

Kinda strange ?? Every virus in history mutates away from humans and disappears like SAAR 1 did .

What makes this so adapting or renewing itself toward humans ?

Modi could not have done much better in a country with the scale of India

He could have done a lot better by not saying that 'We defeated Covid without vaccines' at the end of their first wave.

Bodies are filling the Gangies because not enough firewood to burn the bodies according to world media.

It would help if people stopped engaging in partisan politics and blaming the right wing parties for these problems. Most of the news outlets writing about Modi losing elections in the past couple of months forget that it wasn't left wing parties that picked up the seats, but mostly centrist regional parties (and regional right wing parties) that picked them up. Modi could not have done much better in a country with the scale of India - the variant is causing problem even in Seychells where they have the highest two-does-vaccination rate in the world.

Actually he could have done much better if he had not spent taxpayer's money on building a costly temple or the world's tallest statue or a new parliament building or a new palatial residence for himself.

....you can complain about that, but none of that would have made a difference in a country the size of India.

> Leave all that aside, the amount of funds Modi spends on his IT brigade or on PR could have been used to ramp up India's underfunded healthcare system.

....and again none of this would make a dent in Indias healthcare system, which is not something that can be turned around in a short time,

And apart from that, if you look at Corona death rates across the globe, you see no correlation between the funding of the healthcare system at all. Some of the most generous systems have the highest rates and some of places with almost no system have the lowest. It is just not that simple.

If you let the virus run amok then variants will emerge. India has already had the dubious honor of having a variant named after it, and already there were reports of another 'N440K strain (B.1.36)' being reported from the southern parts of the country.

Ask the WHO that question. The WHO bosses were very quick to come up with a politically correct name this time but there has been no effort to rename Japanese Encephalitis, MERS, West Nile virus.

Bulls eye. CCP wolf warrior diplomacy and money works.

Check who in the WHO leadership is on the CCP payroll. Yep, just the independent organization that we should fund and follow sheepishly.

He could have done a lot better by not saying that 'We defeated Covid without vaccines' at the end of their first wave.

We can all take small quote snippets out of context. That is too easy. Fact is, we do not know that vaccines are the only way to deal with this, especially as Big Pharma and Big Tech are suppressing information about therapeutics, especially therapeutics that are cheap, generic (no profits!) and old like Ivermectin.

In India, now the medical community is looking at Ivermectin again (much to the annoyance of Western Big pharma) and starting to get results.
