That was eight years ago, before Brexit. Current polling suggests a majority of Scots now favor independence.

And of course one of those two is not a country or a nation but six counties stolen from Ireland.
Why is England so consistently insistent on making enemies out of potential friends?

Then it must grieve you to know that one of the major reasons cited by people who voted against independence was that Scotland would have to reapply to join the EU. They voted to stay not because they had love for the UK, but because doing so would mean they could remain in the EU.
It’ll be interesting to see how many people who once voted to stay will now be voting to leave.
And hey, if the nationalists don’t get the results they want, they can just unilaterally alter the deal without it any consideration for the other side. We can call it the Boris Strategy.

England needs to hold a referendum on independence from the UK as well. We can leave Johnson mismanaging what's left.

And perhaps wondering whether Nicola Sturgeon is a Special Circumstances agent.
The world could definitely do with a few at this juncture.

And perhaps wondering whether Nicola Sturgeon is a Special Circumstances agent. Boris should watch out.

There is no problem. The majority of Scots do not want independence. They voted to stay British 8 years ago and will do so again in about 20 years' time. The ScotNats are collapsing and won't even be around then. Long live the awesome foursome!

Every country seems to have an ethnicity problem of its own domestically. The UK is no exception. So is China, Russia, the U.S. and Japan.
We're closely watching how the Scottish issue will develop.

Scotland's government on Tuesday drew the battle lines for a historic tussle with London as it announced plans to hold a second independence referendum on October 19, 2023.
Noted champion of Scottish Independence Iain Banks would be smiling down from the Sublime or a Cultural Orbital.
