Which one more concern, the fire or looters?

That will never happen sakurasuki
I view this clip on the news of a relief centre. People were selective going through the goods tossing aside what they did not like making a complete mess The deposable nappies ( Diapers ) were all neatly pack on pallets turn into a 3 meter high mountain of mess. The relief worker will have close down the centre to repack to make some sense and order and having the same happen again. It like everyone for themselves as long as they got what they needed. Where is the cohesion and thinking of others, instead of me first attitude. Only in the USA you would see this display of me first and stuff the rest. This same display of self centred attitude happen in New Orleans.

So just another show on how US society really act during natural disaster, while Katrina it's caused by flood, this one by fire, everyone for themselves.

Oprah Winfrey and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson will buy up LA like they did in Hawaii.

@BeerDeliveryGuy--also that Ellison guy who owns an entire inhabited island. But Oprah and the Rock owned their properties before the Lahaina fires. Any proof that they increased their land holdings in Lahaina since the fire? They were actually charitable donors, were they not?

BOTH, but looters you just shoot on the spot, as for fire you have to negotiate.

It is looking like the Eaton and Hurst fires were started by problems with So Cal Edison high voltage power lines.

I’m fairly certain they already own properties in LA as well. But that is beyond the point.
Since JT doesn’t allow hotlinking, you’ll have to Google it yourself, but there are multiple sources that confirm Oprah and Johnson bought out destroyed properties at barrel bottom prices and gentrified entire communities; effectively shutting out the original residents.
Oprah and the Rock like to cultivate their charitable “people’s hero” image, but in reality are far from it.
All those handouts “you get a car! You get a car!” on the Oprah show, all tax deductible gifts that most of the recipients are forced to sell anyways because they can’t afford the gift tax and property taxes.
Dwayne Johnson was known to bully other wrestlers and often go off script when the playbook didn’t favor him. During the Fast and Furious series, he sullied the legacy of the deceased Paul Walker to the point that Vin Diesel and Jason Statham refused to speak with him off screen. Then he tried to play it off as Statham and Diesel being “Candy ass divas.” (His own words)

Having grown up a few miles from the Hurst Fire and having seen a lot of fires on those very same mountains I can tell you that any time the Santa Ana's blow you get brush fires. The winds funnel down through that canyon, get compressed and heat up, dry out and blow out of there at 80 mph or more. Every fall those winds would blow the shingles off our roof and knock the TV antenna over (this was the 1960s and 70s before cable), knock over patio furniture and blow garbage cans all over. Fires are part of the ecology. The chaparral and scrub oak that grow on those mountains drop seeds that sit in the ground for as much as 30 years dormant. The seeds need the heat of a fire to germinate. That fire clears out the old growth and germinates the seeds so new plants can grow in their place.
