Search for Malaysia Airlines plane widens as frustrations grow

If it is possible for airlines to lose luggage, then why not an entire plane.

There is a store in Alabama that sells personal items out of unclaimed luggage.

Now there are reports that smartphones of passengers are still active, which would be impossible if they were >disintegrated or under water. At this point, all we can do is speculate. The tinfoil hats are having a field day with this one, that is for sure...

Believe my, I have a bunch of coworkers that are already cranking that wheel and think it's some government plot and..blah, blah, blah... I told these people in all seriousness, if they believe that, please don't talk to and check yourselves in. Some people are just amazing and will go to NO length to spread unsubstantiated facts and pass it off as truthful or real and dismissing any rational logic. I just don't have time for idiots and their conspiracy theories.

"Soon?" Well With all that technology out there, 40 ships, over 30 planes, satellites, smart phone apps, radars videos, NSA technology, scientists, chemists, submarines... Seems like after 3 days with all that technology, they're still coming up empty handed and seem no closer to finding out what happened to the plane.

Instead of saying that, it would be better to just hope, they find out what's going on ASAP. Because so far, technology ain't helping all that much.

.....and reports from Chinese relatives saying the cell phones are receiving signal when called. That suggest land not submerged unless an air pocket in the cabin.

DigitalGlobe owns and operates five private satellites. The images taken from their positions about 400 miles above the earth, are so precise, a clear picture of a home plate on a baseball field can clearly be captured.

Now it is reported that it was detected by military radar over west malaysia with its transponder turned off. It may have been hijacked and flown to indonesia or be in the water over the malacca strait between west malaysia and sumatra. In the case of the latter, the beacons would have been activated though right?

Well it is weird they do know the exact location and coordinates of when and where they lost contact , the plane would not have been able to get far without thrust ( Power ) so the search should be focused in a radius near that vicinity, submersible craft, sonar etc should show if anything is on the ocean floor.

If it was a hijacking and the plane was taken over suddenly without any emergency being broadcast then it could be anywhere with in the fuel range. I did hear a report at one stage that there was muffled voices heard over the radio just prior to it disappearing.

What ever the outcome I hope this mystery is solved very soon and there is still hope the passengers and crew are found safe, perhaps a hijacking is the best outcome if everyone has a chance of surviving.

If my dream is real, seems the pilot steered hard right and landed in water around Chittagong! I pray the survivors I saw are real! God bless all!

the blackboxes are in the plane so if they knew where they were then they could locate the plane. the fact that they can't be detected means that they are most likely buried deep in the water. the families are praying for divine intervention which shows exactly how hopeless the situation is. instead of turning to the idea of god why don't people try to embrace science which is the only way that we will ever learn what happened to the plane and passengers. facts and evidence, not smoke and mirrors.

This is still in the Search and Rescue phase, they will not waste time on or resources on anything that would not lead to rescuing survivors. They are only focusing on scenarios, no matter how unlikely, which would result in survivors, until there is no hope. Then they will start the recovery effort.

@AFP, I see what you did there and it was in poor taste. There are probably 100 different words that would have been better than to bring up the image of being consumed by flames.

All sorts of stories emerging from missile strikes, N Korean agents, terrorists to alien abductions, the real story will be extremely interesting and revealing no matter what it turns out to be.

I wonder why they aren't going to the black box for information which can practically withstand any impact and transmits location information for 30 days even when submerged in the ocean. You'd think they'd go to that but...

They are looking for the 2 blackboxes, but the "ping" only travels tens of miles underwater, assuming it's not totally obstructed by debris or soil.

Sometimes it better not to know the truth. There are problems with more than two of the passports. 2 we know were stolen. But others were used that were never stolen. That means someone was able to make a legal passport duplicate. BTW< family members had reported that they were still able to call the missing peoples cell phones without a DNS meaning that for a while the phones were still operational, turned on, intact, and no one on the other end answering. U.S. reported that an imagery search determined no explosions in the air in that area. So... planes don't disintegrate at 35k. the United States extensively reviewed imagery taken by spy satellites for evidence of a mid-air explosion, but saw none,. Both mystery persons look like footballer named Balotelli... so, the guy who purchased the tickets for the two fake passports was an Iranian known as Mr Ali.
