Unless we do something about this, my children are going to grow up in a jungle, the jungle being a racial jungle with tensions having built so high that it is going to explode at some point."

definitely racist, right?

why do few to any actual racist quotes exist against Trump, just narratives or stories?

-1 ( +6 / -7 )

Were are guys like Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, and Louis Farrakhan ? They are totally racists against whites. Trump is definitely not racist.

-1 ( +5 / -6 )

racist?

Certainly, you could easily interpret it that way. I think woefully tone-deaf and ignorant of the history of race in the US and how to address its legacy. That's why I think Biden was a lousy pick, and it Trump's best shot at victory.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

In response to a question on the legacy of slavery, “We bring social workers into homes of parents to help them deal with how to raise their children. It’s not that they don’t want to help, they don’t want — they don’t know quite what to do.”

racist?

-2 ( +4 / -6 )

I don’t feel responsible for the sins of my father and grandfather. I feel responsible for what the situation is today, for the sins of my own generation, and I’ll be damned if I feel responsible to pay for what happened 300 years ago.”

racist?

0 ( +5 / -5 )

Sorry, I meant 2009.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

I don't think Trump is a racist per se. He is a master manipulator and a demagogue who will do or say things that he can work to his advantage, whether it be political or financial. Sometimes his efforts fall flat. I'm betting that come this November, his order to move the U.S. embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem will convince about 37 more Jews to vote for him than did in 2016.

Obama in 2008:

"Jerusalem will remain the capital of Israel, and it must remain undivided."

-1 ( +5 / -6 )

You have no idea why someone would retweet dodgy racist videos? None at all? You don’t care about people doing this?

No.

Ok, Bass. You think retweeting dodgy racist material is fine, even when the President of the US does it.

You have a very different view of decent behaviour and morality than I.

Fair enough.

1 ( +6 / -5 )

The word “racist” has simply evolved into a liberal term to describe someone who says or does something liberals don’t like. Or someone who has a differing opinion about anything.

-2 ( +5 / -7 )

Before Trump came along, no one gave a darn about Twitter (including myself)

But your Twitter account opened in 2010?

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

Liberals not even self aware enough to know they been making racist comments here while trying to call others racists.

“lets call a spade a spade”

“token black guy Ben Carson”

-4 ( +4 / -8 )

Before Trump came along, no one gave a darn about Twitter (including myself)

Yes, Trump made it popular because he's a borderline illiterate who talks like a 5 year old, so it's the perfect platform to spew his rubbish. And the Twitter CEO is greedy corporate scum bag who is relishing in the fact that King Joffrey is using his site so that he can make money off of his dysfunctional leadership.

Zuckerberg is a Trump lap dog.

Absolutely not. Where did you get that from?

From CBSNEWS

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg isn't budging over his refusal to take action on inflammatory posts by President Donald Trump that spread misinformation about voting by mail and, many said, encouraged violence against protesters. Zuckerberg's critics, however, are multiplying.

Some employees have publicly quit over the issue and civil-rights leaders who met with him Monday night denounced Zuckerberg's explanation for choosing to leave Trump's posts alone as "incomprehensible." Criticism has been mounting after Mr. Trump's social media posts about protests in Minneapolis and across the country in the wake of George Floyd's death became increasingly aggressive.

In other words, Zuckerberg is more happy to see his own employees quit, rather than taking down Trumps comments that clearly violates his own company's policies. Sounds like a lap dog to me.

You have no idea why someone would retweet dodgy racist videos? None at all? You don’t care about people doing this?

No.

Don’t Trump supporters constantly moan about fake news?

Yes, but the fake news swooned and protected Obama, big difference.

Talk about hypocrisy and dodging the subject. This is ridiculous

I didn’t dodge, relax, Jim.

-8 ( +1 / -9 )

@SuperLib

I guess that means Trump supports them, too.

Yes! Exactly! Of course he does... that is what a good president does. He supports ALL Americans and hopes that ALL succeed!

0 ( +4 / -4 )

You cannot complain about the situation if you are part of the problem.

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

Do you have any idea why anyone, liberal or conservative, would retweet dodgy videos from a racist organization?

I don’t know and I never lose sleep thinking about it, because people are allowed to write, post and retweet whatever they want.

You have no idea why someone would retweet dodgy racist videos? None at all? You don’t care about people doing this?

And BTW, Robert E. Lee was NOT a hero. He was a traitor to the country, and was LITERALLY anti-American.

I disagree, he was a proud American to millions of people that live in the south, I don’t support his beliefs but from that century and in that timeframe he did what he thought was right.

It doesn't get any more anti-American as that. He lost the war, and died in disgrace.

Is that what they told you in school?

To want to honor someone like that is a whole other level of racist.

So now half of the South are racists? Woooow! Unbelievable! Liberals are really diving off the deep end.

-2 ( +6 / -8 )

You are dodging it.

Never, not my style.

I’ll put it another way:

Do you have any idea why anyone, liberal or conservative, would retweet dodgy videos from a racist organization?

I don’t know and I never lose sleep thinking about it, because people are allowed to write, post and retweet whatever they want.

-4 ( +4 / -8 )

So did you read the original transcript of the "good people" hoax?

You mean this word salad? Yes I did, and he said "fine" which is a synonym for "good"..different word same meaning. I read the whole transcript, and he meant what he said. He believes that there are "fine" neo nazis.

*"Excuse me, excuse me. They didn’t put themselves -- and you had some very bad people in that group, but you also had people that were very fine people, on both sides. You had people in that group. Excuse me, excuse me. I saw the same pictures as you did. You had people in that group that were there to protest the taking down of, to them, a very, very important statue and the renaming of a park from Robert E. Lee to another name.*

And BTW, Robert E. Lee was NOT a hero. He was a traitor to the country, and was LITERALLY anti-American. It doesn't get any more anti-American as that. He lost the war, and died in disgrace. To want to honor someone like that is a whole other level of racist.

If you haven't noticed, Twitter never bans Trump.

Before Trump came along, no one gave a darn about Twitter (including myself)

If I had said half things he said on Twitter, I would have not only been banned, but probably arrested for inciting violence.....Not exactly a liberal thing to condone rants of violence

James Woods got banned for a lot less and yet, That crazy Kathy Griffin is still allowed to post junk, why?

Zuckerberg is a Trump lap dog.

Absolutely not. Where did you get that from?

I don't even know how you could possibly categorize him as a lib. Even his top engineer recently quit because of he was sick of seeing Zuckerberg humping Trump's leg.

Zuckerberg is nowhere anywhere close to being a conservative.

Sundar Pichai (google CEO) apparently doesn't have any political leanings but has been very cozy with Trump lately.

Yeah, sure. ROFL!

-5 ( +3 / -8 )

LOL! President Obama improved the economy more than trump ever did

LOL! The unemployment rate for black Americans fell to 5.4 percent in October, the lowest level since the government first started recording employment data in 1972.

The jobless rate in America reached a 50-year low in April 2019.

Took awhile to find this as Google tries to hide these inconvenient facts:

@WilliB

I don´t know what is supposed to mean.

Of course, you don't! Most trump supporters don't know what hypocrisy or irony means!

0 ( +4 / -4 )

I can’t get an answer to this. I can understand Trump supporters dodging this, but it isn’t a good faith way to discuss the idea of Trump as a racist.

No one is dodging it’s just liberals want to jump on conservatives for doing the same thing, pathetic to be honest.

You are dodging it. I’ll put it another way:

Do you have any idea why anyone, liberal or conservative, would retweet dodgy videos from a racist organization?

2 ( +4 / -2 )

Silvafan:

LOL! So trump can make the swamp into his own image!

I don´t know what is supposed to mean. Trump promised stop the stupid international wars, the endless globalization, and open-ended cheap labor immigration. All of which is in the interest of the corrupt globalist elite and the so-called military-industrial complex, i.e. the swamp. And thus of the neocons and neolibs.... there really is no difference between them. If the choice in your last election had been Bush or Clinton, it would have been no choice. It would have been corrupt neocon vs corrupt neolib.

Trump was the outsider who promised to clean up this stable. The American Brexit. THAT is what attracts Trump voters and repels neocons like Billy Crystol.

Again, if you do not understand that you understand nothing. And your fake media is not helping you.

-4 ( +2 / -6 )

@Black

this "fine people" thing is like "Russia collusion" and "inject Clorox" and "Trumps a (racist/sexist/any other -ist).

Liberals are just going to keep saying these indefinitely, knowing they are false but simply not caring.

Its their way of thinking they are good at "trolling", or something.

Like the idiot-n-chief on twitter?

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

@WilliB

Numan:

HA!!!

So did you read the original transcript of the "good people" hoax? Do you apologize for spreading it and complain to your fake media for spreading it?

I think anyone who lies about trump should apologize after trump apologizes for all of his lies which will take a life time!

How did the Pres. Obama birth certificate, Scarborough murder, or the coronavirus working out for trump?

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

To be fair, democratic America is divided in half by slavery states and non slavery states. Red and Blue. I’m in no way protecting trump, but in a true democracy, half the nation has a constitutional right to be racist.

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

@WilliB

I know 3 of these. They are neocons, representing exactly the swamp that Trump promised to drain. Even without your article, I could have told you they are Trump haters. No doubt the same goes for the 4th.

Obviously, you completely misunderstand what attracts people to Trumps platform. He is NOT just another neocon, following in the stinking footsteps of Bush or McCain. If you do not understand that, you understand nothing.

The Justice Department sued his company ― twice ― for not renting to black people

He refused to immediately condemn the white supremacists who advocated for him

Debunked and denounced them so many times, but the msm has a very short memory when it comes to facts and fairness.

He questioned whether President Barack Obama was born in the United States

Blame Tony Podesta For starting that crap.

He treats racial groups as monoliths

Liberals treat Whites as monoliths

He trashed Native Americans, too

He encouraged the mob anger that resulted in the wrongful imprisonment of the Central Park Five

No wait a minute, that’s not true, look at the Covington five, the media had to walk back there reporting when they said that these kids were saying racist things to the Native Americans with the fact it was the other way around, that’s the reason why they filed a lawsuit.

He condoned the beating of a Black Lives Matter protester

BLM condone to being a police officers, but if that’s not screwed up I don’t know what it is, all police officers or bad? All police officers are racists? No who again is making inflammatory biased and racist remarks? Starts with a “L”

He stereotyped Jews and shared an anti-Semitic image created by white supremacists

Liberal stereotype Trump all the time, and if he were a racist he would not have moved the US Embassy in Jerusalem, he would have never allowed his daughter to marry someone of the Jewish faith

He treats African-American supporters as tokens to dispel the idea he is racist

Calling someone an “uncle Tom” is a racist trope.

Yep, won't click any of them. PT Barnum said something that probably applies to those who do fund them with their clicks, and actually believe what those in the fringe, kook media say.

Having said that, I fully support their rights and others in the free, for-profit media to publish their opinions, conspiracy theories and sometimes just plain whack 'intentional misinformations'. Assuming of course they don't break laws.

I live in Japan half of the year, I guess by the stand it’s all Japanese or racist, because I have people ask me all the time where I’m from and if I tell them I’m from America, they asked me OK where are you really from

He took more than 48 hours to denounce the white supremacist violence in Charlottesville, Virginia

And? Obama Said, why people need to cling to the guns in religion, no that’s not a flamethrower right there...

Some of his top advisers and Cabinet picks have histories of prejudice (Steve Bannon, Michael Flynn, Jeff Sessions, etc)

Which were all debunked.

*He launched a travel ban targeting *Muslims

Trump sucks at being a racist. The unemployment rates for African Americans, Hispanic Americans, Asian Americans, veterans, individuals with disabilities, and those without a high school diploma have all reached record lows under President Trump. Not to mention the prison reform act he signed the greatly benefited blacks.

Poverty rates for African Americans and Hispanic Americans have reached record lows.

-4 ( +3 / -7 )

But when Trump says something, even when he clarifies his statement, he is a horrible racist?

He’s extremely inarticulate and I suppose you could argue this why he is misunderstood.

What I still don’t get is why he retweeted dodgy material from a racist organization in the UK and earned a rebuke from the then UK PM for giving that very unpleasant organization publicity. I don’t get how that can be misunderstood.

Maybe it’s better to judge actions rather than words with someone who has such a poor grasp of the language.

4 ( +7 / -3 )

Racist means a person who believes in the inherent inferiority of one race of mankind to another, and who acts and speaks in that belief.

What is the evidence that Trump believes and does this?

OMFG, I can't believe people like you (people who really believe that Trump is not a racist) still exist

Ready? Here we go:

Yubaru - You are obviously too young or unaware of where that line originated from, and the meaning behind it.

It means that looters will be shot for looting. Looters would be shot for breaking into stores, and businesses, and police stations, in order to steal the contents and/or burning the building. Looting is illegal.

Thanks to antifa gun sales in American inner cities is going through the roof.

Wow, antifa are buying a lot of guns? Well, if the police are going to beat you, shoot at you and use chemical weapons on you for peacefully protesting, arming yourself against such a militarized government threat makes sense.

-1 ( +5 / -6 )

Thanks to antifa gun sales in American inner cities is going through the roof.

I'm going to assume this statement can be verified, that there's actual evidence of who's buying weapons - to further enrich the already filthy rich guns and ammo industries - that it's not once again a far rightist 'intentionally misinforming' because they cannot defend their position.

-1 ( +5 / -6 )

This says more about Twitter users than about Trump.

As someone who's never used Twitter I can't say what its users might be like. The bits I do know about it suggest it's a place some people go to kvetch without having to use full sentences.

But why does Trump rely so heavily on Twitter. Why haven't he and his fellow 'elite' come up with their own version. And why is Trump once again using the WH to take on a private sector business.

-2 ( +5 / -7 )

Thanks to antifa gun sales in American inner cities is going through the roof.

-3 ( +7 / -10 )

The American president Donald Trump is a racist. Truth.

your truth?

4 ( +9 / -5 )

.....followed by a clarification that he was talking about the monument debate and not about the neonazis.

Either our beloved president, trump is not very smart and doesn't understand words since he has to come out with an explanation for everything he spouts, or simply, he is a racist .

When the looting starts, the shooting starts!

Or maybe his brain and mouth are not in sync!!!

-5 ( +3 / -8 )

Sounds as if there is a concerted effort to manipulate the search algorithms.

Deep state algorithms! Even the laws of mathematics are a leftist plot!

Twitter should put a Fact Check next to Trump's 'racist' search result. Unfortunately that would only confirm that the evidence of his racism has been around for about 50 years. But I don't know why his fans are so upset about him being racist, since that's obviously why you voted for him.

1 ( +7 / -6 )

This says more about Twitter users than about Trump.

1 ( +7 / -6 )

sunfunbun:

Racist means a person who believes in the inherent inferiority of one race of mankind to another, and who acts and speaks in that belief.

> What is the evidence that Trump believes and does this?

"When the looting starts, the shooting starts!" nuff said!

the fake media tries to put lipstick on this pig.

Curious what Colonel Lang sic semper, Qanon, Breitbart, RT, infowars, Hannity, Limbaugh and others in the fringe, kook media are saying. Please inform: I won't click to make them and their 'elite' backers richer.

When will the Big Tech, media, secular liberal left and Democratic party crowd quit the failed race baiting (like this article), identity politics that spectacularly failed in 2016? People are getting absolutely sick of it and see through the hypocrisy. They need to stick to emphasizing workable policies that benefit the common person such as increased minimum wage, health care for all, and sound economic policies.

The Democratic Party used to be the party of the working class, but unfortunately it has devolved into a coastal elitist, out of touch with middle America corrupt cabal of hypocrites. As evidenced by this lying article.

Analysts said the news suggests Trump opponents, more than critics of any other Twitter account, have been labeling him as racist, although the social media giant itself did not confirm this was the case.

...Twitter offered little in the way of explanation, pointing out only that its search algorithms may reflect what is happening on the platform.

...Greg Sterling, a contributing editor at the website Search Engine Land, said the result suggests that "so many people are using the words 'racist' or 'racism' to respond to or describe Donald Trump, or there's a concerted effort to associate Trump's account with those terms."

Progressives, Democrats, the uber biased media spokesmodels such as CNN, and the usual internet trolls have made the word "racist" their go to word-of-the-day. Anyone they disagree with must be called a racist. Anyone who doesn't follow the usual hive-minded rants of (insert the name of any person, or group, with a different viewpoint here) is a racist. Acts of actual racism is getting lost in all of the smoke, politics, and mud-slinging.

Reading the Olivier Douliery article, I've noticed that Twitter "itself did not confirm this was the case", and that Twitter "offered little in the way of explanation", and "there's a concerted effort to associate Trump's account with those terms". Sounds as if there is a concerted effort to manipulate the search algorithms.

Searching 'racist' on Twitter brings up Trump as top result...

As does "imbecile", "serial liar", and "STD"...

liberals are pinning all their Biden election hopes on "Trump is a racist".

Extreme over-simplification. Biden voters still have the virus death counts, the smashed economy that might see some bounce back before November, the riots, and though I'm no fan of Biden for me there will always be Trump continuing to allow a foreign state to meddle in US affairs, among so many other issues that can be used against Trump. NB I fully acknowledge the US meddles, invades and worse too. But until someone can show Russia did not meddle, that Russia was innocent of charges it meddled (I'm sure even those from Cornbelt-stan are aware courts can find people innocent of charges levied against them) I'll continue to believe Russia did meddle. To help Trump.

John B:

I once was a left-leaning moderate—didn't even vote in the 2016 election. But the last 3.5 years have pushed me to the right. My family and friends are the same. We will all be voting for Trump and Republican straight ticket. Not sure I will ever be able to vote for a dem as long as they remain so intellectually dishonest.

Check out Dr. Karlyn Borysenko... she vlogs about exactly this.

First of all, I said: WITHOUT LIBERAL COMMENTARY.

And, once again, you demonstrated the intellectual dishonesty of the left. The "on many sides" comment, for example, is an absolute, bold-faced lie. Did you ever hear what Trump actually said instead of the edited versions from MSM?

LOL! You mean the racial discrimination case the trumps lost against the government brought to you by the FBI?

That he lost?! What a joke!

"Well, there were cases brought against various companies, but the point here is that Trump has said in the debate — and he also told me when I interviewed him at Trump Tower earlier this year — that this was part of one massive suit." Kranish says, "And in fact, this very specifically is a case that charges Donald Trump, Fred Trump and their company of race bias in housing rentals. ... It was one of the largest cases of the time. ...

"It was a suit that was directly against them, and it is one that Donald Trump to this day clearly is upset about."

Oh my...........

The FBI released hundreds of pages related to a 1970s housing discrimination lawsuit against Trump

The result, reported by the British news outlet The Independent and verified by AFP, highlights the intense discord around the president.

No, it highlights the blatant election interference by Big Tech and why the social media giants should have their 230 privileges taken away if they continue this censorship.

But even while reporting on this, the fake media tries to put lipstick on this pig.

ok, so liberals are pinning all their Biden election hopes on "Trump is a racist". Good luck with that.

-8 ( +10 / -18 )

What do you know? That Trump is a racist? Give me one, specific piece of evidence that shows he is what you claim he is.

Its like asking for proof that the Sun exists, it is out there you just need to accept it!!!

2 ( +12 / -10 )

What is being said is that it is a lot less of a problem than the left wants it to be.

That's one way of minimizing the problem of racism, saying it's 'the left' that says racism is a problem. I've heard racism dismissed by the far right all my life. And they persist in doing so. And the reality that Black people are being murdered by police, yet the far right continue to say things are better - than when? Jim Crow days? separate but equal days? slavery? - says the far right won't acknowledge racism remains a problem. Racism is tearing the country apart. And y'all are being aided by 'foreigners' throwing fuel on fires and say that's OK too.

@sunfunbun

I'll tell you what I told Silvafan:

The "on many sides" comment is an absolute, bold-faced lie. Did you ever hear what Trump actually said instead of the edited versions from MSM?

"But you also had people that were very fine people, on both sides. You had people in that group -- excuse me, excuse me -- I saw the same pictures as you did. You had people in that group that were there to protest the taking down of, to them, a very, very important statue and the renaming of a park from Robert E. Lee to another name . . . And you had people, and I’m not talking about the neo-Nazis and the white nationalists, because they should be condemned totally. But you had many people in that group other than neo-Nazis and white nationalists. OK?"

He unequivocally condemns Nazi supremacists, doesn't he?

-7 ( +10 / -17 )

That Trump is a racist? Give me one, specific piece of evidence that shows he is what you claim he is

If someone says the nazi supremacist rally in Charlottesville which killed a person due to racism followed by Trump's words that, 'there were fine people on both sides' can't see the racism, they are blind to what many people hear ubiquitously from this president.

He is a racist, absolutely.

There are a number of people who ignorant to what racism is likely due to a lack of empathy, care and respect for people different than themselves and understanding. Try harder to grasp those concepts.

Why can Biden and Clinton make blatantly racist statements that are NOT taken out of context and it is called "jest." But when Trump says something, even when he clarifies his statement, he is a horrible racist?

Be better. Be honest. And maybe your party won't lose more voters like me.

-2 ( +10 / -12 )

I dont get why anyone would be surprised by this! He is a racist, and his mantra of "Make America Great Again" is totally focused on the "white" population of American that is deathly afraid of becoming the minority in the USA.

It's a fact that people of color will out number whites in the US in less than a generation, and those "whites", just like the people in the apartheid of South Africa, will do whatever it can to keep themselves in power.

Perhaps to those who want to dismiss the reality that racism persists and want to do nothing about it.

That's right... attempt to delegitimize an opinion you don't like by making up falsehoods and conflating the issue. No one is saying racism does not exist. What is being said is that it is a lot less of a problem than the left wants it to be. You want the wound to heal, then STOP PICKING AT IT! It'd be much easier to take all this outrage against racism and "racial injustice" seriously if the outrage was equally distributed in all cases and not always so obviously politically motivated. Case in point:

https://edition.cnn.com/2019/08/02/us/dallas-police-body-cam-footage-captures-death/index.html

Did you hear about that? I bet not. Why not? Because Timpa is white, so it doesn't align with the narrative the left wants told.

.........Trump is a racist? Give me one, specific piece of evidence that shows he is what you claim he is. None of this conjecture or liberal commentary... an actual instance where Trump demonstrated unequivocal racism. Just one.

Trump is certainly uncouth; he is not the most articulate and oftentimes rather crass. But the "racism" accusation is just tiresome. It is what the left does whenever they don't like someone and their ideas and, in fact, hurts your cause.

I once was a left-leaning moderate—didn't even vote in the 2016 election. But the last 3.5 years have pushed me to the right. My family and friends are the same. Exactly. The Trump/conservative movement is not without its dishonest people, but the big tech, media, secular liberal crowd have become so full of lies and corruption it's breathtaking. I believe that many Americans, like you, are becoming so sick of them that the Dems are headed for a crushing defeat in November.

Google Algorithms work really well!!

Twitter - not Google. Search for "muslim president" on Google, and Obama shows up prominently. Searched for "best president" and the top news stories were all about Trump. Means nothing. "Racist" is just the pejorative du jour. Has no meaning anymore thanks to its overuse.

The American president Donald Trump is a racist. Truth.

also Twitter:

We are NOT attempting to address all misinformation. Instead, we prioritize based on the highest potential for harm, focusing on manipulated media, civic integrity, and COVID-19. Likelihood, severity and type of potential harm — along with reach and scale — factor into this.

So in other words, excuses for political bias when they address one thing but not another.

So what does all of this mean for people who want to, well, "call a spade a spade"? I urge caution. Mieder concludes his case study with the argument that "to call a spade a spade" should be retired from modern usage:
