Hah!

Trump supporters were so quick to try and push the narrative that this was an assassination attempt arranged by the democratic party. Turns out the man, Austyn Crites:

1) Didn't have a gun and wasn't attacking Trump,

2) has been a registered Republican for 11 years,

3) and was holding a sign saying, "Republicans against Trump", which caused him to be attacked by other Trump supporters at the rally.

So to recap: Trump supporters want you to believe that Hillary hates Trump so much she'd try to orchestrate his assassination. The truth is rather that some Trump supporters utterly flipped out upon seeing a Republican holding a sign and then a false claim that he had a gun was invented in order to get the Secret Service to help silence him.

Just as I suspected - group panic and no actual assassination attempt.

That picture will probably be a nightly occurrence if he gets elected President.

@katsu78. As much as I see Trump as being unfit I have heard or read about no such claims by his supporters. Can you provide links?

You are right. There was no gun and this was an anti Trump republican

With all the violence directed toward Trump supporters I can see why they are on edge

What's really scary is Trump may win

The guy turned out to have a protest sign. Here's his quote from an article on Sky News.

"I just came with a sign, I literally had one sign that said 'Republicans against Trump'."

No gun but, on the other hand, I can imagine how a "Republicans against Trump" sign could be considered almost the same as a gun by some Trump supporters.

Here is a longer video from a different camera of the same incident. At about 0:44 seconds into the video you can see a guy, wearing a black cap with white print on it, running away. At about the 1:00 minute mark you can see several people's heads snap around looking back in the direction he went.

Yelling “He’s got a gun!” if the guy was in on it is actually a crime, possibly a felony. He’s inciting a riot (literally falsely shouting fire in a crowded theater).

Am with Tokyo engr, can't blame secret service for over reacting. Considering the current political context these guys must be on edge.

Plus we know they are nutjobs out there who could target DT or HC. Hope all goes smoothly till Wednesday.

Secret Service protection is among the "free stuff" Trump gets, thanks to real taxpayers like me. The air-traffic controllers helping him get back to New York tonight are more 'free stuff." You can practically hear Trump slurping at the public trough. I'm tired of carrying the deadbeat.

Yelling “He’s got a gun!” if the guy was in on it is actually a crime, possibly a felony.

I don't understand your reasoning, Lizz. Trump is the titular head of the Republican Party, which is well-known for its support of Second Amendment rights. Even if the protester did have a gun, wouldn't it have been within his rights to possess it up to and until he used it illegally? Or are you saying that separate rules exist for those who make the rules that protect only themselves from the results of their own decisions?

I saw Trump should welcome with open arms any gun bearer who approaches his stage. Anything else would be hypocritical.

4 ( +7 / -3 )

NRA is probably disappointed he didn't have a gun, after all this is the narrative the republicans are trying to drive: more guns for more people in more places. But I see, many republicans now want to blame the democrats... staggering, just staggering.

The secret service did a good job though.

'Republicans Against Trump' may well be the second largest group after Republicans For Trump! Another reason he's going to lose badly on Tuesday. Can't wait to hear his concession speech (even though it might not be until the year 2030 after he loses his final appeal!).

" was holding a sign saying, "Republicans against Trump",

Idiots. As if Hillary Above the Law Clinton would be better.

"Another reason he's going to lose badly on Tuesday."

Not according to the LA Times.

STOP PRESS:

Secret Service misheard: "He's got a brain!"

Lethal at a Trump rally.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

@Sense - Great remark. Kudos to the Secret Service for their reaction.. Better safe than sorry, even in this case. Would hate to see anything happen. GO HILLARY ! It's HER time !

S.S. --> That is their job and what they are supposed to do. Lots highly strung nutters out there. All physical attacks against Trump/Hillary and the SS are unjustified (reporters/civilians/general Libs). If these attacks continue the US will become a "Banana Republic" and it seems the media (and others) want to normalize these types of attacks by promoting them. = Sad, and they should be ashamed of themselves for promoting such behavior.

It's not already?

Each nominee, secret service men are assigned to protect. Many attendees were taking video. Nevada legistrature passed severe gun control laws that attendees were not scared of guns in rally. They just kept taking videos.

It should be interesting to all that the only threats of violence have been directed towards Trump. Is that was democracy in America means today? No one destroyed Hillary's star on the Walk of Fame(oh, she hasn't earned one). Remember when Bobby Kennedy was murdered? Was it also because he threatened the status quo? Plus ca change...

-7 ( +0 / -7 )

As if Hillary Above the Law Clinton would be better.

Evidently. The would be assailant was even mentioned in Wikileaks as a paid disrupter (Dem party operative).

Is that what they're telling you in your right-wing conspiracy sites now?

5 ( +6 / -1 )

Hillary's star on the Walk of Fame(oh, she hasn't earned one)

Can't do better than this quote from their Website: "Trump's extravagant lifestyle and outspoken manner have made him a celebrity for years, a status amplified by the success of the shows he produced, the Miss Universe Pageants and the NBC show The Apprentice." http://www.walkoffame.com/donald-trump I guess their site has not been updated - or has not yet had that portion taken down (sexual harassment suits pending and all).

During that time, Clinton was a bit busy being a senator and Secretary of State - but they don't give out stars for those in Hollywood, do they? Anyway, I'm from that area. People there are hard to impress (one reason we told the NFL to piss off unless they'd fund things themselves). They'll vote overwhelmingly for Clinton because she will get the job they want to be done done. That's all they care about - not some stupid tile on a sidewalk.

Search it yourself. He is mentioned seven times. There may also be footage of a similar attempted incident in Florida.

It is the Global Intelligence Files. He is there.

Your original claim:

The would be assailant was even mentioned in Wikileaks as a paid disrupter (Dem party operative).

Your 'proof' (note the quotes):

https://search.wikileaks.org/?query=%22austyn+crites%22&exactphrase=&anyof=&excludewords=&documentdatestart=&documentdate_

Did you even look at the links you provide? These leaks are from Stratfor (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stratfor), which has nothing to do with Hillary's campaign, nor the democrats. And if you actually look at the seven links that are returned in the search you provided:

One has no reference to the guy at all

One has a reference to someone with the same last name, different first name

Five are for orders of various products by a guy with the same name

So, your so-called 'evidence' has nothing to do with the democratic party, has nothing to do with Clinton's campaign, and the references to the guy's name show absolutely nothing whatsoever.

Republicans are so desperate to believe in conspiracy, they will believe anything they read. But when you go to the source, generally you find that the conclusions they reach are not born in reality.

4 ( +6 / -2 )

He certainly has a diversified set of interests.... University of Chicago Business School, a history of shell companies, associations with a CIA-linked intelligence gathering company with all sorts of dubious links, now a scrubbed Facebook page. Whatever the case may be, I doubt it will effect the election. We will just have to wait for those false stories the Clintons keep saying are going to be planted Tuesday.

-5 ( +0 / -5 )

Here's an interesting thing. There was a protester with a sign at one of Barack Obama's rallies, and when he saw the crowd booing at him this is what he had to say:

"You've got an older gentleman who is supporting his candidate. He's not doing nothing. You don't have to worry about him."

"We live in a country that respects free speech. Second of all, it looks like he might have served in our military and we got to respect that. Third of all, he was elderly, and we got to respect our elders.

"And fourth of all, don't boo! Vote!"

This is how Trump perceived it:

"There was a protester, and a protester who like us. [Mr Obama] was talking to the protester, screaming at him, really screaming at him.

"If I spoke the way Obama spoke to that protester, they would say: 'He became unhinged!' And he spends so much time screaming at this protester, and frankly, it was a disgrace."

Is Trump actually aware that it's possible for people to find the video online and see what really happened? I mean, he really does just seem to say whatever takes his fancy without any regard at all for how true it might be, and then his fans call liberals and Democrats fantasists?

4 ( +4 / -0 )

None of which point at him being affiliated to the democrats.

We will just have to wait for those false stories the Clintons keep saying are going to be planted Tuesday.

You didn't even wait until Tuesday. You just tried to plant a false story today, about this guy being 'Dem party operative' based on being 'mentioned in Wikileaks', when the reality is that the Wikileaks he was mentioned in were from 2012, had nothing to do about the democrats, and didn't point to him being a democratic party operative whatsoever.

I don't know if you specifically have gone over the edge, or if you're just repeating the garbage that someone else who has gone over the edge has been spouting, but so far this election we've seen Republican's double voting, Republicans trying to suppress votes, Republicans fielding gangs of thugs at polling stations, and now Republicans trying to blame actions of one of their own on the Democrats. And they've been trying to claim the election is rigged against them. Yeah right.

The Republican party is tearing itself apart from the inside.

DEPLORABLE

I don't care if you don't like Trump, but this is still America, where everyone has RIGHTS. I don't like idiots no matter what they're ideals. Laws still apply to protect the RIGHTS of US citizens.

Yes this is a BS presidential race, but for God's sake be CIVIL!!!!

The FBI just cleared Clinton. She's unstoppable!

1 ( +2 / -1 )

The person who yelled gun. was being investigated. And the man who caused commotion was arrested. His name is released. an attorneys assigned to him. That meas he is charged as a criminal. He had an interview with a media and talked too much. Antonio Cate. In USA, when arrested as a criminal, never say. Mafias used typo satay,,,,, I refused to answer bcaue it will incriminate me and there was a guy shoo refused almost 100 times and freed in Vegas.

Is Trump actually aware that it's possible for people to find the video online and see what really happened?

I can't say whether he's aware or not, but I think many will see what they want to see. I saw what you saw. Others probably saw Obama screaming at a protester.

Nope, in order to be a Banana Republic your economy almost entirely has to be dependent upon a resource export.

The US is: War.

Trump can't even look at a protest sign without weeping and fleeing like a coward. How is he going to deal with tough players like China and Russia? They will absolutely slaughter him in meetings.. His deformed baby hands does him no service either

As if there were any doubt, this whole affair dispels any notion about the paranoid style of right wing politics.
