By all accounts, nobody from the side of the Black Lives Matter and anti-fascist counter-rally was directly involved in the deadly confrontation.

If this is shown to be factual, it directly contradicts what several far rightists posted.

I assume they just posted/parroted what was 'reported' by one of their far right media outlets.

he is. both he and the journalist are followers of Antifa accounts on Facebook and Twitter. The shooter also has an Antifa related tattoo.

Denver police tweeted on Sunday they are unaware if Dolloff was affiliated with any political group

Any evidence to prove this?

The Denver police did an investigation in the span of about and hour and determined "it was definitely not Antifa". In fact they are so confident "it's definitely not Antifa" that they quickly took to Twitter to inform the world that "it's definitely not Antifa."

You know, I'm starting to think that maybe BLM isn't so wrong about abolishing the police.

Of course not, and they are not entitled to either freedom of expression or association, in his tiny, fear-stoked mind...

The Pinkertons have a long and ugly history of abusive behaviour when employed for crowd control, dating back to the 1912 Lawrence Textile Strike in Lawrence, Mass, America's version of Peterloo. Agents hid among the strikers and acted as agents provocateur, instigating a riot that was then brutally put down. The unionized workers eventually prevailed, however. http://www.hope1842.com/strike1913mattina.html

Antifa is an idea not a group.

4 ( +8 / -4 )

well an "idea" just shot someone in the face.

not even a security guard.

NEW: Denver Dept of Excise and Licenses confirms “there is no record for an active licensed security guard now or ever for an individual named Matthew Doloff or Dolloff. If he was operating as a security guard, he was in violation of the law”. More tonight on @CBSDenver

Eh, I am going with the Denver Post and police over wild eyed rumors. It appears that neither person in this tragedy was strongly involved in any political movement. The illegally unlicensed guard with a ranching and dog breeding background, and the tattooed Navy vet victim who made cowboy hats for a living. A case of redneck on redneck violence most likely. What is the cliche about playing stupid games?

Too many dippitidys armed and walking around.

They are both an embarassment to rural Coloradan farm/ranch culture. Invading the big city and fighting to the death in front of the Denver Art Museum? What a waste.

Actually, Antifa is an ideology, not an idea. An ideology with roots in Communism and anarchy. An ideology whose followers are violent fascist thugs.

USA is heading to civil war...soon or later...

Pinkerton denied that he is their employee and that he was contracted through them. All news agencies, even national news, are reporting that he is NOT a licensed security guard. Whole story falling apart.

Denver station KUSA-TV, an NBC affiliate, said in its own account posted online that Dolloff was contracted by KUSA through the Pinkerton security agency,

It's interesting to see posters like Blacklabel 'attacking' the shooter.

If he was struck in the face, and then pepper sprayed, what exactly is the point of having a gun if you can't use it for self defense? I thought this was always the main argument from those on the right?

Do they actually mean that only those affiliated to groups on the right can use a gun in self defense?

I guess all those WW2 veterans, civil rights marchers in the US and Ireland, anti-apartheid protesters, Nazi-hunters and millions more who stand against fascism, racism and anti-Semitism would disagree.

3 ( +9 / -6 )

yes they would disagree what just because Antifa created such a name, that this automatically makes the current group Antifa have anything in common with these others you mention.

The "idea" of Antifa somehow toppled a statue of Abraham Lincoln in Portland today. the Oregon Historical Society Museum was vandalized and tried to be set on fire. More like ISIS actions that anti fascist actions.

But it’s still a developing story, so we just don’t know yet.

I assume they just posted/parroted what was 'reported' by one of their far right media outlets.

Well, both sides do this every single time an incident like this happens. Let’s just wait for all the facts to come in. Either way a person is dead and for what? Absolutely no reason for this to happen.

Can’t he use the Kyle defense line? You seemed to be ok with that as clearly self defense.

Actually, Antifa is an ideology, not an idea. An ideology with roots in Communism and anarchy. An ideology whose followers are violent fascist thugs.

Communist, Anarchist Fascists. Blimey, sounds scary. Do you own a firearm?

-1 ( +4 / -5 )

@Black, statues are just artistic symbols of old political ideology. Easy to make new ones if they are needed. Two or two hundred being damaged is still not in the same league as fatal shootings by the CO rancher/guard or other screw ups like Kyle Rittenhouse.

Woah, sounds cool as hell.

This seems to be a “Patriot” tactic. Watched a clip a couple weeks ago of white dudes with BLM signs getting jumped by Proud Boys. By “jumped” I mean baseball bats and lead pipes. Then for good measure, a nice blast of bear spray in the eyes while they’re on the ground.

Cops show up, briefly detain the PB’s then let them go.

looks like today’s “Patriot” picked a target unwilling to play that game

Not to nitpick but communism and fascism sit on opposite sides of the political spectrum

To use a baseball metaphor, a fascist communist is a YankeeSox.

would also add, Anti-Fa is a reaction to something that previously existed, hence the prefix Anti.

@kurumazaka

Furthermore, you could argue that being anti-politics, anarchy is against both of the others.

Blacklabel - the only thing I'm sure of is that if this was a "patriot" shooting dead a BLM supporter, your would be spinning the self-defence angle. Facts are simply material to be used to spin a political narrative.

Too bad chris wallace and the many on the political left intentionally ignore where the real domestic terror probelm is.

The early days of rioting and violence saw innocent people protecting their property only to be killed by antifa and blm rioters.

A Milwaukee man shot and killed in broad daylight for making Trump signs.

A little 5 yr old boy shot in the head and killed by his blm democrat supporting neighbor.

A young mother of toddlers say that all ives matter. Shot and killed.

Trump supporter in Portland shot and killed by antifa anout a month ago.

And now antifa killing again.

And these are just the ones I can think off the top of my head.

Yet, the left politicians / 'media' intentionally try to spin a different story.

As nadler desperately tried to convey. 'Antifa is a myth.'

Biden. 'Antifa is an idea.'

Sadly, some feign themselves into believing this.

no, as one person had mace and another had a gun. the person who had a gun shot the person who didnt have a gun prior to them even using the non lethal mace.

there is no self defense in that. you dont get to murder someone to avoid being maced.

I hope for Kyle’s sake he has a better defense than that.
