I hope everyone enjoyed Cruz's publicity stunt in his efforts to run for President in 2016. If it causes a delay and federal workers are sent home with no pay I'm guessing it will be the most expensive political ad in history, all on the backs of the workers. What an utter tool.

And by:

“The American people want to stop this madness, and so do I,”

Cruz is clearly referring to the GOP as a viable political party.

A story of Green Eggs and Ham? It was funny.

This borrowing ceiling is a major impediment to government spending!

Can we just get rid of the two major parties, who, together, have put us in this total mess, and vote in... lessee, who might know what they be doing... all right, I'll get back to ya'll on this...

I'm afraid the glaring irony seemed to be lost on Senator Cruz.

I'm afraid I don't agree with you there, Serrano. You may disagree with policy, but there is a time and place for everything, and neither the CR nor the budget ceiling are among them - in fact, the latter shouldn't even exist.

Any patriotic American would hope that Obamacare succeeds - for controlling healthcare is one of the most vital issues facing America. As such, they would work to ensure the success of Obamacare. Unfortunately, not only do many in the Republican party hope that Obamacare fails, they take active steps to encourage its failure. Since when have Republicans hated America so much?

Chait had a good take on this; it is that certain people selectively refuse to comprehend reality. Healthcare inflation has slowed dramatically, and projected costs for insurance under Obamacare have come under budget. As Chait notes, these are not propaganda talking points; they are hard numbers. In time, Obamacare (probably in an improved form, with a public option) will become as part of America as Medicare and Medicaid are now, and Cruz and his ilk will be justly viewed as the partisan hacks that they are.

Cruz's kids must have loved getting their Dr Seuss bedtime story from C-span. If they even bothered to tune in. Wth their gold plated Senator's family health plan, I'm sure they sleep soundly with or without the picture books. Cruz should have thrown a curveball and started reciting Cuban fairytales with a Canadian accent, interspersed with a Texas square dance every half hour.

TED CRUZ FOR PRESIDENT.

Ted Cruz did a brilliant job. 16% of the economy under the IRS has many concerned. The issues he brought up regarding people losing their current healthcare, increased healthcare premiums and deductibles, being put under 30 hours a week because of the cost of ACA, companies not expanding over 50 employees, government employees including the senate having a much better plan, teamsters screaming foul, friends of the president getting exceptions, religious liberty being violated (HHS mandate), not being able to keep the same doctor or even hospital...just devastating to many. However, if you are poor it is cheap and one can say to the many "now you know what it feels like not to have insurance... just need to start trading the trailers for those nice houses now (tongue in cheek)".

Senator Lee was Brilliant as well when he spoke of the constitutionality of the ACA. First, the Congress passed a penalty for not joining ACA because tax increases were not to be spoken of (Obama promised no taxes). Second, the penalty was argued to really be a tax at the Supreme Court (a penalty would not fly in the commerce clause). Third, the Supreme Court rewrote the law to say tax (laws are to be written by the Congress according to the constitution). Fourth, the Supreme Court rewrote something else in the law (I cannot remember what Lee said). Lee is brilliant.

Lee would say we may be becoming subjects rather than sovereigns of government. Good intentions, but the constitution is there to keep government in check ... to keep it of the people by the people and for the people.

TED CRUZ FOR PRESIDENT.

Cruz for Prez?

Dude will have to run without much support from party stalwarts like John McCain, who just dressed down Cruz for the Nazi appeasement rhetoric buried somewhere in the wee hours of Cruz's allnighter.

At least McCain knows that only a dope says dealing with one's own national budget is akin to a foreign military threat, and his maverick side makes him unafraid to point out how dumb it sounds to his GOP brother Cruz.

Here's McCain: "I do not begrudge Sen. Cruz or any other senator who wants to come talk as long as they want to or as long as they can, depending on the rules of the Senate. But I do disagree strongly that, to allege that there are people today who are like those who, prior to World War II, didn't stand up and oppose the atrocities that were taking place in Europe."

"TED CRUZ FOR PRESIDENT."

Heh, president of Obscurity you mean. Or perhaps the local AA chapter.

80% of Americans polled think it's plain wrong to use the debt ceiling to get what you want, regardless of partisan politics.

Enjoy your own implosion Republicans, you've worked tirelessly to bring it about - it's just a shame you're trying to take America and potentially everyone else down with you.

When Cruz and McCain argue what's worse than the original Nazis, they must not be too worried about what's going on this century. Maybe it's just as well for these pols to spend their days rehashing the circumstances leading to WWII, giving 21 hour after dinner speechs to fund their campaigns, and forming political parties named after tea dumping radicals who, if they came back today, would resemble modern anti-free trade agreement and Occupy protestors more than anything else.

A 21 hour speech is someone who really likes the sound of his own voice. Did even Castro manage rants that long?

The ACA is not "under the IRS" in any way, shape, or form. They have their part which is to administer the penalty for those who do not get insurance and that's it. There are areas where people will see either increases or decreases but you need to take into account the tax credits to get an idea of where you will stand overall (that part is often omitted). Under 30 hours a week? Business has been doing that for years, long before ObamaCare, or at least for the jobs they have already shipped overseas. The biggest drag on the economy is the uncertainty of the debt ceiling which is a Republican creation and it isn't going away anytime soon so maybe they should fix that and stop complaining.

Teamsters are crying foul because it will be difficult for them to keep their Cadillac health plans in the future, something Republicans always wanted to gut, so it's strange to watch them prop up the Unions as victims here. They should be cheering Obama but they can't since it's Obama. If your insurance company changes your policy where you can't have the same doctor, then you lose your doctor, just as was the case before ObamaCare. Obama did overstep his description by saying you would never lose your doctor but at the end of the day he can't make insurance companies keep the same policies forever.
