Oh my gosh this is so hilariously representative of the tea-party and its supporters. It's classic to the extreme. The only sad point is that people that are so utterly unintelligent as to support this woman will lap up what she says regardless of the absolutely groundless statements and their lack of proof, and in fact proof of the opposite.

"But the ADL also has stressed that 9/11 and the Holocaust are separate, incomparable events."

You would think that's a given, but evidently the tea-party movement have their brains wired differently (shut off).

This has given me my laugh of the day. Thank you, JT.

Angle, a Southern Baptist, has called herself a faith-based politician. and doesn’t believe the Constitution requires the separation of church and state.

yeah, that explains all. Loony fanatic calling others fanatics. Hopefully she will never ever get any power

timeon: "yeah, that explains all. Loony fanatic calling others fanatics."

Agreed. it's much like some of the posters on here (not surprisingly many are supporters of such a woman); they want all extremists dead.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Many of the posters here probably find the idea of shariah law in the US funny and off the wall; I doubt that the residens of Deerborn, Michigan are all too amused.

Same as in Europe... the development is gradual and piecemeal.

Lived in Dearborn and still have good friends there. This sharia law in Dearborn talk is pure nonsense.

" Ibrahim Hooper, a spokesman for the Council on American-Islamic Relations, a Washington-based advocacy group, called Angle’s statements “bizarre.” "

Ibrahim Hooper, of course, is deeply entangled with the Muslim Brotherhood and its front organization CAIR. But don´t expect the mainstream media to report on the background of this activist and professional liar.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Council on American-Islamic Relations = what?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

The Dearborn police are notorious nazis and will abide no actions that disturb the peace. I don't doubt they arrested someone causing trouble at a public event. This is the same city that has spent the last 60 years steadfastly enforcing the NBID policy.

Loony fanatic calling others fanatics.

Winston Churchill was thought crazy by liberals for suggesting that Nazis had bad motives, too. Read your history.

In an interview on ABC's "This Week" earlier this month, Muslim activist Anjem Choudary made clear what he and his Islamist brothers have planned for the West.

"We do believe, as Muslims, the East and the West will one day be governed by the Shariah," he said. "Indeed, we believe that one day, the flag of Islam will fly over the White House."

She's running against Mormon Harry Reid. His religion has some pretty whacky ideas of its own.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

"Dearborn Sharia" turns up 65,800 hits on a google search...

0 ( +0 / -0 )

None of those hits are on city websites I can assure you.

Angle is seeking the Nevada senate seat. Unemployment in the state is well above the 10 percent national average. Hilariously, the media chooses to focus on what she says about Mohammedan communities in Michigan.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I am donating to Harry Reid's campaign now.

I lived in Dearborn for many years and still have family and friends there. Angle is full of it like a Thanksgiving turkey.

Winston Churchill was thought crazy by liberals for suggesting...

LOL!! Just keep making stuff up as you go along. The thought of juxtaposing Angle with Churchill is just too funny.

"Dearborn Sharia" turns up 65,800 hits on a google search...

Wow, now there's a real scientific stat. Using a negative search term of "WilliB" probably removes 50,000 of them.

Angle is seeking the Nevada senate seat. Unemployment in the state is well above the 10 percent national average.

And how can someone so clueless about life in general be able to tackle the unemployment problem?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

RR, and don't you think it's ironic that a person who thinks religion and law shouldn't be separated to speak against Shariah?

to keep your analogy, it's like Stalin criticizing the Nazis

1 in 5 Americans believe Angle is a radical Christian.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I'll just sit back back and watch American 'liberals' here deal with a couple tons of irony - Angle's fears concerning Islam only echo those held by the founder of The Democratic Party, Thomas Jefferson, and contained in a report he authored with John Adams for the early Continental Congress:

“…that it [ the religion of Islam ] was founded on the Laws of their Prophet, that it was written in their Koran, that all nations who should not have acknowledged their authority were sinners, that it was their right and duty to make war upon them wherever they could be found, and to make slaves of all they could take as Prisoners, and that every Musselman who should be slain in Battle was sure to go to Paradise.”

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Point of order: Jackson founded the democratic party, not Jefferson.

Point of order: Jackson founded the democratic party, not Jefferson.

If you are someone who identifies as a Jacksonian Democrat...

I smile to think what ornery old piss n vinegar Andrew Jackson would have to say about the Religion of Submission, "Islam."

The thought of juxtaposing Angle with Churchill is just too funny.

Perhaps she's also a drunk? That would explain a lot.

Taka

0 ( +0 / -0 )

The democratic party is based on the political organization built by Jackson and Van Buren. The ideology that defines the dems versus the reps dates to then. Jeffersonian ideals are root in both parties.

Jackson may have fought with Muslim mercenaries in his many wars. I imagine he wouldn't have cared for them, unless they fought well.

1 in 5 Americans believe Angle is a radical Christian.

Fair enough. She's a Southern Baptist after all. Nevada is heavily Mormon. Hard to see how someone as loathsome as Harry Reid could have made it to the Senate otherwise. In the end it is Nevada voters who will decide.

Mister Creosote

"doesn’t believe the Constitution requires the separation of church and state"

What was all that about "activist judges" re-interpreting the Constitution? Has the right wing gone off that one?

Angle is not a serious candidate, and those who defend her are not serious about governance. The terrifying fact that she is running neck-and-neck with Reid is testimony to just how awful a politician Reid is.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

They had a responsibility to be sensitive to what had happened there and it is exactly the same thing as 9/11. Ground zero, we have a responsibility to be sensitive to the loss of a nation, to the loss of families, to the loss of life that happened there.

Angle should try thinking before speaking. Thousands of Catholic poles and clergymen were killed (although, to be accurate those who died were targeted for being Polish rather than being Catholic) in the holocaust alongside Jewish poles and of the 9/11 victims many were Muslim. If anything the mosque should be allowed to go up out of respect for the fallen Muslims that were among the victims.

Dearborn Mayor Jack O’Reilly called Angle’s comments “shameful.”

Absolutely, I love Dearborn.

“The fact that Sharron Angle believes American cities have been taken over by militant terrorist organizations that are ruling our citizens under Sharia law shows a terrifying lack of connection with reality and a willingness to subscribe to conspiracy theories that demonstrates she’s far too extreme and dangerous to represent Nevada in the U.S. Senate,” spokesman Kelly Steele said.

That pretty much sums it up.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

there have been several cases in the top news lately where shariah was applied, including a women in Newark accusing her husband of rape and domestic violence which was thrown out as the defendant's lawyer argued that shariah should be considered... Why do you guys approved of such acts? Pigs

0 ( +0 / -0 )

"Perhaps she's also a drunk?"

Nope. Try again.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Sharia law in the USA?? What is this law maker smoking??

0 ( +0 / -0 )

The question that was asked.

I keep hearing about Muslims wanting to take over the United States ... on a TV program just last night, I saw that they are taking over a city in Michigan and the residents of the city, they want them out. They want them out. So, I want to hear your thoughts about that.”

Her response,

Angle responds that “we’re talking about a militant terrorist situation, which I believe it isn’t a widespread thing, but it is enough that we need to address, and we have been addressing it.”

“My thoughts are these, first of all, Dearborn, Michigan, and Frankford, Texas are on American soil, and under constitutional law. Not Sharia law. And I don’t know how that happened in the United States,” she said. “It seems to me there is something fundamentally wrong with allowing a foreign system of law to even take hold in any municipality or government situation in our United States.”

Is there some sort of problem with that? Is there a problem with that?

Checked and the nj case was overturned on appeal, because of course shariah law is not applicable in the us....

0 ( +0 / -0 )

The good folks of Dearborn do not need her concern as they are governed by the laws of the us, the state of Michigan, Wayne county, and the city of Dearborn.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Bad judgement is applied by judges all the time. The system is built to protect against that. You won't see shariah law standing through the process anytime soon.

For example ....A Mosque built by ground zero, no problem.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Not even beginning to follow your line of reasoning. Governing law and mosques - not even close to being related.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Maybe the comments were over the top but still, any attempt to apply sharia in the US (like in Great Britain) is a travestry of justice. It's got nothing to do with the mosque in NYC and everything to do with the rule of law and the separation of church and state. Any US judge who would apply sharia (or any other religious code) as a point of law should be sacked and disbarred.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

"Sharron Angle believes American cities have been taken over by militant terrorist organizations" That's funny, I could swear she was referring to the Tea Party until I read further. What a bunch of morons.

So totally agree. And that one judge who did, was properly overturned. Yet even Supreme Court justices have been known to quote law from other countries in their decisions. Something that shouldn't be accepted or tolerated at all.

"Sharron Angle believes American cities have been taken over by militant terrorist organizations" That's funny, I could swear she was referring to the Tea Party until I read further. What a bunch of morons.

Which ones? The Dhimmi apologists who think bringing in Sharia law is a good thing? Or those who oppose it? I know which ones I think are idiots. Not sure which ones you are talking about though. Or are you one of those losers ripping on the Tea party?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I am not from the great state of Nevada and I pretty much consider myself a Libertarian, but if Sharon Angle has canadians like SmithisJapan this worked up I think I will contribute some money to her campaign.

You know where this road ends? With Sharon Angle as a legislator. Now, I know you hate Reid and you want to wrest control of the legislature from the Dems, but are you really willing to put a crazy lady in power to do it? I get that people are angry; the American public has a lot to be angry about, and that the Dems have a lot to answer for. But why, when the Dems are so weak, do the Republicans/Tea Party supply us with such awful candidates? Candidates that say bizare things, candidates with incoherent or non-existant positions beyond unspecific boiler-plate rhetoric, empty populism, and scare-mongering, and anti-intellectualism. Surely we can do better than this. It's almost as if "real America" intends to cut off it's nose to spite it's face.

Sharron Angle is a completely unmitigated idiot.

What woman in the United States of America with the means to do so wouldn't what to check creeping Shariah law in our great nation ? The Democrat Party wants women in burqas and hijabs? "Progressives" want for American women traditional Mohammedan law, which specifies that rape victims must produce four witnesses ? Muslim women are allowed only to marry another Muslim. Homosexuality is, of course, forbidden. I look forward to hearing Democrats and in particular Hollywood libs like Whoopi Goldberg, who air out the ludicrous idea that Republicans want to 'bring back slavery' , defend the advance of a religion that still allows slavery.

The article mentions CAIR; this is an organization with numerous documented toes to terror groups and among its former members are many who were indicted for their crimes.

Former CAIR Chairman Omar M. Ahmad is on record telling a group of California Muslims in July 1998, "Islam isn't in America to be equal to any other faith, but to become dominant. The Koran . . . should be the highest authority in America, and Islam the only accepted religion on earth."

0 ( +0 / -0 )

sailwind: "For example ....A Mosque built by ground zero, no problem."

No problem at all, in the legal sense, unlike with the comment you were referring to. The land is owned by people of the Islamic faith, and so long as they are abiding by the law they can use it how they like. What you are talking about is the moral dilemma (for some, since they are as intolerant as they people they proclaim to be against).

sarge: The woman is incredibly stupid. That's a fact. Statements like this make her look even worse, and you KNOW that's the case when other tea-party fools are trying to distance themselves from her (in other words, extremists distancing themselves for an even more radical extremists).

0 ( +0 / -0 )

The woman is incredibly stupid. That's a fact.

Heh, another fine example of the "tolerant left" for all to see. Global liberals have a lot in common with Islamists. They both claim to be followers of peaceful ideologies.

are you really willing to put a crazy lady in power

As oppose to Harry Reid who said in a recent interview that Ted Kennedy and Robert Bryd are the greatest "living Americans".

It's one thing that Dingy Harry confuses the living with the dead, but if he's going to include the dead among his greatest "living Americans", there are plenty of candidates who did not head up the KKK nor leave a young woman to drown in his car.

RR

0 ( +0 / -0 )

As oppose to Harry Reid

Yes. As opposed to Reid. Your example makes him a Democratic/liberal partisan. It does not make him crazy. Sharon Angle once impounded the local highschool football team's new uniforms because "black is the devils color". That is crazy.

Unless you think Democrat/liberal = crazy. In which case, there really isn't any hope for a serious political discussion, is there?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

The thing that gets me about Angle, aside from the crazy, is that she does this Muslim bating on one hand and then tries to tear down the seperation of church and state with the other. The Seperation of Church and state is exactly the thing that prevents Sharia from ever taking hold in the US. So, if you are really concerned about the spread of Sharia, the last thing you'd want to do is to vote for Angle.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Sharia Law being applied by courts in the US - absurd, and just plain ignorant. Sharia Law being argued in mitigation occasionally, possible - as other mitigating circumstances are often argued and given appropriate weight by the court before applying US law to the facts. This has probably happened more than most people realise, but simply gets more attention now for obvious reasons. Muslim communities living according to the precepts of their faith have probably existed in the US for a very long time, it's not hard to imagine that Sharia Law has been brought up in mitigation in a US court before now.

The point to remember is that it will always be US law that will be applied to the facts regardless of someones faith, and if that doesn't happen, there is an appeals process to (hopefully) correct errors of law.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

" Ibrahim Hooper, a spokesman for the Council on American-Islamic Relations "

It is funny (or sad), how the press always quotes Hooper and the CAIR without pointing out that CAIR is a muslim brotherhood front organization with deep connections to Hamas.

And Shariah law, of course, will not be introduced with beheadings and stonings up front, that is a strawman. Instead, Americans will see the creeping introduction of Shariah, just like in Europe. With Shariah councils for family matters and special rights for muslims first. And that, Americans are seeing already... if they cared to look.

Cuz it's not like Somali cab drivers in Minnesota refuse passengers carrying alcohol or anything. No, that would be as outrageous as telling people that Somali clerks at Target refuse to handle bacon customers bring to the register. Somali cabbies have tried to refuse blind passengers because their desert cult considers seeing-eye dogs unclean. Can it be? Nah, it's all just right wing propaganda cooked up years in advance as Dick Armey and pals quietly got Manchurian candidate Sharon Angle into a race against the leader of the Senate.

Taka:

" Good reason to keep separation of church and state you moron. Taka "

There is a VERY good reason to keep separation of church and state. That is why Shariah law should be nipped in the bud.

And I don´t know who you call moron -- those short-sighted fools who now begin to accommodate demands from CAIR to make the US more Shariah compliant, or those warn against that?
