The United States has “information that Russia has accumulated tanks of a type no longer used by Russian forces at a deployment site in southwest Russia, and some of these tanks recently departed,” State Department deputy spokeswoman Marie Harf said Friday.

Now there's a carefully worded statement if I ever saw one. Typical mumbo jumbo which indicates that the speaker is full of BS.

The funniest is "recently departed"

... oh yeah, well where?

The US State Department is desperate to find some direct Russian involvement in this civil uprising, but the best they can some up with is this ridiculous twisted story about three 50 year-old tanks that "recently departed".

And the "little green men" in Crimea weren't Russian, until they were. Of course Russia is directly involved in this insurgency. They fomented it in the first place and are feeding it now.

I do not believe that the Russians will sell tanks no matter how antiquated they maybe as military surplus to the general public.

It is insane if they did.

More BS propaganda by the AFP courtesy of the US war mongers. I guess they didn't want to talk about how Ukraine has been shelling population areas with heavy artillery and bombing them with fighter jets.

the head of Ukraine’s state energy firm said Kiev was ready to make a $1.95-billion (1.45-billion-euro) payment demanded by Moscow by Monday if Russia settled on a price of $326 per 1,000 cubic meters of gas

What this bias article fails to mention is that russia has been offerring Ukraine a 100usd discount per cubic meter lower than the rest of europe. Ukrainian side received money from Europe to pay for its debts however refuse to pay any money until the price is lowered even more. They want an even lower price for gas which in turn they will sell at a profit to other countries. Why in the world would any nation allow such blatant extorsion from any buyer. Not only do they refuse to pay for what they have already used but they refuse to negotiate and accept a discount on the european rate (which would also apply to their debt)

Russian has been asked to postpone gas cuts by the European community several times giving ukraine time to fill their reserve supplies for free. The 16th is the final deadline after which Ukraine will only receive gas it has paid for( russia has followed all proper rules and regulations while supplying ukraine with FREE gas)

All's fair in love and war. No crying on both sides.

The only person we should all feel sorry for is you...people like you are the reason the innocent die in conflict every day. Read some history, go back to school and keep your rediculous comments to yourself.

I don't believe anything I read in the news about Eastern Ukraine any more, except that people are dying. This is horror can be ended at the conference table that includes the rebels. Some kind of compromise can be worked out. This is the time, and time is running out. This is a grass roots revolt and it will not simply be bombed out of existence. Even if Kiev "wins"the revolt will burn for years, mostly likely for generations. Peace now, please.

Kabukilover, you are correct. I used to belief in the "news" until I learned that it is all "cooked".

Rest in peace to the poor victims. The Russian war-criminals responsible will hopefully be tried in the future.

People can just walk into Russia and drive out with a few tanks? Creepy. At this point I'm hoping Russia supplied them because the thought of Russian hardware being available to anyone who wants to pick it up sounds a lot worse.

Russia supplied the separatists. Make no mistake:

Russia will do everything in its power to prevent an independent, Nato oriented Ukraine. This fact of real politik is as obvious as it is ignored by too many in the West.

Does anyone here honestly think the US would tolerate Mexico cozying up to China. Ever here of the Monroe Doctrine? Yeah, didn't think so

On another note, just imagine B.C. trying to break off from Canada, and some Canuks started raiding northern Washington. You know exactly what the US would do (if a Republican were President)...

Yah, that's right. Invade Iraq.

The early morning downing near the airport of the rebel stronghold city of Lugansk

Until the illegitimate Gov in Kiev respects the rights and sovereignty of these Eastern Ukraine people who democratically voted for succession I would expect more of these illegal arm shipments to be taken out of the sky.
