What else is in the Bible as a law that everyone should follow?

Pick and choose wisely to fit your agenda.

(Stones sold separately)

Hypocrites...

Jefferson Beauregard Sessions is another squeaky, whiney voice representing the angry, alienated and shrinking WASP demographic. But then he knows how easy it is to convince the more intellectual vulnerable in that group.

Cults of personality at so many levels. Waiting for a savior (human form or ghost) to come rescue them from the messes many have made for themselves. But blame on 'different' others.

Lol! Cuz things haven't changed in 2000 years? Lock the doors, Philistines at the gate!

I just love when people justify their actions wit the Bible. You can immediately find something to contradict them !

Romans 13 also says :

"The authorities that exist have been established by God. Consequently, whoever rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves."

And :

"Give to everyone what you owe them: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor."

Which I think shows the American Revolution goes against God's will.

Also, Jeff Sessions should also read what follows :

"The commandments, “You shall not commit adultery,” “You shall not murder,” “You shall not steal,” “You shall not covet,” and whatever other command there may be, are summed up in this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Love does no harm to a neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law."

I tend to find the people who appeal most often to the Bible have read it the least.

People in government have been citing the Bible since the nations inception. What's the big deal JT?

Let's have another look at Romans 13, at the bits Sessions and the Holy Gang choose to skip over:

rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong.

The children have done no wrong, yet the 'rulers' are inflicting on them the terror of being snatched away from their parents, the ones who are in authority over their children.

Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and you will be commended.

The children have followed the ones in authority, their parents.

*This is also why you pay taxes, for the authorities are God’s servants, who* give their full time to governing.

--except when they're playing golf at Mar a lago, or twittering in the early hours?

Let us behave decently, as in the daytime, not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and debauchery, not in dissension and jealousy.

Apparently the Orange One is teetotal (always a warning sign), but he pushes all the other buttons with a vengeance.

Holier than thou = hypocrite, big time

The solution seems really simple to me. Don't illegally cross any border, especially with children. Do people expect to break laws and not go to jail?

That's not really the point of this story though. It's that the Session's is saying that the justification for the acts you describe comes from the bible.

Pretty explicit here: Leviticus 19:33-34 N (NIV)

33 “‘When a foreigner resides among you in your land, do not mistreat them. 34 The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born. Love them as yourself, for you were foreigners in Egypt. I am the Lord your God.

Matthew 18:2-6: whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me. If anyone causes one of these little ones—those who believe in me—to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.

Being snatched away from your parents is a pretty big stumble. Shame on those who (try to) hide behind the scriptures as they split up families.

Colossians 3:20: Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord.

Those kiddies were obeying their parents.

Love them as yourself, for you were foreigners in Egypt.

Something the immigrant-descended American establishment would do well to remember.

"When fascism comes to America it will be wrapped in a flag and carrying a cross."

Enough said.

Cherry picking bits of the Bible to justify tearing breastfeeding babies from their mothers. Scum.

It is a free choice to have your own beliefs. Like...thy shalt not kill, love my neighbour, pay thy lawyers....

"Our government has the discretion in our laws to ensure that young children are not separated from their parents and exposed to irreparable harm and trauma,"

abominable. Indefensible. Morally bankrupt. Is that who we are now?

Perhaps Sessions should read that commandment about adultery to Trump and see where it gets him.

Anyway, the bible is just a book written by humans and Sessions cannot justify his actions by quoting from it, it's a bit like Hitler quoting from Mein Kampf to justify genocide. What Sessions is doing is wrong.

If it was a democrat quoting from the koran all these raging JT posters would be miraculously silent.

I seriously doubt that.

"Its a bit like Hitler quoting from Mein Kamf to justify genicide".

The hysteria just hit fever pitch.

"to obey the laws of the government because God has ordained them for the purpose of order,"

Separating children from their parents is a policy of the Trump administration - not a law - and certainly not ordained by "god".

BTW Mr. Attorney General - ever heard of the separation between church and state?

Citing the bible is fun! You can cite it for just about anything. And get conflicting positions. Huzzah!

Legal immigrants are welcome to the USA.

But ... moderates in Congress have put forth a bill:

This week, House Republicans pitched a draft immigration bill.

It contained a provision to prevent children and parents from being separated at the border, allowing for them to be detained together.

Also in the bill are provisions to protect 1.8 million Daca 'Dreamers'](https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-43612465), eliminate the diversity lottery, and add $25bn (£18bn) for border security, Republican congressman Jeff Denham [told reporters on Wednesday.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-44499048 I don't agree with all of it, but at least they are following the process.

Devout Christian Sessions now openly quotes his favorite handbook, the Bible, to justify inhumane policies. This administration is sinking deeper and deeper.
