Guns in the wrong hands will only do harm, there is no other ways to put it.

For as long as governments allow these lethal killing tools to be sold to the general public this article and more like that we don't even see or read or continue.

There is NOTHING cool about owning a killing machine.

Expect more. There is a massive flow of weapons, hand held missiles and things like body armor flooding out of Ukraine into EU. I don’t use the dark web, but I have seen a lot of screenshots of sales. English operator manuals.

Really sad, deepest condolences. Just terrible.

A very reasonable concern. Many of the illegal weapons in Europe used by criminal gangs are surplus from the wars in Yugoslavia. The numerous grenade attacks in Sweden are all carried out using old Yugoslav M75 hand grenades.

No, there isn’t. The owners of rifles I know, lawful owners, never refer to them as cool.

There is NOTHING cool about owning a killing machine.

Knives, machetes, cars, are intended for multiple purposes.

Guns are intended for a single purpose.

I would agree to have the right to bear a handgun for self-defense after a rigorous evaluation (if you are a business owner, a lawyer, or other concrete reason why you need a gun) and months of waiting, anything beyond that is just madness.

People carrying in the church.... Americans are so scary of each other and at the same time so blind they dont even figure out why.

Denmark has extremely strict gun laws. Yet you assume this 24 year old from wherever had his weapons legally.

i kind of doubt it.

In fact, I doubt it very, very much.

Photos, where? Links please.

Danish police have commented that the shooter is "ethnically Danish".

Before getting too hysterical it seems the weapon used in this case was a hunting rifle.

Allow these lethal killing tools to be sold to the general public

What the heck are you blathering about ? ? !

The article says absolutely nothing about the shooter purchasing the gun as general public customer .

The type of people that use guns for crimes like this will find weapons regardless.

If not a gun perhaps something else.

Guns are intended for a single purpose

Rifles are used for hunting animals and also for war !

Not a single purpose.

Iam extremely accurate with a Rifle, yet i don't own one or hunt animals , only for target practice.

Yes, Europe does seem very safe compared to the US as long as you exclude the current invasion of Ukraine

That is not necessarily true.

yugoslaia and Northern Ireland you mean. Now it is Ukraine. Times keep achanging.

As other posters have mentioned, Europe is now awash with with all sorts of weapons and ammunition because of the whole "let's give billions of dollars' worth of arms to one of the most corrupt countries on Earth!"

As usual, Liberals never see the mid to long-term consequences of their actions beyond their immediate need to feel good about themselves. You will reap a bitter harvest.

All these posts about military weapons in Europe.

The perpetrator used a hunting rifle.

A both fact-free and evidence -free claim. I suppose that this is something that the Russian propaganda machine is putting out in right wing echo chambers and is now being repeated here.

The news said that he was carrying a hunting rifle. Where I live he would have access to an assault rifle, and 30 round banana clips, making things much worse.

For downvoters, read statements from EUROPOL and INTERPOL.

Very terrible tragedy when something happens like this anywhere.

That is absolutely true, by almost any of the currently used criminality statistics. But hey! This very rare event is already used in the US by the right hand NRA rifle and Bible hugging Neonazis to push against more gun control.

Then that's not a 'right,' it's a privilege.

Self-defense is a right.

Danish police say three people were killed and three others are in critical condition after a shooting rampage Sunday at a shopping mall in Copenhagen.

It's the same anywhere in the world---criminals and firearms=tragedy.

Bingeing all day to celebrate the 4th of July.

Just finished The Patriot.

Mel Gibson is one of the great American actors.

Let's hope the American spirit spreads globally and lets law abiding citizens have access to firearms.

Law abiding citizens in most countries have access to firearms. Including Japan. I grew up using rifles and shotguns in rural New Zealand. They just impose more conditions.

That's a good thing. Then you'd agree it is the non-law abiding citizens with access to firearms that cause all the problems with them.

-7 ( +1 / -8 )

Jeans and T-shirtToday  09:53 pm JST

Sure. That's a neat tautology. But the problems arise when non-law abiding citizens have just as much access to firearms as law-abiding ones, due to lack of meaningful character evaluations, absence of safe-storage laws, and background check-free private sales, for example.

You have far less gun violence in places where that access is heavily restricted, like Denmark or Japan.

I've always maintained; target the people, not the weapons themselves.

The demographics of the US contribute to the non-law abiding citizens getting motivated to gain access to firearms. Japan, Denmark, NZ, etc. do not have similar environments.

Can you elaborate?

Well, for starters, out of the countries I mentioned above, compared to the US, which ones have a homogeneous population?

And statistically speaking, the majority of firearm homicides in the US takes place in specific demographic locations.

Denmark has amongst the strictest gun laws in Europe alongside the UK, so what are you on about? Japan isn't massacre-free either. It just recently had a mass-murder committed with gasoline in Osaka that eclipsed any recent shooting in Europe.
