Several large Chinese cities including Shanghai are on their toes due to new outbreaks of COVID-19 infections, rolling out repeated mass testing or extending lockdowns on millions of residents, with some measures triggering a public outcry.

This is precisely what international experts criticized as "unsustainable approach" about the Chinese way of dealing with the pandemic, making lockdowns the basis of control means this is a never ending circle of infection, lockdowns, economic, social and medical debacle until temporary control is reached, and then outbreaks begin again to repeat the whole thing.

In the southern city of Guangzhou, COVID control staffers broke down the locks of apartment doors without residents' consent, stirring an outcry on social media over the weekend.

Trampling on human rights is what the CCP does best, and when the only tool you have is a hammer then every problem looks like a nail.

Just let china keep at it, they are running their economy into the ground all by themselves.

Has anyone noticed that mass scale mandatory testing has done nothing to alter the spread of this virus. The testing needs to stop. Unless someone is so sick that they seek medical care they should not be testing. It has become a weapon for the government to use against citizens. Guilty until proven innocent. Medical totalitarianism.

I fail to understand how the deluded CCP thinks this policy can ever work? Do they believe they are the only country in the world and once they eradicate it (probably impossible but let’s assume it for arguments sake) that it will be gone for all time? Do they then plan to totally close their borders, ports and air space to prevent importing infection? Are they so blind to the rest of the globe that they haven’t noticed everyone else is vaccinating then opening up as they learn to live with it or are aiming to do so once fully vaccinated, which means they will never be able to achieve zero covid in the real world?

Nibek32, I agree, they are doing the world a favour!
