Havent we been through this many times? The only masks worn to protect the wearer are the high-grade masks used by medical personal. These cheap cloth and paper thingies that the rest of us are asked to wear have only the function to protect others by limiting/redirecting what we exhale. And the merit of those is debated. Remember that Fauci himself said there is not much merit in them.

All these other world leaders wore a mask and still caught the virus, they followed all the crazy rules, so you’re not making any points with all due respect.
And Biden can’t stop it, he doesn’t have a wand because he can’t control the virus and the guy already he would lock the country down again if he had to. I’m telling you now, people won’t stand for it, it’s not going to happen and let’s not forget all the Democrat mayors and governors that refused to open up their states and cities so they get a lot of responsibility on the deaths that happened in their state for not easing some of the restrictions in a safe manner in allowing people to go to work and make money, that’s on them.

Trump knew about the virus, he is on record saying how dangerous it is, he berated his own valet for not wearing a mask around him when he tested positive, marginalized doctors who were trying to inform the public, held rallies and ceremonies that became super spreader events, continued to hector his own administration into ignoring basic precautions for political gain, even attacked Biden for wearing a mask.
300,000 will be dead by Christmas, he will get the credit he deserves.

A modicum of sympathy is necessary for Trump and his wife to preserve our humanity. That said, Trump brought this on him self, his family and his followers. Trump and Trump's followers were, and perhaps still are, anti-maskers. And we know enough now that not wearing masks during this pandemic is dangerous. It can be fatal. Everyone who has seen the statistics knows that.
Trump ignored this and no brought many of his supporters to their untimely deaths. Well, now he's got it. Melania has it. Who knows who else in the White House has it.
It is nothing to be jovial about.
But it is a reminder that in this pandemic no one is safe. Not even the most powerful man in the world.

All this time and we still have someone that does not understand what the masks are about. Its incredible. Masks are about preventing others getting it. For oneself its rather ineffective except under strict conditions no one can meet in daily life.
Anyway, I am sure that Trump, like Boris Johnson, is going to be fine. I am sure he was tested every day since months ago, and unlike any of us, was known to have it before any sign of illness even started. No expense will be spared for him and he will have the best doctors using the most up to date information.
This is, of course, assuming that the "reality" show mogul is not just acting out an October surprise. Its important to remember that once he leaves the White House, his goose is cooked. He will do anything to not have to leave.

Great attempt at re-writing history (well, not really) but this President never closed down anything. State and local officials made those decisions while this President disparaged and sometimes even fought those measures claiming the shut downs were worse than the virus. We have all seen certain posters on this discussion parrot that very same lie. As recently has last month the USDA's Trump appointed leaders tried to prevent a county in California from temporarily shutting down a Foster Farms chicken processing plant that was responsible for thousands of Covid-19 infections and at least five deaths, citing the Defense Production Act. To its credit that county told the USDA to pound sand.

I think Trump handled the virus as best as he could and I think to his credit that he closed the country down saved thousands, but the blame also belongs to the leaders that could have done more and didn't, so there is blame to spread around as well as praise, Dr. Fauci praises him and that's a very good thing, yes, liberals tried to discredit Fauci on that (but praise him on everything else...funny) liberals continue to focus on the deaths and not the reason, if you stub your toe and die, the reason is now the Coronavirus.

I understand that the likely infection point was the nomination event for Amy Coney for the Supreme Court. Since then he has also had a big rally. Both were largely mask free events, so a very wide number of people in Trump's inner circle are at risk.
I presume that VP Pence has been kept isolated from Trump just for this situation - it would be very bad contingency planning otherwise.

My wife voted for him in 2016 and is sort of on his wavelength in some ways uncomfortable to me but when I told her an hour ago that Mr. Trump was moved to the hospital her exact words were "good, I hope we have good news tomorrow". She wasn't inferring a speedy recovery either. She's the one who started calling him "the Rooster" a couple of years ago. Likewise a co-worker who has been a stanch Trump supporter told us after the Tuesday night debate "Biden won that one, i'm done with Trump". He's a life long military fellow btw.

Lovecrafting has a point, how can we be sure it is not a hoax, because it would suit him to delay the election due to Biden outscoring him in the polls, and he'd be hoping it might get him some sympathy votes too. It is of course interesting to look up the statistics for white, 74-year-old obese men, and they are not great. Depending on whom you read, the mortality rate is as low as 4%, but maybe as high as 32%, if he has underlying health conditions.
Perhaps this would be an excellent time to find out if hydroxychloroquine, or bleach, really do work? Wouldn't want our very own President to be a hypocrite.

So far the estimate is that the President probably had the virus for about 7 days now and that his prognosis looks promising and that since he's at Walter Reed, one of the best medical facilities on the planet, has some of the best doctors on the planet. It is very serious, but Trump is a physically strong man, so he should come out of this quite well given the fact he doesn't have ANY pre-existing conditions, so that goes a very long way with the virus, so that's fantastic news.

But Trump knew how serious this illness was, but chose not only to suppress the information, but to give a misleading message. The fact that the disease is so prevalent is partly his fault - he may indirectly have infected himself.

Trump's words toward the coronavirus and COVID-19 have shown how reckless he has been in his flippant opinion and lack of diligence. All the things in the past he has said come back to haunt, as science catches up to him.
Trump's ignorance and choice to not listen to scientists and his own Dr. Fauci has put he and the USA in a bad situation prior to the election. How he made fun of his large, non mask gatherings vs Biden's virtual campaign and promotion of mask wearing during the debate shows his penchant for bullying and being wrong.
For those who still refuse to wear masks and believe only in Trump's lies, here is one he could not avoid. He is responsible for his own COVID-19. It isn't China's. It's his. He is the one person, the POTUS, who could have prevented his own sickness, had he done what was presidential, instead of acting on juvenile impulse. He reaps what he sowed, and listening to this serial liar can cause his cultish following the same result.

Sympathy for anyone who catches this virus comes natural, but in Trump's case it must be tempered by the equally natural desire to see him face "justice" on earth before he meets his Maker in Heaven.

Just because someone is tested positive for Corona does not mean that they will get ill or die. There must be thousands in Japan who if tested would be positive but who is actually dying from it ? It passes on to one and another and eventually everyone builds up immunity.

Didn't have to be this way. He could have taken the virus seriously and taken decisive action and engaged in competent leadership by taking his advisors advice seriously as early as November 2019. If he had done so, he would have protected the US citizenry who he sworn to protect, saved countless lives and gotten himself re-elected.

At the Trump - Biden presidential debate the other day, the First Family all walked in wearing masks, and, right after they took their seats, they all took their masks off with smug looks on their faces in what appeared to be a group act of defiance. At this moment, a helicopter is on the south lawn waiting to take their father, the president, to a hospital due to declining health caused by the Coronavirus, the very disease which they have been mocking as not a big deal.
Wear your masks, folks! Nobody likes wearing them, but do you want to play Russian roulette with your life? Wearing a mask could save your life.
