If these dictators are wise, they should step down and live lively like husni mubarak or stick to their passion and end like saddam and osama. They have already earned for generations.

The world is making so much progress.

It's difficult for the world on how hard what they could say vs. how far they can deliver. They do not want to over-sell it.

For example, if they say that they want President Bashar Assad out now, people will then ask, "OK what can you do to make it happen?"

They don't want the gap between what they state and what they can deliver to be too big. Don't over-state but under-deliver. Look at what's happening in Libya.

Where is NATO and President Obama to protect the civilians of Syria? I guess because Libya has no significant national interest for the US and the West and Syria does, they do not went to seem crass and selfish and thus Obama and European leaders will stand by and watch the Syrians die.

Wolfpack,

Unfortunately, unlike Libya, there's not much NATO or Obama can militarily do to Syria without plunging the whole region into war. Syria's surrounding countries would not give NATO flyover rights for their planes or missiles. I doubt even Israel would do that because then, that would invite trouble for Israel for interfering with another country's security that it (Israel) didn't declare war with. So for now, sanctions are the only thing they can do and have been already doing.

As they say, people think strategy; generals think logistics. People think what must be done; generals think what can be done. In this case, military generals can't do much for now.

Speaking of declaring war, Obama is already in a tenuous position about that concerning Libya with the Congress and even the American population. That's why the US had to scale down its involvement in the NATO-Libya operations. They probably wouldn't tolerate him going to yet another land, short of asking Congress to declare war first.
