Sign at Swiss hotel directed to 'Jewish guests' draws anger

Better to say "all guests must shower prior to pool use."

That's the sign we had at the pool where I worked. The reason was to prevent different skin creams, oils, and dirt from clogging the pool filters prematurely.

Very poorly worded.

The hotel management was quoted as saying there was "no anti-Semitic intent" and "we have no problem with Jewish guests at the hotel".

Ruth Thomann, responsible for the shower sign, said her choice of words had been a mistake.

It's peculiar and offensive, for sure. But it's not like there were nazis marching about making chants.

I'll give her the benefit of the doubt that it was a mistake and poor wording.

Replace "Jewish guests" with "Chinese guests" or "Muslim guests" or simply "Foreign guests"... does the sign seem any less offensive ?

Wow, that would be too incompetent a mistake to not be deliberate..

On another note, it was very unfortunate the Israeli government didn't condemn the Nazi rally in Virginia as much as they condemned this tiny remote hotel in Switzerland

What was the intended meaning of this poorly worded sign? Is the implication that Jews do not shower/bathe? I can't imagine such a view other than the possibility of "some" Jews not bathing during the Shabbat.
