Yet another “asylum seeker”... Fleeing from danger and persecution.

Can anyone explain why male asylum seekers outnumber females by 5 to 1?

Its a risk the UK should not be taking.

Poor things, they are dumped into hotels. Such a violation of human rights

I remember a few years back, there was some sort of amnesty in the UK whereby they decided to let in refugee children stuck in France, trying to "get to their relatives in the UK". They were then shown entering UK and taken to safety on TV. They were all bloody grown up men!

Residents had complained about being kept inside and a lack of money

They are lucky enough to escape misery and disintegration in their own countries but they complain?

meanwhile around 100,000 British live on the streets, and a sizable number of the British population are 3-4th generation social welfare recipients.

Have you ever been beaten, attacked, family members murdered or raped, war? Only hope is to find a better life. The route to Europe is very dangerous. Not just talking about a boat ride across the med. apart from traveling through deserts and war zones, there is bribes, mafia, kidnapping, extortion, robbery, and slavery.

that may answer why the majority are young males.

No no no no no. You're killing their narrative that these people aren't truly refugees. Stop it.

Violent street crime seems to be largely committed by ethnic minorities in the UK these days!

Something isn’t working....

One of the clearest and bravest voices on immigration, refugees and Islamism is the Muslim reformer Majiid Nawaz who finds himself demonized by the far right, the woke left and Islamists ( my type of guy ).

He’s spoken about the obvious failure of multiculturalism ( I wish people would check what that idea actually means ) and the tendency of people to fail to be honest about why we have these problems for fear of being called a racist, bigot or phobe by the woke left and how this fuels the far right.

The UK has failed on this issue.

You know, there’s one thing about this whole incident that’s a fact. Six people who were asylum-seekers got stabbed by a guy who is clearly a lunatic, or at least very mentally unbalanced.

And just because a small number of these people commit such heinous acts, does not mean that the asylum program, is inherently bad. Does it need fixing, yes. But someone else pointed out, these people in many cases, are fleeing for their lives. So let’s weed out the criminals yes, but let’s not punish all people like that, just because a handful of them are psychotic criminals.

Why are the vast majority of so-called refugees young Muslim men? Where are the women and children? Where are Christian refugees? This is the case throughout Europe and is prevalent no matter what nations and regions they come from.

Asylum seekers, and a police officer, were the victims. Demonising victims is an evil thing but happens on this site quite a lot.

In the eyes of the scared, the victims don't matter, only the aggressor.

Yep, France, can be a veritable killing ground. The lives of the thousands at any given time waiting out in Calais (who refuse French offers of asylum) constantly hang in the balance.

The route to Europe is very dangerous.

yes, especially from the Mideast/central Asia to the UK. The refugees put their lives in grave danger as they pass thru such minefields as Austria, Switzerland, Germany, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, etc.

Mention in the article of The Kurdish Scottish Association does suggest there may be a Kurdish link somewhere.

On the issue of terrorism, the UK security services are at full capacity monitoring a few thousand potential terrorists when they have said they should be monitoring tens of thousands. The number was 23,000 in 2017 after a Jihadi blew himself up in the Manchester Arena and is now 43,000. Hope it doesn’t near double again in the next few years.

Best of luck to these people. They are going to need it.

Kurds lives in Iraq, north part of country is most safe in all country for years.

Kurds lives in Turkey, democratic country,NATO member and there is no war in Turkey.

On planet earth the Kurds are oppressed, mainly by Turkey.

Kurds lives also in Syria, most of country liberated by syrian arab army, these who commit some crimes have chance get asylum in next war free country/Turkey/.

On planet Earth, Syria is a dangerous place with constant ISIS attacks.

There might be another planet where Kurds are not oppressed, but it sure is not this one.

I've read elsewhere that the asylum seekers at the hotel came from various countries. For example, at least one from Malaysia.

Witnesses have also said that two of the stabbing victims were members of staff.

The media's handling of this was pretty poor. Quick to print any rumour. That's perhaps OK if you point out it's an unconfirmed rumour, but some of those rumours formed the headlines. The BBC was perhaps the worst as its initial headline was that three people had been killed.

I think we'll have to wait for the details to emerge.

I pray for them all to find peace and happiness. We are all the same, we are one. End these petty distinctions of race, creed and class.

SEMPER PAX VIVAT!

And just because a small number of these people commit such heinous acts, does not mean that the asylum program, is inherently bad.

This is a salient fact that is missing from the way people think about issues involving racial or any other identitarian differences. People are too easily treated based on immutable characteristics such as race. I am not making a judgment on the asylum policy itself - just the failure to see people doing bad things as individuals- not representative of everyone with the same demographic traits. America is currently in the midst of a social implosion over just this way of thinking.

Small update...

The man who carried out the attack and was shot and killed by police was from Sudan. He was a resident asylum seeker at the hotel.

The six injured included a policeman, two members of staff, and three asylum seekers. (I think the staff were hotel staff and not staff of the company Mears that manages asylum seekers, but not sure.) One of the injured is still in a critical condition. The police officer had been in critical condition, but no longer.

Some other residents said that the guy had shown anger the previous evening.

The greatest numbers of stabbings are by young people. Also acid attacks. Committed by both whites and blacks.

Stabbing are committed by both whites and blacks... True, but over 80% of both victims and perpetrators are black. Usually gang/ drug related.
