Moscow is lovely at this time of year.
That said, Snowden seems intent on pissing people off. Too bad - Whatever his intentions were, now he simply appears to be a lunatic. His revelations are being subsumed by his actions.
SuperLib
Great, so we're taping everyone in the world, even China. Those guys must be pretty busy.
some14some
Moments of thrill, excitement and uncertainty - till he reaches his desired detination safely.
JeanValJean
" now he simply appears to be a lunatic."
That gets old, calling those with whom you disagree lunatics, doesn't it?
Way to go, Snowden, further from the reach of the Empire and its minions.
lostrune2
Wash DC: "We'll show ours if you show yours."
Serrano
If this is true, it means the Chinese didn't cooperate with the U.S. government on this issue.
Laguna
Moscow? Ah, the liberal bastion of Putin and his poodles. It is said Moscow is simply a transit, and I hope so - for his sake.
presto345
China, including Hong Kong, don't like to be pressured or threatened by any nation.
JeanValJean
Right. It's a transit point as clearly stated. Lunacy would be staying within the confines of the USSA Empire, or within its convenient grasp or easy reach. Pfffft.
Get Real
They don't serve Cuba Libre on the Miami route..

America is paranoid after 9/11, I understand but at the same time, we, the USA can not be telling the world that we are so superior, so holier than though etc..and pulling this kind of sh!t?? I guess poor old DICK Cheney must be rolling over in his grave!!

Either you don't know what, "rolling over in his grave." means or you need to brush up on your current events...

He's a true hero
Laguna
Hong Kong - Moscow - Havana - Caracas: He is truly intending to piss some people off. Again, his actions are subsuming his message.
hoserfella
This little child is royally screwed now. Hope his 5 minute delusion of grandeur was worth it.
And so sad to see the usual naives calling him a "hero" will be screaming bloody murder after the next terrorist attack.
USNinJapan2
Wait, Caracas? Has no one told Snowden that Ecuador is the destination of choice for heroic champions of freedom and democracy?
TorafusuTorasan
Watch Snowden resurface playing for an Ozzie Guillen winter league team. Could Venezuela win the next WBC after getting a cache of MLB scouting reports?
JeanValJean
Ha ha ha ha! The next report of misinformation will have him blasting for MIR! But, what's really amusing is having the virulent defenders of totalitarianism reveal themselves. Writhing, huh?

Wow Dick Cheney is alive and well most of your facts are wrong you are so miss inform also its holy than thou not holier than though. Which side of the fence are you on. Mexico, japan, US
USNinJapan2
JeanValJean,
Enjoy this while you can. Even you must accept the reality that Snowden is going to get what's coming to him, one way or another, tomorrow, next month, or ten years from now no matter where he ends up. He had a chance at standing trial, fair or otherwise, but with every new revelation out of his mouth he's tightening the noose around his neck. He'll be lucky if he ever finds himself in an American courtroom at the rate he's going. He will never outrun this.

Are we ready to make a pivotal choice between Liberty (Privacy) vs Security?

@El
You seriously need to stop with this Cheney Obession, for real. Maybe you don't know this, but the man has a brand NEW heart. Saw him on TV the other day, looks really good, relax. You could learn from that. Focus your attention on the CURRENT admin. it'll make your debate more rational.
@USNinJapan
As I have said from the beginning, had Snowden turned himself in right away, got a lawyer and went through the legal process, I wouldn't have a problem with it, but the way he is going now is beyond suicidal, not to mention, he is looking more and more unhinged.
@Laguna
It's a very rare occasion, but yes, you are absolutely correct.
Christopher Blackwell
I am sure the government will find some way to kill him, perhaps send a drone after him or an assassin. Our government has always been good at finding ways to kill someone and we brag about it. I am glad the man did what he did for we get to find out what our government is doing to us. But he knew from the beginning his future was limited. Yes there is no question that it is illegal and I am sure he know that. If he is caught there will be all hell to pay.
But come on, how safe is are top secret information is we have it parceled out to corporations now? A secret is a secret until one other person knows it, then all bets are off. After all information is what gets sold these days at high price, including that information the government gets on all of us. We are the only people who don't get paid for it.
SuperLib
Ecuador? Really? Just don't speak out against the government and you'll be ok.

"And so sad to see the usual naives calling him a "hero" will be screaming bloody murder after the next terrorist attack."
Condoning the sacrifice any sort of privacy and individual freedoms that people fought hard for during the whole 20th century and accepting living in a Police State that sceretly oversteps the mandate given by its own people and spy on foreign sovereign friendly nation's citizen unlawfully because of a few terrorists zealots (and that's the official excuse , they'd find another if need be ) and still label naive people who find this outrageous is pretty nervy
One can act like a Wehrmacht officer of WWII watching the crimes in the rear and not saying nothing , carrying on with the quiet reserve officer life and don't take any risks , but this man , Ed Snowden , in full awareness all the consequences and powerful vested interests invlved , still decided to sacrifice everything for what he believed was morally right to tell to the people in America and in the rest of the world that want to remain free from government and corporate control , he's definetely a hero
Without brave and independent thinking men like Ed , you cannot make your society better , you can't make people of aware of what 's wrong and improve it , to reduce his action to an ego flattering adventure is missing the point of his action completely in my opinion
Czeslaw_SJS
Does he have duel citizenship to another country? I thought you couldn't get into Cuba, even for a quick stop, with a U.S. Passport unless you were Cuban.
timtak
What has Ecuador got to do with this?

Let's all salute Snowden and Assange. These are the heroes of our age. So brave to show up the usa for what it is.
bass4funk
@Umbrella
Why salute a bunch of spineless cowards? By the way, where is this so called hero of yours, Assange?? How's his life and notoriety? ROFL
As for Snowden, if he thinks he can ride off into the sunset and live happily ever after, then he is a much bigger fool than I thought.
JeanValJean
" Let's all salute Snowden and Assange. These are the heroes of our age. So brave to show up the usa for what it is."
Absolutely agree! Let's no forget previous government whistleblowers: Bradley Manning, Daniel Ellsberg, John Kiriakou, and others.
Olegek
Sorry to trouble you ,but did you agree that today US is a police state ?
