@ sabiwabi,

What?! Hamas created by Israel? Then Israel was created by Palestinians as a punching bag! Good ficton!!!

Hassan Yousef is being tortured? Is that a fact? I remember Palestinian lynch mobs torturing and killing captured Israeli soldiers on their city streets, all caught on film. That I have seen with my two eyes. Your accusation that Hassan Yousef is being tortured is just conjecture.

Hamas themselves deny these conspiracy theories of Hamas having been created by Israel and whom better than they should know? Mosab Yousef converted to Christianity, which for a Muslim is a near suicidal thing to do, perhaps especially if your father happens to also be a Hamas cleric. Also perhaps, Mr. Wabisabi, you should concentrate on the near possible rather than the far-fetched and extremely improbable because doing so might enhance your credibility. You are doing yourself and the discussion no favours by trying to defend the indefensible with reasoning that is a little too fantastic. It becomes far too difficult to maintain a serious discussion about a reality when confronted with the fantastic. The very idea that Hamas is still a charitable organisation is nonsense, how many other charities can you name that carry AK47s, send out suicide bombers and own and fire rockets at their neighbours. And kill and imprison their own people that happen to not agree with them?

The back-to-back scandals were sure to leave Hamas leaders fearful of their own and ever more painfully aware of how capable Israel is of reaching the inner circles of their organization.

Good.

The report said Mosab, who converted to Christianity, despised Hamas and acted out of ideological conviction." He's in big trouble.

Sarge,

LOL!

Sorry, should have been: "Hamas does not believe these allegations. So, it is also amusing and strange that others think they know better while at the same time continously defending Hamas.

It is so easy to ascribe marvelous attributes to the Israelis when in fact they are receiving the unintentional assistance of terminally dysfunctional adversaries.

Hamas was a charitable organization. Now they are the leaders of the people in Gaza. As such, their actions of late have been less than charitable to their own people. BTW, Hamas has never claimed they were created by Israel. I find it rather amusing and strange that others know better than Hamas themselves.

There a lot of 'probably's' and 'maybe's' in your post. Perhaps, facts would be better suited to the discussion. Hamas does not believe these allegations. So, it is also amusing and strange that others think they know better.

Personally, I believe it is possible and true. There are spies of many countries all over the world. It would be unrealistic to think they would not be among Hamas as well.

Sounds like an interesting read anyway.

I highly doubt there will be much saying people were wrong if they were wrong in thinking Mossad was involved. I remember years ago some regular guy was blamed for a bomb during the Atlanta Olympics in the US. The man was fried in the press on the front pages of newspapers and on TV. He was innocent. That was in the back of most newspapers and was barely mentioned on TV, at least here in Japan and from what I saw on the internet.

While it was certainly originally supported by some Israelis as a charitable organization, Hamas is not an Israeli creation.

Obviously, If Israel created Hamas, it would never be officially declared. BTW, I agree with you that Hamas is indeed a charitable organization.

But then again, maybe this guy is only trying to protect his father who is probably being viciously tortured in an Israeli prison (which is apparently legal in Israel).

It will interesting if it comes out Hamas was also behind the Dubai assassination. What will all the Mossad blamers say?

That would indeed be interesting and so unusual. They will probably say that some European intelligence officers, the Dubai investigators, and some senior Israeli officials, who were all convinced the Mossad was behind the murder, have been wrong.

If the spy's craft can be considered an art I would have to say the Mossad have taken it to the most rarefied heights imaginable.

You obviously haven't read about the Dubai case. Otherwise you couldn't possibly think this. :)

It will interesting if it comes out Hamas was also behind the Dubai assassination. What will all the Mossad blamers say? Probably that Israel put Hamas up to killing a Hamas member. That is how far fetched the accusations seem to go.

How awesome is Israel?

So awesome they can turn the son of the Hamas founder.

If the spy's craft can be considered an art I would have to say the Mossad have taken it to the most rarefied heights imaginable.

In groping for a suitable analogy or description I find myself saying they are espionage's Great Masters, who bring to the execution and performance of their oeuvre a kind of wabi sabi that leaves slack-jawed all who look upon their works.

"the disclosures hurt Hamas' image"

The last thing Hamas needed was to have its image hurt.

Or as Mike Rivero says: "This is the latest aspect to an old story. HAMAS was CREATED by Shin Bet as a counter to Yassir Arafat's PLO, to prevent Palestine from uniting under a single government. As long as there was a PLO and HAMAS, Israel could ignore demands for peace talks by shrugging their shoulders and saying they did not know who to talk to! And of course, HAMAS early violence only aided Israel's PR war against Palestine.

Then Arafat was assassinated and Israel, repeating the mistake the US made with the Mujaheddin in post-USSR Afghanistan, cut off all support. HAMAS, rather than simply wither away, decided they were in fact now the government of the Palestinian (occupied) state and started to act like it.

In response, Israel again set up a puppet opposition group, Abbas' Palestinian Authority, to play the same divide and conquer games with the Palestinian people."

I wonder if he having his father in Israeli prison, and probably tortured, have anything to do with his alleged spying or his recent comments.

I also wonder if the function of Hamas all along was just to give Israel excuses to attack the Palestinian people.

Good for him. Saved hundreds of lives. People that Hamas wanted to murder. I can't see this anything but a good thing.
