There's a difference between the ICJ genocide charges against Russia, and the genocide charges against Israel.

The first is entirely speculative, and involves a lot of 'mind reading' about 'Putin's intended course of future action' the second is factual, involves forthright statements by Netanyahu about the intended goal of the action that Israel has been engaged in for 2 months.

No mind reading about it. Children with relatives in Free Ukraine showed up on Russian Television with their Russian abductors.

And while the Israeli regime and its foreign backers will try and delay and drag things out, the ICJ is going to feel that allowing the process to be dragged out until it is essentially irrelevant will discredit it in the eyes of 2/3rds of the world, the way American manipulation and corruption has so many other international institutions.

I'm sorry the UN doesn't like your heroes. Perhaps because they are actually scum.

The charges against Putin are based on a knee-jerk reaction based on disdain for that leader, an over-the-top emotional response fed by the media, a quasi-prejudice with racial undertones missing when invasions happen in other quarters, lies and blatant western double standards.

The charges against Putin are based on what he said and what appeared on Russian Television. I'll take the trained lawyer's assessments anyday. As a totally consistent person, I take it you will either say we need to stand by Israel or we need to stand by Ukraine.

Netanyahu and his henchmen have said some pretty unsavoury things. Then they went and did it.

Oops. Guess not.

What a strategy kill off Hamas leadership LOL what a joke, for every Hamas warhorse killed there will be brother ,son, daughter, cousins, uncles, brother in-laws grand children all of them wanting to rid the Jew from Palestine by any ways possible, and their first way will be joining Hamas. You actually think which so laughable that by destroying Gaza and it citizen will stop them, There is no turning back now by Palestinian population and the muslim world of ridding their world of the Jew, the middle east. Both their foes will have to be more than watchful for 11/9 strategies and an army strength of suicide bombers striking anywhere any time. Do you thinks the people pulling the string are going to get away with it, with the USA voting public. No way. Israel will be looking for statehood somewhere and that looks like USA. If the USA don't bail out after these next election this will by USA future.

"A textbook case of genocide" in the words of Raz Segal an Israeli scholar of Holocaust and genocide studies.

https://jewishcurrents.org/a-textbook-case-of-genocide

The definition of genocide has more to do with intent than it does the scale of casualties and civilian deaths. Segal outlines Israel's long history of genocidal intent against the Palestinians in his article.

Israel does not recognise the ICC, like it main collaborator the USA, And if Netanhayu is ever convicted ( A big If ) of any war crimes, it will be forgotten about, just like Bushes in the Iraq war. Putin is also on the list of those wanted, but as long as he stay in a safe country he will be a free man.

Well obviously you failed because SA courts have nothing to do with anything!

I didn’t fail, you asked me a question and I answered.

If you think Elon Musk's opinion has any real value then you should rethink things.

His opinions are no different than you or mines.

Seems he has a problem with Jews as much as Black South Africans.

Well, look where he grew up. I can’t speak on his childhood experiences.

So trying to quote Musk in order to discredit the charges made by SA seems a little strange.

To you perhaps.

Yes.

the war will end when the US stops giving weapons to Israel

The war will end when the majority of the Hamas leadership is sent into retirement, permanently.

Well Done South Africa, has more dignity than the rest of the so called Free World who not only being silent but Aiding and fulling this Genocide.

7 ( +9 / -2 )

If these killings are not a Genocide, then I don't know what a Genocide is!?

5 ( +8 / -3 )

Well we can expect that added to SA list of crimes by Israel will be the latest arrest of 34 people and the active search for 12 more all members of Mossad in Turkey.

Seems Israel against international law sent "hit squads" to Turkey to hunt Hamas, Palestinians and israeli opposition.

This too will probably be added to charges.

Their silence is damning.

It sure is.

Besides its ethical stance on the slaughter of civilian lives, South Africa is also paying back Israelis for their longtime support of the vicious Apartheid regime that oppressed and killed millions of Africans in wars of aggression on the African continent.

How about now?

Eylon Levy, an official in the Israeli prime minister’s office, on Tuesday accused South Africa of “giving political and legal cover” to the Oct. 7 attack by Hamas that triggered Israel’s campaign.

Kettle meet stove!

During the 1970s through the 1980s Israel was doing everything from business to military cooperation and development By 1986, Israel was the only so-called democratic state that did not take part in most international sanctions imposed on apartheid South Africa by the international community.

Which tells us a lot about Israel's morals or lack there of.

*The convention defines genocide as acts such as killings “committed with intent to (1) destroy, (2) in whole or in part, (3) a national, ethnical, racial or religious group.”*

Couldn't be plainer, simpler, no ambiguity whatsoever, and the above checks all three boxes. The convention was not written to protect just Jewish lives post-Holocaust. The most important stipulation is that action must be taken to intervene BEFORE a genocide takes place, NOT AFTER. And yet, after 3 months of bombing 24/7 homes and infrastructure and killing 30,000 and harming 100,000 people, not a peep has been heard from the usual suspects. Their silence is damning. Besides its ethical stance on the slaughter of civilian lives, South Africa is also paying back Israelis for their longtime support of the vicious Apartheid regime that oppressed and killed millions of Africans in wars of aggression on the African continent.

This will go nowhere.

The ICC needs to indict quickly or clear Putin. It cannot cloak itself in hypocrisy.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Knowing first hand what apartheid and genocide means in South Africa, bringing this case at the United Nations' top court means a lot.

The Zionist state has to go and pay for its crimes against humanity. Even then, history will never forget what the criminal state of Israel did to the Palestinian people.

8 ( +11 / -3 )

Can anyone enlighten me as to what interest SA has with Gaza/Israel in order to raise such a request that Palestine could have done themselves ?

Genocide is a crime against humanity, giving every country standing to bring such cases. Palestine is a signatory to the genocide convention and could have brought the case themselves, but having a third state bring do it lends it more gravity. There are also countries such as the US which attempt to deny the sovereignty of the Palestinian peoples within the international system, but this controversy becomes moot if SA brings the case.
