I had dog meat in Korea about 20 years ago. Meh, I wouldn't miss it if I was Korean. Just about every other meat is better.

Good to see the SK government has banned the barbaric practice, as of 2027. The cruelty inflicted on these dogs is disgusting.

South Korea has more than 1,500 dog breeding farms and more than 200 dog slaughter houses. Some 2,300 restaurants still serve dog meat.

Sadly, old habits die hard. I'd expect lots of dumb, backwards people in some regions of SK will continue this practice underground. The government should threaten huge fines and online naming & shaming individuals caught eating dog meat.

Sadly there is little to no demand for adoption for these meat dogs, since they are almost exclusively Tosa Inu breeds, too large to be kept at typical urban homes of Korea.

Rescued Japanese Mastiffs available for adoption

The Humane Society for Southwest Washington (HSSW) will begin adoption efforts to find homes for 58 Japanese Mastiffs after rescuers took the animals from a dog-meat farm in South Korea.

The Japanese Mastiff, or Tosa, is a large breed dog averaging 80 to 130 pounds, but exhibits a calm, gentle temperament, according to the Humane Society.

At 80 ~ 130 lbs, Tosa Inu breeds are just too large for typical homes, I don't know what the solution is.

If it was Shiba Inu then yes it's much easier to find homes, but it's Tosa.

I look at that poor dog in that dirty cage and it breaks my heart. Dogs are such intelligent, loyal and loving animals. Every one of these wonderful creatures deserves a loving home.

Always amuses me when people cry outrage over breeding certain types of animals for food, but have no qualms when it comes to others.

I watched a video on SK’ youtube channel where the police together with animal rescue people collected evidence and did a rescue operation at one of such farms. The secret cam showed how dogs were kept in small cages with their puppies shaking like crazy while watching other dogs being electrocuted or hanged up or choked. If thats not banned this world is soon will face its end.
