More than 86 percent of South Korea's 51 million people have been fully vaccinated, with the majority also receiving a booster shot.

About 22,700 people in the country have died from the coronavirus -- a 0.13 percent fatality rate, one of the world's lowest.

Basic math with the above stats indicate that 7,140,000 South Koreans have chosen to remain unvaccinated.

And the overwhelming vast majority of them have survived the Covid pandemic without any vaccines.

Good, the likelihood of becoming infected while outdoors is incredibly low and there’s no need for a mask.

High vaccination rate and mandatory mask did not prevent anything. Korea had up to 400000 infections a day . The

Hoping Japan moves on as well. Last couple of weeks, I've stopped wearing masks in shopping centers, conbinis, etc. It was a bit nerve racking at first, but no one seems to have a problem with it. And I'm usually by myself, not in a group talking out loud. For the record, I'm trippled vaxxed and I take other precautionary measures such as temp checks.

While that may be true, it only holds if one is living in the outdoors away from all civilization. You can be "outside" without a mask, but you will encounter other people, you may want to enter a store, bus or train. So you're going to have to carry a mask with you regardless.

intelligent approach perhaps the ending of mask mandate ?

The South Koreans would rather wear masks than vaccinate .

Japan didn't need a mask mandate but why bother comparing Japan to South Korea anyway.

I stopped wearing a mask anywhere many weeks ago, except my job because they demand it, unfortunately.

It's horrifically ridiculous.

My kid would’ve failed basic math and quite possibly basic English if they gave that answer to exam questions with the details from the article.
