“those jagoffs in the House”

Everybody’s thinking it, thank you for saying it Senator Fetterman.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

Yeah, not so much.

“My Kevin” couldn’t pass wind in an all you can eat bean shop.

He’s “not intelligent” and a large part of his goober caucus are just fine with watching things burn.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

The goobers are mad that Biden handed them their collective ass on the debt ceiling, so they want to renege on the deal.

They don’t care about the country. They don’t even care about the GQP being held accountable for shutting down the government as they will be (as they have always been), because their gerrymandered districts guarantee that short of humping a man naked (Cawthorn) or maybe giving their date a rub and tug at a community play (bobble-head Boebert), they’ll be back to troll responsible government.

They are not serious people.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

Another Republican shutdown.

If I were Fetterman the last thing I would do is comment on anything.

his all-but-ungovernable House Republican majority

Apt description.

9 ( +9 / -0 )

The goobers are mad that Biden handed them their collective ass on the debt ceiling, so they want to renege on the deal.

What?

They don’t care about the country.

Says the people that champion the US in foreign wars and celebrates open borders and could care less if most Americans can afford gas, put food on the table, or stop the out of control rising crime just to scratch the tip of the iceberg.

They don’t even care about the GQP being held accountable for shutting down the government as they will be (as they have always been),

Because they should capitulate to the extortionists on the left and print more money because it’s not theirs, so why care?

because their gerrymandered districts guarantee

What?

They are not serious people.

Wait, but this current administration is??? ROFL!

-7 ( +1 / -8 )

Fetterman is much more understandable.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

Fetterman is much more understandable.

He's certainly capable of using logic. And humor.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

No matter what he does, "My Kevin" becomes "Bye-Kevin"....he's done, put a fork in him...

He's being tortured and sacrificed by his own Repubs...the handful of far-right kook in the Freedom Caucus, which really should be called Fascist Clowns...

He appointed three of them to come up with a bill, they did, and then the rest of the FC refused to go along with it...

"Over the weekend, a few Republican members from both the conservative House Freedom Caucus and the moderate Main Street Caucus cut a deal on a short-term government funding bill to avert a shutdown at the end of September. The three co-authors from the Freedom Caucus include its chairman, Pennsylvania Rep. Scott Perry, as well as Florida Rep. Byron Donalds and Texas Rep. Chip Roy. But the Freedom Caucus' own members refuse to support the bill"

https://www.yahoo.com/news/freedom-caucus-outraged-freedom-caucus-204304216.html

Then you have Gaetz calling Kevin a "lying dog" and "small pathetic man", Sparz calling him a "weak Speaker", and Kevin cursing both of them out....

"It's a complete an utter $%^&show" - not my words, those of Repub Lindsey Graham...

https://news.yahoo.com/tshow-house-gop-open-war-135145669.html

Well stated Lindsey - the only accurate thing you've said since 2016 when you stated "if we nominate Donald Trump, it will destroy our party"...

5 ( +5 / -0 )

My personal favorite part is where The Hair gets all uppity and tries to do the tough guy thing with his own members.

After 2 years with his pants around his ankles for the goober Caucus, his indignation is akin to the Tinder “date” that gets angry about not being respected.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

Side Bar: Matt “Venmo” Gaetz is going to run for Governor of the “great” state of FL in 26.

As such, he has no interest in making government work. His interest is in clicks and eye poking (when he’s not allegedly paying underage girls for “companionship” and indulging in recreational powders with donors that is).

4 ( +4 / -0 )

As such, he has no interest in making government work.

Because he doesn’t want to play hardball with Democrats or that he is fully committed to his constituents?

His interest is in clicks and eye poking (when he’s not allegedly paying underage girls

Yeah, the left gave up on that one, they tried and failed miserably

for “companionship” and indulging in recreational powders with donors that is).

If Dems want to waste more taxpayer unsuccessfully and continue to go after this guy that helps Gaetz to prove how nutty the Dems truly are.

“Members are taking this bull by the horns, doing what leadership failed to do to try and chart a best path forward on how we can get to 218 (votes),” said Rep. Bob Good, R-Va., who is a part of the House Freedom Caucus.

Exhibit B of the Freedom Caucus ethos of "spending for me but not for thee". Robbing Peter to pay Paul as it were.

In 2016, Good voted to give Abbott Nutrition, a subsidiary of Abbott Laboratories, a $567,000 corporate subsidy to help fund its expansion. In the same year, Good and the board voted to hike ambulance fees by about 26 percent and to allow garnishing wages from Campbell County residents who did not pay for their ambulance rides.

Good (R),filed amended disclosures dating to 2018 after facing questions about why he had reported no assets, unusual for a longtime businessman. He now reports between $213,000 and $1.65 million in assets and unearned income.

Another member of the FC who wants austerity cuts to social programs and to lecture the public about financial probity but loves giving corporate welfare to companies he has an interest in.

With the FC you can do this all day.

Fetterman is much more understandable.

I’m not talking about grade school, I’m talking about the average American

I wouldn’t get into a debate about being consistent, cognitive or erudite I I were you, “ditto boi” (so glad I am not).

Fetterman was elected by his people.

"It's a complete an utter $%^&show" - not my words, those of Repub Lindsey Graham...

Well Lindsay Graham knows his way around a $%^&show. He's been pivot man a few times.

After 2 years with his pants around his ankles for the goober Caucus, his indignation is akin to the Tinder “date” that gets angry about not being respected.

Oh my goodness, thank you for a good hard laugh ^_^

5 ( +6 / -1 )

There is a proposed law being floated in the US Senate that would force both houses of Congress to remain in session every day a budget is late until a budget is passed and would automatically continue funding the government at existing levels until a new budget was complete, thus eliminating the possibility of a government shut down. I think it is a very good idea. Senator Johnson is saying he would lift his objection if such a bill were passed.

Defends Gaetz - clear sign he agrees with him that McCarthy is a lying dog - a flip from yesterday...

The Fetterman poll

The Quinnipiac poll surveyed 1,584 registered Pennsylvania voters between June 22 and June 26. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 2.5 percentage points.

You have posted numerous times you don't believe in polls.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

After 2 years with his pants around his ankles for the goober Caucus, his indignation is akin to the Tinder “date” that gets angry about not being respected.

Of course you have to understand the district he represents has among the highest rates of drug addiction and STDs and one of the lowest college completion rates in the state of California. He is a product of his environment. As some of us say about California, you have the Bay Area to the north, LA to the south and Texas in between. I call his home district Kern County Mississippi. The banjos are loud and people think "Deliverance" was a comedy.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

You have posted numerous times you don't believe in polls.

Uhh, that’s not what I was talking about. Nice try…

The Quinnipiac University survey found that 50% of Keystone State voters disapprove of Fetterman’s job performance, while just 39% approve. Another 10% said they had no opinion.

The 53-year-old Fetterman has the same job approval rating among Pennsylvanians as President Biden, with 57% disapproving of the commander-in-chief.

By contrast, Fetterman’s fellow Senate Democrat, Bob Casey has a positive net job approval rating (44% approve, 32% disapprove, 24% no opinion).

Pennsylvania’s Democratic governor, Josh Shapiro, also gets high marks from his constituents, with 57% of voters approving of his work and just 23% disapproving.

So his other fellow Democrats are beating him in every poll.

-8 ( +0 / -8 )

Fetterman was elected by his people. If he fails to represent them by the time of the next election then probably he will be out.

So now you like polls.

I checked FoxNew.com today and yesterday and I think I understand part of the problem. This story is really, really hard to find. It's not anywhere on the front page. You have to navigate to politics, then scroll down 3 levels to find one article. And we're 10 days away from a shutdown with no hope in sight.

Now consider that a vast majority of conservatives get their news from Fox News and only Fox News, that should tell you how informed the average conservative is about this story. How about Newsmax? Nothing on the front page at all as well. JT's had more coverage than those two news outlets combined.

So the next time you run across a conservative and they're saying really weird things or just using retread catchphrases about the right and left, keep in mind that they might not be trolling you. They might literally have no idea about the GOP Civil War going on right now.

8 ( +8 / -0 )

50% of Keystone State voters disapprove of Fetterman’s job performance, while just 39% approve. Another 10% said they had no opinion.

And yet he managed to beat Dr. Oz, Less intelligent Hannibal’s chosen candidate like a dog….

I think there’s a lesson there.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

Fetterman only needs to worry about his voters and plenty of time before his next election.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

When it comes to the left dismantling the country, culture, law, institutions, and civil liberties, I find very little humor in that.

A line you could never explain.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

Back on topic.

The post is about Speaker Kevin McCarthy and a GOP government shutdown. Not about Fetterman.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

Fetterman's the better man and McCarthyism 2 will fare no better than the antics of that eponymous fraudster, Joe. The karmic reckoning for Kevin and the rest of the GOP loony tunes is drawing nigh.

8 ( +8 / -0 )

Couple of huge developments in MAGA-world today;

ABC News reported on Monday that a longtime assistant to the former president told federal investigators that Trump wrote to-do lists for her on White House documents with visible classified markings. Trump allegedly told the former aide, Molly Michael, “You don’t know anything about the boxes,” after learning the FBI wanted to interview her last year.

https://www.yahoo.com/news/chris-christie-pinpoints-very-worst-092723328.html

Using classified documents as note pads is bad - but telling a potential witness to lie under oath when questioned by the FBI? That's textbook witness tampering and clear obstruction of justice.

One of Donald Trump’s former lawyers on Wednesday denied flipping against him in the Georgia indictment, despite new court documents revealing otherwise. Turns out that was because Wood agreed to cooperate with Willis’s team. “L. Lin Wood is a witness for the State in the present case,” Willis explained in a court filing.

https://www.yahoo.com/news/maga-lawyer-lin-wood-turns-142939667.html

So another one of Trump's lawyers has flipped and cooperating with prosecutors...

McCarthy better start cozying up to DeSantis, Haley, or Pence...groveling to Trump is a lost cause...

6 ( +7 / -1 )

So despite what I heard one Republican member of the House refer to as "adult puberty" where a "lot of bad decisions are being made", the talk in the Capitol is of a group of centrist Democrats and Republicans working with Mr. McCarthy to craft a compromise bi-partisan spending bill and in exchange promise to vote for Mr. McCarthy if his speakership is challenged. The terms of such a deal are being kept secret and probably won't be revealed until the Republicans have worn out all of their own options, knowing that anything coming purely from the Republican side won't pass muster in the Senate. What compromises Mr.McCarthy has to make to gain Democratic support remain to be seen but the promise to support him if his speakership is challenged could cut the nads off the six or seven members of the Free-Dumb Caucsucus who are holding everyone else hostage.

7 ( +9 / -2 )

And we're 10 days away from a shutdown with no hope in sight.

So the Republicans should forgo their promise to their constituents and find the beast of frivolous out of control spending? I think not. That would be irresponsible, and I’m glad Kevin is trying at least.

Now consider that a vast majority of conservatives get their news from Fox News and only Fox News,

Wrong.

that should tell you how informed the average conservative is about this story.

Very well in fact. Because unlike other networks that have a one-sided point of political viewpoints, they have various, even the radical lefts viewpoint is presented and the viewers can decide as to who is the nut job.

How about Newsmax? Nothing on the front page at all as well.

https://www.newsmax.com/politics/carlos-gimenez-government-shutdown/2023/09/14/id/1134552/

JT's had more coverage than those two news outlets combined.

Yeah, let’s not go there, but seriously, if you look, it’s there, take your pick, dozens of conservative news outlets are talking about it.

So the next time you run across a conservative and they're saying really weird things or just using retread catchphrases about the right and left, keep in mind that they might not be trolling you. They might literally have no idea about the GOP Civil War going on right now.

Or it could also mean that liberals that do engage have only limited knowledge, political ignorance or access to the plethora of information that is actually out there that is and caters to conservatives.

-7 ( +1 / -8 )

So the next time you run across a conservative and they're saying really weird things or just using retread catchphrases about the right and left, keep in mind that they might not be trolling you. They might literally have no idea about the GOP Civil War going on right now.

Sigh. True. I recall sitting in a barber shop waiting my turn and the proprietor had Faux News on. Two of their talking heads were chatting about economic matters, I don't recall the exact subject now as this was probably six or seven years ago, and one says to the other "of course everyone knows .....blahblahblah".. Whatever it was. But I was flabbergasted because I have degrees in Economics, not just a BA but an MA too and what they said was exactly the opposite of what every economist knows to be true, and it was something really fundamental from first year econ, not something complex we studied or researched later on in grad school. For me it was an example of the kind of complete falsehoods that get passed off for the truth on Faux News.

House GOP reports progress in spending talks as some holdouts relent

https://thehill.com/homenews/house/4215464-house-gop-reports-progress-in-spending-talks-as-some-holdouts-relent/

"Norman (R-S.C.) said a key factor that pushed him to accept the new plan was the threat of moderate Republicans working with Democrats to force a vote on an alternative plan that would be far less conservative. Members of the bipartisan Problem Solvers Caucus are working on an alternative agreement."

Getting interesting. Let's hope the moderates win out for the good of the country.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

He really shouldn’t with all due respect. Even Biden makes more sense and that’s a serious, serious rib pull.

We shall see.

And the McCarthy-Gaetz little girl cat fight got worse today....

“Now this is a woman who said that she was going to be returning to her family because they needed her and Kevin called her a quitter,” he continued. “Meanwhile, when a man in Congress actually left in the middle of his term, Chris Stewart, Kevin McCarthy didn’t call him a quitter. So he’s been reckless and unhinged and rattled and misogynist in how he’s attacked those who are making a substantive argument.”

https://www.yahoo.com/news/gaetz-calls-mccarthy-unhinged-accuses-163129785.html

So in addition to being a "lying dog" and a "small pathetic man", Gaetz has now called Kevin "reckless". "unhinged", "rattled", and a "misogynist"....

As all our MAGA-warriors here defend Gaetz, it's clear they agree with him...

Hey Repubs, you proud your Speaker is an "unhinged, misogynist lying dog?"

4 ( +5 / -1 )

John Fetterman is probably closer to the average working stiff than anyone else in the US Senate today. Yeah he has flaws. Everyone in the Senate has flaws but he is honest about his. What he has that too many on the right do not have is empathy for working stiffs and the poor. It's not phony. He is what you see, the good and the warts. He isn't rich and he isn't shilling for some big corporation.

7 ( +8 / -1 )

He really shouldn’t with all due respect.

He makes a lot more sense than the typical idiotic rightwing comments here, that's not really saying much I suppose.

Even Biden makes more sense and that’s a serious, serious rib pull.

Nope. His comment made perfect sense.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

bass: So the Republicans should forgo their promise to their constituents and find the beast of frivolous out of control spending? I think not. That would be irresponsible

Once again, you don't understand the current situation. It's the hardliners vs Kevin within the GOP. The negotiations with Democrats haven't even begun yet because the GOP hasn't been able to agree on a plan to present to the Democrats. So, once again, it's Republican vs Republican, not Republican vs Democrat.

and I’m glad Kevin is trying at least.

No, you aren't. You're on the side of the hardliners. You want them to win and Kevin to lose because Kevin's spending numbers are higher than theirs are. If you need me to explain your position to you more, just let me know. But you definitely aren't on Kevin's side for this particular battle.

Really the only thing you need to understand is that this is Republican vs. Republican for their budget to present to Democrats, which hasn't happened yet. The Democrats are busy on the sidelines laughing at this whole mess.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

That apparently is not the case. There is a group of centrist Democrats calling themselves the New Democratic Coalition, a centrist Republican group calling themselves the Republican Governance Group and a bipartisan group called the Problem Solvers Caucus who are in negotiations with Kevin McCarthy right now.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

Once again, you don't understand the current situation.

I think it's the other way around.

It's the hardliners vs Kevin within the GOP. The negotiations with Democrats haven't even begun yet because the GOP hasn't been able to agree on a plan to present to the Democrats.

We already know the Democrats are not that knowledgeable when it comes to spending because it's not their money and besides, if they don't have it, just raise taxes and print more, that is painfully obvious.

So, once again, it's Republican vs Republican, not Republican vs Democrat.

In the end, it is the Republican vs Democrat fiscal...or lack of insanity.

No, you aren't. You're on the side of the hardliners.

Yes, I am and yes, I am.

You want them to win and Kevin to lose because Kevin's spending numbers are higher than theirs are.

Wrong.

If you need me to explain your position to you more, just let me know.

That's OK, I grew up in Socialist California, I know, but thanks anyway.

But you definitely aren't on Kevin's side for this particular battle.

I am on his side 100%

The Democrats are busy on the sidelines laughing at this whole mess.

That won't last, ever see Hakeem's face? He never looks happy, and never, wonder why...lol

Kevin is a SINO where the S stands for Speaker and there is about as much chance that he gets a deal to keep the government open as there is that the orange man actually weighs 215.

The government is going to shut down because he runs a gaggle of buffoons and the GQP is going to get blamed for it as they rightly should.

What a clown show.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Not really, look at YouTube, X, and other social media outlets. hilarious!

What part of the following doesn’t make sense to you?

Fetterman on Wednesday upped the ante: “If those jagoffs in the House stop trying to shut our government down, and fully support Ukraine, then I will save democracy by wearing a suit on the Senate floor next week,” he said in a statement.

lincolman: Truth. I think he may understand this is a Repub vs Repub in-fight, but just can't admit it.

I thought he understood a few days ago and was just trolling us, but I've changed my mind. I told him this war is Republican vs Republican and the first word out of his mouth was, "Democrats." That's not normal; it's a mental tick. Tell him a Republican shot another Republican and he'll talk about Democrats first thing.

I think he has a mental block on anything that involves criticizing Republicans and his tick takes over and he shuts down. From there it's just lashing out at Democrats as a coping mechanism that allows him to avoid reality since he can't manage.

That's to say I think it's biological, not a conscious choice on his part.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

What part of the following doesn’t make sense to you?

All of it.

The government is going to shut down because he runs a gaggle of buffoons and the GQP is going to get blamed for it as they rightly should.

So be it. I doubt it will come to that, but you never know

Do a Google search for "socialist states in America" and it's the top result. That's probably how he got it. Most likely he hasn't read it.

I lived it, so it's true, I get it, you think the taxpayer should pay for laziness and when that money runs out like it is in many of these socialist states they quickly realize that working actually for a living and earning a real wage is the right way of dealing with daily life and social issues.

But as long as rich libs are comfy living off the taxpayer, I just don't expect them to understand anything.

OK, buddy. Hope you feel better after saying that. We're all here for you tonight.

If this is what the GQP plan for being the governing party is, they should fear the elections next year.

One of their own said it wasn't governance, it was stupidity. Something along the lines of "This is what happens when you run non-serious idiots for Congress."

Fortunately, we won't have to worry about Bobble-head Boebert much longer because he is about to do a Cawthorn. And Matt Venmo Geatz is about to leave to run for Gov. of FL, so in addition to not having to shield our eyes from the sun reflecting off his billboard of a head, he will be the people of FL's problem.

Who knows? Maybe Trump really will be stupid enough to choose Jewish Space Laser Karen for the VP slot. Lord knows she is stupid enough to accept.

Then we would be rid of her too!

Then throw out the employers of neo-nazis, the scammers like Santos and the merely stupid like that goober from Kentucky and we have got ourselves a workable House!

There will always be those Americans who believe there are socialists and communists in the midst. America is a 100% capitalist country with the world's largest number of billionaires, but only 6 are blacks. The largest gap between the very rich and the very poor.

Another government shutdown will mean the loss of salary for thousands of workers. Some the other day made the claim the GOP is now the part of the working people.

Thank GOD for all the successful Capitalists from so many different entrepreneurial endeavors that they have time to post habitually on a 2nd tier chat thread!

What a relief.

Not believe, live it and then there are those (I included) that want no part of it and left to a place that doesn’t push it.

America is a 100% capitalist country

Yes, with more people pushing the socialist agenda and in some states like my own former state of California have implement it successfully and the results have been devastating.

Another government shutdown will mean the loss of salary for thousands of workers. Some the other day made the claim the GOP is now the part of the working people.

The same people that voted to an end of massive spending.

OK, buddy. Hope you feel better

I didn’t feel bad to begin with, you ok?

We're all here for you tonight.

Feeling is mutual.

Gosh darn those Americans who believe that!

I put them in the same category as those who are not American yet are obsessed with commenting on Americans.

The US is not a socialist state and where and how did Japan creep into the conversation??

I think it’s the other way around, relax, relax.

He never reads the links he posts.

Had no idea you were sitting on my shoulder.

Nothing to admit, I was very clear, I didn't **sparse** words.

Plain English indeed...and from a former journalist...

You didn’t get it as usual, nothing formal. Lol

Um, www.japantoday.com? That ring a bell for you?

I bet Fetterman would be able to answer that one no problem.
