The title of the article is very misleading.
Bob Fosse
How many Russians do you think have read or even heard of the Lancet?
Ah_so
A number of countries do not give it equivalence to the other vaccines.
And the Lancet is not quite as gushing in its praise as you imagine:

Fixed it for you, B. No thanks needed.
Alex
Indeed. You are just an idiot.

brilliant!

Many factors here, quality of the vaccine, disinformation spread by their own government….
Thry don’t have the best scientists, they don’t even have the 2nd, 3rd of 4th best scientists, so anything which the government tries to peddle will never accepted by the Russian people!!!

Actually if you read/watch Russian news, they often refer to Lancet.
But with antivaxxers no matter how big of a journal/person says that "vaccine A - good", they will probably not change the "vaccine - bad" mindset.

When it comes to vaccines (and their choice of leaders), it seems clear Russians and the Repub Party share the same views....
Fighto!
Russia is in a world of trouble with so many anti-vaxxers, a dud local vaccine, freezing weather already upon them, and a deeply corrupt government that simply does not care.
Alex
What does it have to do with the vaccine?

Is Sputnik worst than western vaccines, or are the Russians smarter than most westerners?
virusrex
The Lancet do not say Sputnik is highly effective and safe, the authors that published an article there do, but since they refuse to share the raw data from the trials (as the rules of publication clearly stipulate) this is not even a reliable source by now.
No, being infected do not automatically means they are immune, reports have showed that reinfections can happen, and sometimes with a much worse disease.
The situation they are living right now is clear proof that the second option is not true, the lack of data makes impossible to compare Sputnik with any other vaccine, but the fact that the Russians refuse to let any raw data be available for examination by the professionals of the world (something other vaccines have readily done) makes the safety and efficacy of the vaccine dubious to say the least.

@ulysses
Despite the disinformation spread by some foreign governments and posters the quality of Sputnik is very good, dozens of countries approved and use it. My acquaintance who works with the Mexican embassy in Tokyo told me the whole staff of the embassy was vaccinated with Sputnik. They had a choice to take Moderna or Pfizer, but preferred Sputnik, asked the Russian embassy to share some.
The problem in Russia is not vaccine, it's the large number of staunch anti-vaxxers. Same for many countries.
@Fighto!
Anti-vaxxers - correct, the rest is not. Local vaccine works, freezing weather has no relation to the problem of COVID, and the Russian government is no more corrupt then any other government.
Bob Fosse
I’m glad you agree the vaccines are safe and that the problem lies with the antivaxxers. The problem is that Russia has a larger number of antivaxxers than most other countries.
Local vaccine works. Ok. But they aren’t taking it. So….
Russian government is no more corrupt than any other? It appears a significant number of Russians disagree with you.
Asakaze
I’m glad you agree the local vaccine works. For some JT posters this simple idea is unbearable.
So what? Anti-vaxxers won't take any vaccine - local, foreign, just any.
Do you have statistics to support this claim? Sure many Russians are not happy with their government (and name me a country where there is no discontent, where all people are happy with their government). But the results of all elections tell any unbiased observer that the vast majority of Russians support Putin and don't see their government as corrupt, ineffective or.... (put here any other word Western media likes to use when describe Russia).
Asakaze
No need to bang on about Sputnik or Pfizer or Moderna, because you won't convince the anti-vaxxers, yes. What's your point?
Yes, every country has discontent, yes that’s a good thing, yes Russia has discontent. So, what's your point?
It seems you want to prove something but don't know what exactly and how exactly do it. Your response here is, to be polite, ridiculous.
