Putin probably demanded as an excuse for that deadly friendly fire some substantial development hints directly from the source in China , otherwise a few flight parameters would have re-programmed to direction Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou. Well, that kind of vaccine developments surely works efficiently too. lol

What a silly article.  Whoever wrote this is a deluded believer in the whole Russia myth.  Russia is a second rate power - sure it has nukes but so what.  No rational actor is ever going to use them anyway.

Bolster geopolitical influence? The vaccine?

Bosh....nothing beats his con-job of a section of the US population to elect his puppet and failed businessman on 2016...

Hopefully the vaccine is effective, developing countries need vaccines too.

But authorities have indicated that only two million doses will be produced in the country by the end of 2020 -- well below what is needed to protect some 145 million Russians when two doses are required per person.

The tsars and Stalin had food tasters. Putin, who's said he won't take the vaccine, now has about 1,000,000 of his fellow countrymen to 'taste' it.

The developers of Sputnik V have not published original data from the trial despite requests from scientists.

Control the information: a continuation of Iron Curtain practices.

My country is friendly with Russia so Sputnik trials are going on and the vaccine will be available in a few months time. But I would rather wait for Moderna or Pfizer as and when the mRNA vaccines become available.

Russian one is based on extensive Ebola/HIV research. American fast track one on putting monkey DNA in human body.

which do you trust?

It's just pure vodka the in the jab

Dear Leader Putin doesn't share your patriotic trust bb

@Goodlucktoyou

which do you trust?

It's not a matter of trust, it's a matter of political obedience. Western satellite countries must pay colonial tax to their masters and enrich the Western Big Pharma. All satellites will be pressured to buy their stuff, and no rival product will be tolerated. Interesting to note that countries with more or less independent foreign policy, like India, Brasil or Hungary, opted for the Russian vaccine.

Very impressive knowledge of medicine. Now tell us about Zeneca stuff, is it gin and tonic?

Thanks for putting your username to bed.

One more down.

The Moderna vaccine is very promising though it would take a brave person to take it without more research. The Russian vaccine is very safe and effective according to the Lancet Medical journal. The Pfizer vaccine looks like sickening and killing almost the same % as the virus does. The Oxford vaccine is a dud. Dangerous and not very effective. The fact Japan hasn't made moves to get the Russian vaccine shows geopolitics trumps (forgive the pun) public health every time.

"Willingness of Russians to get a Covid-19 Vaccine"

https://www.statista.com/statistics/1131987/willingness-of-russians-to-get-a-covid-19-vaccine/

Would you get vaccinated against the coronavirus with Sputnik V for free in the near future?

Certainly yes - 9%

Rather yes - 21%

Rather not - 28%

Certainly not - 42%

As of December 2020, 3 out of 10 Russians would agree to participate in the free mass vaccination of the population with the vaccine Sputnik V against the coronavirus (COVID-19), which was produced in Russia.

7 out of 10 Russians are already skeptical of the vaccine. If Russia is not transparent about the vaccine's safety, they'll only make the anti-vaxxers grow

Completely irrelevant without a lot of additional information they don't provide. Looks to me like someone may have just made up those numbers. According to the NYT a little under half the population is hesitant to get it. That probably means around 25% are hesitant. Pretty typical.

The most interesting thing about the vaccine is the reaction of the corporate media to it. They don't like it at all, to say the least. According to the corporate media and secret police, on the one hand Russia is a backward place devoid of decent scientists and technology. The only reliable medicine they have is vodka. On the other hand, the Russian state is an existential threat to the existence of all the western powers combined.

I think the biggest issue a lot of people have with this outstanding vaccine (according to the Lancet Medical Journal) is that it's superior in safety and efficacy, along with being far easier to deploy is that it was produced in a state-owned lab by working class scientists.

As for the Pfizer vaccine, CNN warned today that people will die but "not to be alarmed". But as far as I know, incredibly, the Japanese government is still pushing ahead with buying it. I certainly won't be taking it.

"Mistrust Grows for Russia’s Coronavirus Vaccine – Poll"

https://www.themoscowtimes.com/2020/11/02/mistrust-grows-for-russias-coronavirus-vaccine-poll-a71929

More Russians distrust their homegrown coronavirus vaccine now than they did in the summer, a new independent poll cited by Russia’s Open Media news website said Monday as authorities raise hopes of mass vaccination in the coming months.

The share of Russians unwilling to vaccinate against Covid-19 has risen to 59% in October from nearly 54% in August, according to the Levada Center pollster.

Mistrust for Russia’s Covid-19 vaccine grew most among residents of Moscow. Just 31% of respondents in the capital answered yes in October when asked if they would be willing to vaccinate, down from nearly 40% in August. Only 29% of college-educated respondents said they would vaccinate, down from 36% in August.

The share of respondents who say they are willing to receive the free and non-mandatory vaccine has fallen to 36% in October from over 38% in August, according to Levada’s survey cited by Open Media. Previous polling has suggested that almost half of Russians would never vaccinate against the coronavirus regardless of whether it’s produced in Russia or another country.

Interesting. Didn't you even read the article you cited? That was in October. Now more info has become available, it seems around 25% are hesitant to get it. Pretty typical. Imagine the shock of Anglo-Americans when they realize Russians generally have the same attitude toward vaccines as they do. Though in this case, all the info points to Russians being paranoid in not taking their vaccine and Anglo-Americans being wise not to take the Pfizer vaccine.

Just for posterity, here's another one

"Russia expected a surge for its Sputnik V vaccine. But many skeptics still stayed away."

https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/europe/rusisia-vaccine-sputnik-interest/2020/12/10/005917fa-3702-11eb-9699-00d311f13d2d_story.html

Dec. 11, 2020 at 8:00 a.m. UTC

MOSCOW — The staff at Moscow's Polyclinic No. 5, syringes at the ready, waited for the expected flood of people as the first phase of mass coronavirus vaccinations rolled out this week.

And waited. And waited some more. Rows of empty seats lined the waiting area. Staff members, with little to do, squabbled about where to put a small vase of dried pink flowers.

With Russia’s coronavirus cases rising sharply, authorities are banking on the country’s Sputnik V vaccine as the answer to the crisis — and opened the vaccine to the public even before it finishes Phase III trials. In the first group, health workers and teachers can start the two-dose treatment.

But there seemed to be more vaccine skeptics than takers in the first week across Russia, struggling with the fourth-highest number of cases at more than 2.5 million.
