Insecure man boys just gotta have their AR-15s. You know, for hunting (cause they’re bad shooters otherwise), for feeling macho, and for slaughtering people they don’t like.
Republicans talk about a mental health crisis in America. They’re right. It’s gun fetishism, paranoia, amoral gun manufacturers, the gun lobby, and spineless GOP politicians who value their own careers over the lives of innocent humans, even kids.
Sick.
Bob Fosse
But sure, go ahead and blame the Democrats.

This goober was too crazy for the Army to allow him to train on this weapon, but rootin-tootin Greg was just fine with him having one no questions asked.
And he turned out to be a neo-nazi because of course he was.
As for the obvious dodge on mental health, just were is the GQP budget request for increased spending on mental health resources? Languishing in committee? Nope. It does not exist.
And just a softball question here: Which would be easier to legislate: Goobers, Xenophobes, Racists and Nutters, or guns, access to them, requirements to carry them, restrictions on their capacity and where one can carry them? (Hint: It's the guns.)

A bolt action rifle is all anyone needs fer huntin' critters, lessen yer huntin' them thar two legged crittiers. The yez need a semi-auto with a big-a__ clip. Huntin' Texas style! Huntin't Repubelicken style. Yeppur, cain't have no liberal slime takin' my guns away. Might need to defend myself in a mall shootin'. But wait! Oh yeah, what happened, weren't no good guys with guns to stop 'em.

That’s your opinion, it’s not up to you or anyone to tell me what I need or don’t need.
That’s why Texans don’t like outsiders, sarcastic mockery just makes them dig in their heels deeper and reaffirms their suspicions and hatred of the left and their out of control policies.
Proud of it
Wrong again…

As DT says, if you need to have a 30 round clip to hunt, you objectively suck at hunting. You are a danger to yourself and others and you should take up gardening.
In addition, if you need to defend your house, you want a shotgun, not an AR. More coverage. At that range, equal stopping power. And the pellets don't go through multiple interior or exterior walls to harm bystanders.
But if you want to do mass-murder. The AR is your gun!
Large volume of fire with high capacity magazines. Light ammo allowing you to carry more bullets to kill more people. The small round size is not a detriment to your lethal rage because the velocity is so high that the shock wave turns tissues and organs into mush!
And for all the light-weight goobers, there is the virtual absence of recoil, so your dough-boy shoulder won't get sore while you are playing army in the run-up.
And when you hold an AR on the way to ending the lives of as many people as possible, you can feel like a real man holding this bad boy. No, you are not a failed member of society. Nor are you "compensating for anything" You are a big tough guy with a big gun and that means "Freedumb!"
Special thanks to Bang-bang Greg and the super-majority GQP government of the "great" state of Texas once again ensuring that Texas mass-murderers are the best equipped mass-murderers anywhere.
They should put that on a bumper-sticker.

May I have a Howitzer?
The 2nd Amendment only mentions "arms" and a Howitzer falls under that category.

Two very different reactions after two mass shootings.
One in Texas, after many others, and no action to make sensible gun laws.
The other was in Serbia with the president introducing strict new gun laws and trying to reel illegal guns.

When you are in the US you must obey many laws and regulations.
You need a driving permit for a car.

"19 children and two teachers who were killed in Uvalde when an 18-year-old gunman with an AR-style rifle opened fire in a fourth-grade classroom. "
Nothing is done and history will repeat itself, again and again.

Texas is gun country. I remember my first time in Texas. We were passing through Amarillo, TX, which is in the northern panhandle of Texas. Anyway, I remember seeing pickup trucks driving by with rifles/shotguns proudly displayed in the back window gun racks for the world to see. It's a really different culture down there. They call it the Lone Star State, and for good reason. Texans don't like anybody telling them how to live their lives. Still, when you see all of these mass shootings going on there, then you have to wonder if they're just being stubborn or if they're just plain stupid.

Any thoughts on the gun reform law this article is about rather than 13 years ago?
Seth Majer
Those complaining about Texas because your political party can do no wrong, please provide me stats on how gun laws have made your favorite States and big cities a better place. Tell me what the politicians that you rushed in your absentee ballot in for have done about guns. Doubt I hear any response, just a downvote and move on to whining about Texas and Florida because YOU don't run them.

A Republican bill will be defeated by Republicans. Can't blame the Democrats for that.

Between abortion and gun control, Repubs are going to get routed in 2024...
They clearly fail to understand or (do understand but don't care) what the majority of Americans want....
On abortion, 64% said they oppose laws banning access to medication abortion. Even a majority (55%) of Republicans also oppose those types of laws.
https://www.npr.org/2023/04/24/1171352545/poll-two-thirds-oppose-banning-medication-abortion
On gun control, even Fox News is telling Repubs the truth;
-- Requiring criminal background checks on all gun buyers (87%)
-- Raising the legal age to buy a gun to 21 (81%)
-- Requiring mental health checks on gun buyers (80%)
-- Allowing police to take guns from those considered a danger to themselves or others (80%)
-- Requiring a 30-day waiting period for all gun purchases (77%)
https://www.foxnews.com/official-polls/fox-news-poll-voters-favor-gun-limits-arming-citizens-reduce-gun-violence
And every day we have another mass shooting in Texas or Florida, these numbers grow larger...
Yet the blood continues to run in Red States...

As I have said about you. You don't want any gun laws, sensible or otherwise.

Serbian citizens must also take a training course and pass a test about gun legislation. Firearms must be stored in a designated cabinet, and concealed carry permits are hard to obtain; firearms are meant to be kept at home or used for hunting.
Texas should take a page out of their book and stop Texan children from being killed.
bass4funk
you wouldn’t change a thing, look at the loss in Chicago, they have some of the best sensible gun laws, how is that working out for them?
bass4funk
Naw, different country, different laws and they don’t have our sacred 2nd amendment
wallace
You can bring guns to Chicago from other states. You oppose all gun laws.
wallace
And they don't your numbers of slaughtered school children.
wallace
The 2nd amendment does not provide for a free-all.
Laguna
He's got that right.
California has relatively strict gun laws (automatic rifles are illegal), yet people buy them over the border in Nevada and bring them back. Gun control has to be at the Federal level, i.e., nation-wide, to be effective.

And from CNN:
"Garcia self-identified in some posts as an “incel,” a term that the Anti-Defamation League defines as “heterosexual men who blame women and society for their lack of romantic success.” Some posts were sexist and expressed anger toward women."
How is this not surprising at all.
A racist who couldn't maintain a stable relationship with a woman but who did have easy access to high capacity firearms even after the US Army determined that he was too nutty to be trusted with them.
What could possibly go wrong?
EFD
Why not "both"?
I am going with "both."
wallace
Try telling that to the parents of the dead children.

It helps when the goober in question posts pictures swastika tattoos, has a "Right Wing Death Squad" patch on his corpse and talks about Nazis incessantly.

When will Texas parents put their foot down and demand more safety for their children from the epidemic of gun violence in the state...
The Texas Department of Public Safety released the identities of the Allen Premium Outlets shooting victims in an update to the investigation Monday. Officials said that an 8-year-old girl, an 11-year-old girl and a 3-year-old boy were among the deceased victims of the shooting.
This from a gunman that wore a patch on his body armor that stood for "Right Wing Death Squad"...
https://www.thedailybeast.com/gunman-in-allen-texas-mall-shooting-had-rwds-patchheres-what-that-means
Where will these Right Wing Death Squads strike next?
Maybe the Texas Repub Governor should stop obsessing over Bud Light and drag queens and do something about the far right death squads stalking Texans...
Or do Texas parents love their guns more than their children?

After a gunman walked into a primary school in Dunblane, Scotland, in March 1996 and shot dead 16 children and their teacher, the UK government enacted strict gun control laws. Since then there have been a total of (let me check the stats) exactly 0 school shootings in the UK. Outside of schools, there have been a number of mass shootings; 1 in each of the years 1997, 2010, 2012, 2016, 2018, 2021, 2022 and 2023.
That's a total of 8 mass shootings in 27 years, compared to how many this year alone (and we aren't even half way through) in the US?
What's so sacred about killing children?
bass4funk
True, but most of those people don’t have the money to do that, they can’t even afford to buy food
bass4funk
Doesn't and will never do away with the 2nd amendment, relax.
EFD
The 2nd Amendment does not and has never allowed any goober access to any type of weapon. States and the Federal Government can enact legislation controlling when and where and what type of weapons. States have restricted and courts have upheld any number of restrictions on firearms ownership and carry requirements. None other than "Originalist" (unless he wasn't) Scalia said so himself in Heller.
This particular state is just more enamored with "Freedumb!" and making sure that their mass-murderers are the best equipped in the world.
It sure as heck isn't concerned with mental health beyond the usual deflection points because its own super-majority does not budget any money for it.
Nope. It's guns goobers and "Freedumb in mah Merica" for the "great" state of Texas.
